A hemispherical concave mirror with some strategically-placed lights allows one to try and shake one's own hand. Part of the Magic Gallery attraction at the Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, located on the Royal Mile, just downhill a little from Edinburgh Castle.

The Camera Obscura itself is also well worth a visit; it was the first purpose-built tourist attraction in the city of Edinburgh, being built in 1853 by Maria Short. Think of it as a sort of periscope - light is collected through a movable mirror in a dome on top of the 5-storey building, and is focused, sharpened, and enlarged by three separate mirrors, with the resulting image being projected on to a plain circular table. The mirror can be rotated through 360º and can be pivoted slightly to allow the viewer to look downwards a little. When it opened, this was literally the first time that visitors had ever seen a moving image - the Camera Obscura pre-dated cinema by around 50 years. The projected image is much clearer on bright sunny days than it is when the sky is cloudy. Be sure to visit if you ever go to Edinburgh.
