My hound loves to watch for squirrels, rabbits and other intruders, real and imaginary, from the top step of our patio. Caught this shot at sunset....

Vietnam - Hoi An - Hội An - Charming Little Riverside Ancient Town famed for its beautiful old buildings, its narrow, quiet streets - Exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century
Lantern is closely linked with the lives of Chinese people, as you can find it everywhere, especially during festivals and holidays. Hanging on the front gate of houses and stores, red lanterns decorate the street in a unique way and as every big city or small town in Vietnam has its own Chinese quarter, you find it many lanterns in Vietnam as well.
Lanterns in China are more than lighting devices and red lanterns are regarded as a basic symbol of the Chinese culture, a symbol of brightness, happiness and reunion. Both the gigantic lanterns at the Tiananmen Gate and the small lanterns of a peasant's hut express the same warm, happy and joyous atmosphere. You see a red lantern and your mind thinks of China.
Supposed to warn away evil sprits while brightening the mood with the red glow of good luck, red lanterns are considered a necessity of traditional Chinese festivals. In Lantern Festival (the fifteenth day of the first Chinese lunar month), the preferred warm red of traditional lanterns creates a convivial atmosphere at the family reunion as well as lights up the hope for the New Year. Lanterns, especially the red-colored, deserve adoration for the magical element they add to the atmosphere. In ancient times, the lanterns were fairly simple, for only the emperor and noblemen had large ornate ones; in modern times, lanterns have been embellished with many complex designs.

Best On Black This shot best illustrates the quality of light on the island in the late afternoon early evening as people settle down to enjoy the light show the island provides as the sun goes down.

Here you see the wagon filled with hot cokes. This is going to be cooled instantly, which will produce enormous amounts of steam. Taken from the "Alsumer berg"
I couldn't believe it when I walked out past the lighthouse at Nugget Point and saw these beautiful nuggets stretching out towards the horizon, with the clouds following them to the same vanishing point. I was literally jumping for joy at the beauty I saw here.

The Arg of Karim Khan (Persian: ارگ کريمخاني ɑrge KɑrīmKHănɪ AKA Arge KarimKhani, Citadel of KarimKhan, KarimKhan Fortress) is a citadel located in the North-East of Shiraz. It was built as part of a complex during the Zand dynasty and is named after Karim Khan, and served as his living quarters. It's shape resembles a medieval fortress. At times, the citadel was used as a prison. Today, it is a museum operated by Iran's Cultural Heritage Organization.

Al Kout is a very beautiful Mall outside of Kuwait in the district of Fahaheel, right at the sea front. It is usually quiet and not so crowded like other places. It is very pleasant place to chill out and have a cup of coffee. I wanted to capture this place for some time now and finally managed to get there for sunrise.

Today the fog was high, very high. So I drove into the Taunus with the purpose to meet the sun. Just below the peak of the Kleiner Feldberg I reached the upper limit of the fog.
It was very impressive to stay here on this line, where you can see the blue sky above the fog and valleys flooded by fog.

A framing of the northern winter sky constellations of Gemini (left), Auriga (top) and Taurus (bottom right). The Messier star clusters M35 in Gemini, and the trio of M36, M37 and M38 in Auriga show up well. The large nebula at upper right is NGC 1499, the California Nebula in Perseus. The Flaming Star, IC 405, and other IC nebulas in Auriga are right of centre. The small round nebula at bottom is IC 2174 in northern Orion. The dark lanes of the Taurus Dark Molecular Clouds are right of centre. Mars is just below centre in Taurus, adding an extra star to this already rich area of sky and matching Aldebaran for brightness and tint.
This is a stack of 12 x 2-minute exposures with the Canon RF28-70mm lens at 35mm and f/3.5 and on the filter-modified (by AstroGear) Canon R camera at ISO 800, on the Star Adventurer tracker. Taken from home March 16, 2023 with this area of sky in the southwest and plagued by some gradients, reduced with masks in Adobe Camera Raw and with Gradient XTerminator. Star glows added in post with Luminar Neo Magic Light extension.

One of my all time favourite photos is from Norway that I have taken few years ago. This is magical place and the time spent there will stay in my mind forever. When looking at this photo I still feel that cold in my fingers when I was waiting for one of the birds to appear in the right place in this shot.
"If you're looking to retreat from the world, you can't think of a more hauntingly beautiful place. These spectacular islands lie off the northern coast, near the stunning Trollfjord. Bird-watchers and anglers will think they've found paradise. The islands are surrounded by the richest fishing waters off the coast of Norway, and fishing has formed the focus of village life. Vestvagoy Island and the beautiful town of Stamsund are a good base for hiking and biking, and the town of Svolvaer on Austvagoy Island has an artists' colony (if time permits, visit the Lofoten Island Museum in nearby Kabelvag). In the village of A (yes, that's its entire name; pronounced awwww) the Fishing Village Museum re-creates the traditional life of the region. Orca, minke and sperm whales pass near the islands in summer. A popular option for visitors is renting a rorbu, a renovated fisherman's cabin that sleeps 4-6 people. Be aware that Lofoten is hardly undiscovered - in July and August, the islands are so crowded with tourists that you may not meet any Norwegians there."
Timelapse movies had become my new way of capturing my travels besides regular photography. Check out how beautiful Scandinavia can be :

In 1974 the MV Irish Trader left the port of Sharpness in the Bristol Channel bound for Drogheda carrying a cargo of 410 tonnes of fertiliser when it ran aground on the soft sands of Baltray Beach, County Louth.
The reasons why it should flounder so near to Port are still unclear to this day but now some 36 years later there is very little left of her owing to the constant battering of the sea which returns twice a day to dismember her piece by piece.
Very soon there will be little or nothing left to see.
Because of the tides one has to carefully time when to visit the wreck to ensure access when the water is receding to its lowest ebb.
Baltray, near Drogheda. Ireland, 2011

Hello dear flickr friends. I hope you are having a good start to the week. Thank you very much for your kind comments - as always they are much appreciated, . Here is another one of my forest shots moved forward. I don't know how it is where you are but it has been rather colder here for the last couple of days. So a warming image is always a pleasure to look at - I hope you enjoy it too.
. .
BTW - There was no fire or editing effect created by me on this photo. The colour and ambience are a mere result of the beauty created by the sunlight and the forest coming together.
Wishing you a very happy and warm enough week ahead my friends. : ) xo

Raouche is a residential and commercial neighborhood in Beirut, Lebanon. It is known for its upscale apartment buildings, numerous restaurants, cliff-side cafes and its wide seaside sidewalk, the Corniche, where strollers and joggers crowd the pavements in the evenings and weekend. Off the coast of Raouche, there is a natural landmark called the Pigeons' Rock (also known as the Rock of Raouche). Located at Beirut's western-most tip, the two huge rock formations, which stand like gigantic sentinels, are a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. Raouche's Pigeons' Rock has recently been featured on the front page of Microsoft's Bing.
When I had to pick my first blue hour/sunrise location in Beirut, I decided to go to Pigeons' Rock, even thought the sunrise would not provide dramatic colors as the sunset due to the location position as I already had plans for the evening time somewhere else. I was hoping for some nice clouds that would reflect the rising sun from the other side. Fortunately luck was on my side and I got some nice pink color on that lovely cloud.

Yesterday was unexpectedly clear weather (which have changed back to dusty storm this morning yet again). I have taken my camera and went to Salmiya to take some shots, luckily for me the sky got really nice clouds that beautifully reflected sunset colors.
Salmiya is the main shopping district and is located around 10km southeast of Kuwait City. It has several shopping malls, cinemas, boutiques, restaurants and supermarkets. It is a heavily populated residential area popular with Arab and Indian expatriates. This isn't the only place one can venture to in order to have a pleasurable experience of the middle eastern culture.

This ger was the first place we have stopped for lunch on our trip. You can notice the board sign on above the entrance in the very right corner. I wanted to take a photo from the front to show you hand painted coca cola sign, but then those beautiful clouds would not come up right. Mongolia is amazing country of vast steps and nothing around.
These structures are commonly called the ger or yurt. It is one of the two basic forms of portable housing that have been used by the nomads of Tibet, Mongolia and China since the time of Marco Polo. It remains today as the primary form of portable housing in Mongolia and Tibet.
The ger of the thirteenth century nomad was a circular structure measuring twelve to fifteen feet in diameter. Its walls were a five foot tall latticework, called a khana, made of willow branches that were lashed together with yak or horsehair twine. Willow poles were lashed to the top of the wall section and were brought together at the top to form a conical shaped roof. A single upright pole supported the peak of the roof.
Gers were covered with several panels of felt made of either goat or camel hair. The gers of thirteenth century Tibet were structurally the same as their Mongolian counterparts, and were covered with felts made from yak hair rather than goat. The number of layers of felt varied, depending on the season. Felts were soaked in either tallow or milk to repel moisture. The gers of wealthier nomads were much larger, and were coated with lime or white clay mixed with powdered bone, again white being a symbol of status. Those who were not as wealthy painted decorations around the smoke hole of their natural brown-black tents. The panels were then secured to the framework of the ger with ropes. The doorway, which always faced south, was covered with a flap of felt, which was either painted or appliquéd with multi-colored designs of birds, animals, vines and trees.
