We were given an assignment, about 45 minutes, and instructions only to go get a photo for a magazine layout that would be folded in half in the middle for a full two page spread, the model on one side and the entire page on the other side more or less blank ready for text. Oh, and the lighting for this shoot was done with nikon speedlights shot thru a small umbrella, and at times, a small gold or silver reflector for fill. The lights where just barely out of frame to camera left for this shot.

I have narrowed it down to these three photos, but can't seem to pick just one. Maybe you all could help me here and let me know which one you think is the best.

Catalysis is here portraying Maureen O'Hara - famous actress who appeared in several movies up to the late '70's including many westerns co-staring with John Wayne. She passed away in late 2015 at the age of 95.

I got a commercial job for a magazine a few weeks ago, and they asked me to take some headshots of some crazy hair and makeup. They agreed to pay for the shoot, and still allow me to retain my copyright of the images, as long as I did give them print rights to it. So it will be published soon, but I'm still able to show off the work prior to it being published.

Well, I knew once this womans makeup was done, that I wanted to do something gothic with it. She has beautiful eyes, and a chilling stare, so this is what I came up with.

Probably the best evidence of my OCD would be how many of these vintage Mobley rubber squeaky toys I collected over time. I started with one and then slowly went mad collecting them. But the cats would walk across them at night and drive me insane with the sounds of their squeaking. Plus they'd fall down and wake me up with a thump-squeak from time to time. Super disconcerting when you're trying to sleep

These baskets come from Bed Bath and Beyond and they make the best storage containers. I collect vintage ribbon and made tags and sorted everything out into them; hair products, body lotions, makeup, perfume, bandages, soap, tub toys, those kinds of thing.

I have shelves that line the tall walls of my bedroom. I've tried putting all kinds of things up there and have finally given up. THe vintage hats didn't work out either because they would collect dust and I didn't want to damage them by leaving them out.

Photography is not only a fixation of the moment, it is more than just a snapshot, it is an opportunity to tell a story, convey feelings, emotions...

That is why it is important to put your soul into your work.

Photography is primarily a story about love, love for what you do.
