For the second day in a row I went out looking for sunrise. Morning rays rolling across my mountain home, shining its rays into the peaks and valleys. I got very lucky this morning, a rare summer thermal inversion was taking place, and I was racing to the a scene I have shot twice before. Looking Glass Rock, not from the common overlook along the Blue Ridge Parkway, but form bellow, getting myself in line with the top of the mound. While I have a few shots of the stone faces of Looking Glass Rock standing firm within a sea of cloud, this particular valley had caught my eye early on in the shoot. This simple valley where the mist had pooled. As the morning wore on, eventually I realized this was going to be a magical shot, the morning rays burning off the top lays of mist revealing a treasure bellow, tree tops within a cloud forest. Sometimes it pays to keep your eyes open, and find compositions as they develop.

We all have our new year resolutions. My new year resolution is to make and maintain good relationship with everyone. Yea my friends that's what it takes to be happy and content in life. The seventy five years of research cannot go wrong. We already kind of knew this from our parents and grand parents. This research further confirms those beliefs. So next time you go out and try to capture the magical shot,, just take some time to soak in the beauty in front of you without worrying about how the picture will turn out and make new relationships with the fellow photographers who are there with you at the same place :)

I wanted a dope magical shot + that's exactly what my dear friend, Ashley delivered. I ❤️ it! This art is definitely kick ass!
Planned on bluebell hunting at sunrise yesterday morning in Sherwood Forest where I've seen some lovely images from already this year, hence why I was 100 miles from home at 5am. The forecast looked great for sunrise.
The dog started to limp when I let her out for a toilet break so the bluebells and woodlands were off the cards for the day. Pleased to say she's better today but no ball chasing for a week at least.
It ended up as a morning of reccying locations in this area, which I'm happy to say I found all of. One of which I never would have found without the help of a friendly local who walks his dogs there each morning. I'm never going to get to shoot it in the conditions Steve Cole had simply because of the distance from home but this magical shot of his was the reason I went searching for it.

I realised where I was close to, so I opted for Sawley Cut and Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station at sunrise.
Zero steam from the cooling towers when we first got there. This was taken at 06:07 and the first wisps started to show as people got up to start their day and pop the kettle on.

After my friend Mark proposed to his girlfriend Rita, we headed to a secret sunset spot that I knew in the Troodos mountains.
There, we were able to take some magical shots during the golden hour. The light was particularly special as the skies were just clearing after heavy afternoon showers.

Tatipudi Reservoir, the water source for the city of Visakhapatnam, is a water reservoir on River Gosthani, in Tatipudi, Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh. This magical shot of the reservoir has ripples formation on the surface of the water, that has the setting sunrays escaping from the clouds and spreading all over the water surface which reflects the violet color and makes it so beautiful for the eyes to behold!

Brickell at Sunset
Shot from Rickenbacker Causeway, Miami, FL
I hope you don't mind, but I HAD TO upload another shot from last Sunday's sunset. It's just too amazing not to share it with you. Mother nature put on a brilliant show... and that all free of charge. All you needed to do was to take it all in and... ENJOY!
Scarf.
Scary stuff today for the Macro Mondays theme, Cloth. I don’t think I’ve ever tried photographing fabric before, but the really scary bit was having seen so many magical shots of cloth over the months on Flickr.
I had two ideas today and both worked. Can you believe it? So nothing to whinge and despair about as I normally do… it’s just not the same Monday experience at all... :)
This is the result of the first idea, which I’ll post to the group. It’s the result of stealthy rummaging in enemy territory: my wife’s spare clothing storage drawers (almost as scary as the theme :) ).
It’s a scarf. Or at least I think it is. Night time party bling anyway. It shimmers bright green or copper depending on the light and has all these bright things stuck on it. It is cloth - a woven fabric which is light and transparent. Really very pretty.
The challenge with folded cloth is getting an interesting composition. Serendipity was definitely at play - but this seemed to work ok. The image is more interesting viewed large because of the textural detail, I think. Hope you enjoy it anyway…
The image covers no more than three inches of the garment (under two inches left to right) so we are within the guidelines for the group. Yey :)
Also for Crazy Tuesday's theme Bokeh :)
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Macro Mondays & Crazy Tuesdays :)

Half a year ago I took some awesome pictures at this place.
You can find them in the album "Magical Moment".
This morning I walked the path to this place again and could take
some more magical shots... same light... other colours.
I couldn't resist uploading this one too! I just got so many magical shots yesterday. I'm not sure how I'm going to choose which ones to upload later on!
On another note, I begin college in 8 days and in 5, I move in. Just typing this is making my heartbeat quicker! This will be the biggest change in my life so far, and that is scary as hell! But it is one of the most exciting times as well. I'm glad it's happening despite my nerves!
Quick Question: Have any of you ever gotten a photograph on a book cover? Getting my work on the cover of a novel is kind of a dream of mine. I'm wondering how it came about for you; did the author directly contact you or did you submit the photo somewhere? Thanks in advance for any responses!!
My goodness, THANK YOU for all the love I'm receiving on this photograph! I love you all.

There's a wonderful tunnel in the Columbia River Gorge that was built to help bicyclists and pedestrians move safely under a cliff rather than step out into the road. Add a little playtime in photoshop & put two pictures together and voila - this magical shot! Keep smiling!

Glencoe, Scotland
If you've not been following the trials and tribulations of our holiday to Scotland this year you won't have a clue what this is all about and I advise you to scroll on and look at something more impressive and photogenic! For those of you that have stuck around and are hell bent on seeing this through to the end (this is the last posting in my ordered series by the way) read on...
I don't know about you lot, but whenever I go on holiday I seem to reach a crisis point where I think I've captured nothing worthwhile and go into blind panic mode, clicking and snapping at everything in sight in the hope of that one magical shot that will make the trip... this was that day!
So here I am, in a stream, in Glencoe, in the pissing rain! It occurred to me at this juncture, what the hell am I doing here? Certainly not drinking in L.A. (one for Mr Dixon there). Does this make me a professional photographer for braving the elements or a mad amateur for not seeing reason and calling it a day - tenacity and passion verses madness and stupidity are some words to describe the situation... you may have others!
But first I must back track a little on how I arrived at this thought. My previous upload of Eilean Donan Castle was taken just before storm Callum descended upon us... in bucket loads! Our last overnight stay was near Loch Lomond but I wanted to stop off in Glencoe to have a second go at the Lagangarbh hut (for reasons that still annoy me today) as long as I didn't have to park on that stupid pot-holed wasteland. After a three hour drive in conditions that only an automated car-wash could mimic we arrived at the dreaded location. Surprisingly, the nice tarmacked parking strip on the southbound side of the A82 was empty of vehicles apart from a solitary campervan. On the other side... the pot-holed hell-hole was also devoid of cars with the exception of a couple of Chelsea tractors parked high up on the wasteland... clearly having second thoughts of going off-road!
I indicated and pulled up in front of the campervan.
K... "You're not seriously going out in this are you?"
A... "I'll just give it five mins and see if the rain eases a little"
5 minutes later...
A..."It might be the only chance I get, we might never come back here again!... are you coming?"
K... "NO!" this is the abridged printable version, but the conclusion is the same.
So I was left to brave the elements on my tod. It's not easy trying to pull waterproofs on over walking pants at the back of the car with your arse taking the full brunt of a howling wind and oncoming rain, let alone spray from the speeding traffic whizzing by. I needn't have bothered, now with a wet arse insulated within the waterproofs, I donned my wellies and big coat, picked up my backpack and tripod from the rear seat.
A... "Could do with your help holding the brolly"
K... "NOPE!"
So I set off down the track to the little white hut... green wellies, grey waterproof pants, blue coat and a black and white segmented golf brolly (apparently, fashion has never been my strong suit I've since been told) and not forgetting, camera bag, tripod and filters! So picture the scene...
Have you ever tried to open and level a tripod; unpack an inward opening camera bag without putting it on the ground; attach a camera to a tripod head, level and compose; while holding an enormous brolly in the midst of a full on storm?
I managed 12 shots... I gave up trying to fit the filter ring.
It's not my finest of images, it's pretty dull in fact, but I'm surprised it's almost level and reasonably sharp all things considered. The question is.. should I have posted it? Should I have even bothered taking it? Should I have knocked it on the head and carried on driving south? I await your comments!
Looks like the weather was in my favour to capture this magical shot of milkyway beside the Byron Bay lighthouse.
A little bit about the photo, to achieve this I had to expose for the lighthouse and for the milkway and blend them together in post.
The mist in the woods always knows how to be magical.
Shot taken somewhere around the mountains of Mont-Cenis (France).

I took a similar shot using my iPhone about a week ago. It was a magical shot - I wanted to see if I could replicate it or do better with a Canon 5D mkIII and Tokina 16-28mm lens (which is super sharp!). So I excitedly returned and took a number of photos with similar perspective (with equivalent focal length). I processed the best image (this one) in black and white as it worked better with the contrast compared to colour.
To be honest I think the iPhone version (which is in colour) is better and i'm not sure why. I guess it doesn't matter what camera you use, it's how you use it that matters. I guess it's good to know that something so portable like an iPhone can take such great photos I guess.
I'd be keen to know your thoughts?
Oh and also, the original iPhone version is also my most Favorited shot in my photostream - thanks everyone!
The museum of Roman Xanten is brilliant!
While I was looking at a wonderful display under a glass cabinet I realised that there might be a photo-opportunity . . as you do!
I placed the Canon G6 on the glass display top and pressed the button and abracadabra out came this magical shot!
The effect of almost tinted monochrome is fascinating!
Today we travel to the Magic Kingdom for a shot of Mainstreet. What makes it so special is the fact that it's very rare, at this time of the night, to have absolutely no people in your photo. If your curious as to what time it was, the park closed at midnight and this was taken about 1:10 in the morning. There was no way that I was leaving without this shot. What's the latest you've ever stayed after park closing to get your magical shot? Have a great day!
Better if you can see the large size. Mejor si puedes ver el tamaño grande.

I've been on an endless search for a taxidermy deer head (and for a bargain, of course). Finally found this creature at the swap meet last week and made him mine for just $60. :)
I haven't shot a self-portrait in quite some time, and I feel very rusty at it. I’m a pretty self-confident person usually, but I haven't felt photogenic in ages. I'm out of shape, I lack a feasible hairstyle, and I find it easier to "act sexy" when I'm covered in fake blood or posing with skulls. I had a precise idea in mind when going into this shoot, and I took almost 500 photos (seriously) trying to get it. After almost two hours of shooting and not being happy with the way I was looking, I was ready to just call it in and try again another day. Shaking my hair back and forth was really just out of frustration, and I somehow managed to get this magical shot in the end.

Thanks for the gift of your friendship.

The famous Bad Eddie shipwreck on Magheraclogher Strand Gweedore Donegal Ireland, This amazing wreck was stranded during the 70's rumour has it a husband grounded this boat in spite of a bad divorce from his wife who was trying to claim half this boat through the courts! He grounded the ship and said to the wife afterwards "theres your half" amazing story I thought lol
Before leaving I decided to shoot a long exposure and captured this magical shot with cloud trails and a very moody atmosphere
the empties have been pulled and set out on the main. it's time to spot the loads now. The locomotive is almost certainly on the east end of any move through here as both grupo modelo and harinas elizando are stub ended switches facing west. There would be a magical shot of a westbound around this corner. The old Corona sign still towers over the cerveceria making for a wonderful backdrop and a reminder of the past.
such climate is what makes Matheran one of my fav destinations. Once the clouds engulf the forest, it becomes magical.
Shot with my brother Canon A590IS :)
Upper view of the Treehopper posted a couple of days ago. This is a lovely magical shot by Anders Croft. Ethereal really. Still don't know which species.

We Are Made One with What We Touch and See
We are resolved into the supreme air,
We are made one with what we touch and see,
With our heart's blood each crimson sun is fair,
With our young lives each spring impassioned tree
Flames into green, the wildest beasts that range
The moor our kinsmen are, all life is one, and all is change.

A magical shot from one of many boats stopped overnight in Halong Bay, Vietnam. The beauty of the rising pillars from the sea contrasts with the flotilla of commercial boats crammed together in a small relatively space.
This is the result of a news flash. Boy was the Eureka Mill ever open for serious mining business! I found this magical shot on Wiki Commons on a search, It must have been summer that found some of the windows open. Only foundations remain. This shows the general layout of a stucture for processing ores. Each story or level was for a separate process and all were fed by gravity. Wach out - DOWNCOMING! This shows its productivity and the size of the mine itself. This mill was at Eureka, Colorado a short way up the Animas River, northeast from Silverton, Colorado but the mine was far atop the bluff above between the Amimas and Cement Creek to the West. A Cement Creek mill, the Gold King, became famous for the river spill blamed on the actions of the EPA. I heard the news about the spill but never really believed the news report, knowing the scope of the vast Sunnyside mine above mountain and on the rise to the East. Any water source in the mountains will always found its way downhill.
I suspected the Sunnyside was the source of the flood as soon as the story was out. When poking Youtube for Colorado mining camps, I found an exellcnt clip on Eureka that relayed the entire Sunnyside story and suggeted there was a shaft from the Sunnyside and the Gold King. Both had rail access in the day. It also related that Lake Emma near the mine drained to the Gold King which may have sourced the flood.
Borneo is water, jungle, lakes, rivers, primordial forests, dayaks, sanctuary for endangered species...
All of them are on this shot. You got lake, river, jungle, primordial forest, dayaks and yes....orangutans but too hidden to see them though, believe me, they are there.
That is what I call a magical shot. The picture is mine but the place belongs to all of us.
Let's try to preserve it and the incredible, amazing wildlife that happily and free live inside it.
6.30 pm : I was surronded by a terrific sense of peace. Alone on the top of a hill I realized how lucky I am.
I had the opportunity to see many wonders throughout the years. This is a view that I will never be able to forget.
A man who has been an incredible source to all mankind, left us a couple of days ago.
I dedicate this shot to Steve Jobs. Mr. Jobs, may you rest in peace with the same sense of peace I was surrounded with in this place.
