In my town there was fore casted terrible bad weather. So I took my camera and I was waiting for what was coming. Well it wasn't all that bad, but there was some beautiful lightning and I caught one.

They all contribute to this beautiful moment

Contre Jour Tulips at Roozengaarde Gardens

The sky was overcast and a great time to photograph the Cascade falls. A .3 second exposure allows for some texture in the water.

Red sand dunes cover the landscape in the region of Al-Ain, in the eastern region of Abu Dhabi emirate next to the border with Oman.

Al Ain is a fertile oasis city located approximately 160 kilometres east of the Abu Dhabi capital. Its name ("the spring" in Arabic) derives from its originally plentiful supply of fresh water, which makes its way underground across most of the plain lying before the Omani mountains.

Walking around the back roads of Campos, end of another hot day, and as the light sinks low, the magic warm glow of golden sun bathes the old stone of this neglected house.

The night of the Christmas Eve was icy with fog. On Christmas morning, the sun rose. The forest decorated itself with twinkling lights, contrasts between the white frost and the black shadows, and holding back the sun's rays it captured banks of mist in its branches till noon.

This is the waning crescent Moon (lit by Earthshine) and Venus (as a "morning star") rising together on the morning of January 8, 2024 in the brightening dawn twilight. The Moon had just occulted (hidden) the star Antares a few minutes earlier when both were low and in the trees. So both worlds were in Scoripus this morning.

An odd aircraft contrail adds the streaks in the sky, which I left in.

The camera was on the new MoveShootMove Nomad tracker for all exposures, to track the sky, and blurring the foregound somewhat. It worked well.

Taken from home in southern Alberta on a very chilly winter dawn at about 7 am local time, with the temperature at -20° C.

This is a base image of a single 10-second exposure with the Canon RF135mm lens wide open at f/2 and Canon R5 at ISO 400, blended with a set of nine shorter exposures masked for just the Moon, taken at one-stop increments down to 1/60-second to add the bright lunar crescent, to prevent it from overexposing into a bright blob, while retaining the Earthshine on the dark side iof the Moon. The shorter exposures were blended in with Lumenzia luminosity masks. I also extended the ground down slightly using Generative AI Expand to add content below for a better composition. I added a mild Orton effect and Magic Light effect with Luminar Neo.

Old sunset, hot off the press processing, good times with Josh and Jave (and Yan as we found out later), California, Twenty-10!

I did update my blog! Can you believe it? Actually, I am just now writing another post. I am on a roll. Better watch out, haters! Link below.

I am sure you have heard this a lot, but it looks better viewed large. Deal.

Kuwait City (Arabic: مدينة الكويت, transliteration: Madīnat al-Kūwait), is the capital and largest city of Kuwait. It has an estimated population of 63,600 (2006 estimate) within city limits and 2.38 million in the metropolitan area. Located at the heart of the country on the shore of the Persian Gulf, and containing Kuwait's parliament (Majlis Al-Umma), most governmental offices, the headquarters of most Kuwaiti corporations and banks, it is the indisputable political, cultural and economic center of the emirate.

The Liberation Tower (2nd highest building on the right of the photo) is the highest structure in Kuwait. Construction of the tower commenced before the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1990. It was meant to be called The Kuwait Telecommunications Tower. When the invasion took place, construction, which was almost half-way complete, was put on hold. However, the structure received no damage, and construction resumed after Saddam Hussein's forces were expelled on February 27, 1991. Upon completion in 1993, the tower was renamed the Liberation Tower, symbolizing Kuwait's liberation from Iraq. The tower contains a revolving restaurant and observation platform (in the first disc-shaped pod; now closed to the public for security reasons), and also houses radio and other telecommunications offices. The structure stands at 372 meters high (1,220 ft) at its pinnacle. The roof of the second pod on the tower is 308 meters high (1,010 ft). It is similar to the CN Tower because both contain a revolving restaurant, observation platform, telecommunications equipment and the same look.

As in all Middle East, the city skyline is constantly changing also in Kuwait City . The tower on the very right is a new addition to the city scape. Weather across Middle East has changed in last few days and Kuwait is experiencing humidity over 80% from its usual 10%. Change of weather has brought some clouds to Kuwaiti sky, which beautifully enhance colors in the evening sky.

Family, sunsets, good eating, laziness. And photography.

Lebanon - Libnan - Lubnan - Liban - Tyre - Sour - Ancient Phoenician City on shore of Mediterranean Sea - UNESCO World Heritage Site - Sunset - Dusk on the seaside area

Tyre is a beautiful town on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It is located at the meeting point of three continents and, as such, has been the crossroads of many civilizations whose traces may still be seen today. Tyre was a major Phoenician seaport from about 2000 BC onwards through the Roman period.

Rannoch Moor as a place of wonder, one of the last really wild places in Scotland. Imagine a triangular area, stood on its apex, about 10 miles across its base and about 10 miles from top to bottom. Imagine that this 50 square mile inverted triangle is a roughly level plateau that sits at an altitude of a little over 1000ft. Imagine that its surface is dotted with innumerable lochs, lochans, peat bogs, and streams; that it is surrounded by mountains that rise to over 3000ft to the south-east and the west and to over 2000ft in the north. And, finally, imagine that this area is crossed by a railway line, running a little inside the south-east side of the triangle, and a single road, running a little inside the south-west side of the triangle. Congratulations: you've just invented Rannoch Moor.

Most people first see Rannoch Moor when driving north from Bridge of Orchy. Near Achallader the main road and the railway line diverge and the road makes a sweeping climb up to the Rannoch Moor plateau. What you find there can be a glory of heather and lochan surrounded by distant mountains. Or it can be a grey cloud-shrouded landscape through which you catch occasional glimpses of an other-worldly landscape. If Achallader marks the southern apex of Rannoch Moor's triangle, then the other two are equally distinctive. In the north-east lies Rannoch Station and the end of the public road in from Pitlochry, 40 miles to the east.

Europe - UK - United Kingdom - England - Dorset - Jurassic Coast - UNESCO World Heritage Site - Swanage - Most easterly coastal town on Jurassic Coast with gently shelving sandy beach and sheltered waters in wide Swanage Bay - Sunrise

Swanage is a small coastal town in the south east of Dorset, England. It is situated at the eastern end of the Isle of Purbeck, approximately 10 km south of Poole and 40 km east of Dorchester. The town has a population of 10,124 (2001). Nearby are Ballard Down, Old Harry Rocks, with Studland Bay to the north and Durlston Country Park to the south.

The town, originally a small port and fishing village flourished in the Victorian era, when it first became a significant quarrying port and later a seaside resort for the rich of the day. Today the town remains a popular tourist resort, this being the town's primary industry, with many thousands of visitors coming to the town during the peak summer season, drawn by the bay's sandy beaches and other attractions.

During its history the bay was listed variously as Swanawic, Swanwich, Sandwich, and only in more recent history as Swanage. The town is located at the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site.

Mindoro is the seventh-largest island in the Philippines. It is located southwest of Luzon, and northeast of Palawan. The island was divided into its two present-day provinces, Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro, in 1950. Oriental Mindoro (Filipino: Silangang Mindoro; Spanish: Mindoro Oriental) is a province of the Philippines located in the island of Mindoro under MIMAROPA region in Luzon, about 140 km southwest of Manila. Oriental Mindoro is touted as the country's emerging eco-tourism destination. In 2005, the Philippines was found to be the center of marine fish biodiversity and the home of the most diverse marine ecosystem in the world.

Oriental Mindoro evokes images of a genuine tropical paradise – white sand, crystal clear water, lush green forests covering majestic mountains and splendid waterfalls. With its largely unspoiled natural beauty, the province has much to offer in terms of tourism and other economic opportunities. Special interest tours such as mountain climbing, trekking, camping, caving, bird watching, island exploration, adventure trips, windsurfing, scuba diving, tek diving, scuba macro photography, snorkeling, keelboat and dinghy sailing are among the exciting recreational activities possible.

Day 3, Magic hour - Sparks lake

Shortly after I shot the B+W cloud motion photo, the sky started to grey up. I thought my chance of catching some dramatic warm light had passed. Nonetheless, I shot another photo with the 10 stop filter and during the exposure a sweet band of warm narrow light suddenly brushed the bottoms of South Sister and Broken Top. I had to refrain myself from closing my shutter and removing the filter, and try to take a faster exposure; experience has taught me I may miss everything! So I just kept the shutter open with the hope that I wasn't blowing out the exposure. I used a homemade nd grad as well.

30 seconds later (a 64 second exposure overall) I ended the exposure and the light was gone. I immediately checked the new image and was ecstatic with what I found.

Then the sky went total grey and that was that. Or was it???

Stay tuned for the following photos, we are not done yet my friends! :)

The Burj Al Arab (Arabic: برج العرب‎, literally, Tower of the Arabs) is a luxury hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. At 321 metres (1,053 ft), it is the second tallest building used exclusively as a hotel, after Rose Tower, also in Dubai. The Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island 280 metres (919 ft) out from Jumeirah beach, and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. It is an iconic structure, designed to symbolize Dubai's urban transformation and to mimic the sail of a boat.

Burj Al Arab characterizes itself as the world's only "7-star" property, a designation considered by travel professionals to be hyperbole. There is not much one can do about composition, so it is not the most original shot by far, the only point of difference is the sky. The weather in the Middle East started to change so we have some clouds across Gulf, (even in Kuwait) and clouds in the sky mean lovely colors.... I'm happy the way colors turn out on this shot.
