Well, there is a road to the left, but this enormous expanse of arranged stones is not a road - but a wall!
This stone wall (in Swedish: stengärdsgård) is a quite traditional way to mark boundaries in the landscape, to denote whose field is whose. They could be made of wood too, but in areas with a lot of stone in the ground, it was a way to get rid of the stone from the fields and put it to better use in dry walls. But they were generally not this enormous, like this one in the village of Repperda, Småland. These were built is a way to provide work and hence an income in the late 1860s (Sweden was at the time hit hard by a famine and the emigration to America was just kicking off, fueled by this) - and the aim was not really the walls themselves but to get all that stone out of the fields so that they could be worked more effectively and hopefully produce more food.
They are called Repperda walls (Repperda murar).

The Kaispeicher B was built in the years 1878/1879, before the establishment of the free port and about ten years before the construction of the Speicherstadt, on behalf of J. W. Boutins according to plans by the architects Wilhelm Emil Meerwein and Bernhard Hanssen in the style of the Hanover School. The facade is decorated with colored glazed bricks and natural stones and structured with neo-Gothic gables, bay windows and pointed arches. Like the Speicherstadt, the building consists of a load-bearing inner frame made of wood and steel columns with load-bearing outer walls. The warehouse has nine floors.

I shot this picture during our recent visit to Sevilla, Spain. It shows the top of the Metropol Parasol. The construction measure approx. 150x70m and os about 26m high. The construction is made of wood and it almost looks organic, like mushrooms. From the top you can enjoy a beautiful view over the city of Sevilla. I will probably post a picture of the view later...
* Mountain with snow is lovely. This is a slightly isolated alpine chalet we could find in this part of Pyrenees, It is made of wood and stone. The path to go there is covered with fresh snow no one walked on except a deer.

Hello everyone,
I spotted this little sparrow running around in high speed on a path made of wood chips. After watching it for a few moments, I realized it was foraging for food.
Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving me a comment. I do love hearing from you!
Have a marvelous day!

The majority of Mongolian people spend their lives travelling. So they need a portable dwelling. Ger is a circular dwelling made of wood and covered with fabric. It became the symbol of Central Asian nomadic life particularly in Mongolia.
"They say an elephant never forgets. What they don't tell you is, you never forget an elephant."
Quote - Bill Murray
I found this elephant made of wood in a second-hand shop. it looks exotic, with an elephant head but the body and very large hands and feet of a human being. Don't know who made it…
It stands on the windowsill and attracts a lot of interest from passers-by. With its size 55cm height it's one of the tallest elephants of my collection. ;-))
Happy Sliders Sunday!
I visited a wonderful old forest on Öland. There are many old trees, lots of insects, to paradise for Judy, Mary and Dougie. men mainly I thought about Paul and his son Marc.
Throughout the forest there is a loop made of wood, fully adapted for wheelchairs, thermobikes, nice little benches to sit and watch the scenery, the light of the birds, just rest a little.
This picture is for Paul and Marc. Please visit Paul's page and read his wonderful story about his family.

Swedish churches are generally not made of wood, nor are they painted bright red. But there are obvious exceptions - like the church in the small village of Näshult, Småland (it really is small: in 2015, the village had 96 inhabitants).
This Baroque church (the Baroque is more obvious on the inside, perhaps) was inaugurated by the bishop in 1735, replacing a medieval church of unknown age made of timber.
I enjoy using pretty things for activities. So I like to take this round basket for harvesting our walnuts – even if there might be more practical items ;-)

Tisleidalen church is a church constructed in a rectangular shape, from 1957 in Tisleidalen in Nord-Aurdal municipality, Innlandet county.
The building is made of wood and has 130 places.
At Tisleidalen on Golsfjellet there was a burial ground before a church was built. The cemetery here has been in use since 1949, after the plot was given as a gift in 1943. Permission was then given to build a chapel at this "auxiliary cemetery". The chapel was designed by Karl Stenersen, built in 1957 and consecrated in 1958. The building is today called a church.
Church building
The church has a rectangular nave and a narrower, straight-ended chancel. There is a sacristy on the north side of the choir and a baptismal waiting room (baptismal sacristy) on the south side. As a tower, a roof rider acts near the western end of the ship, and there are porches to the west. The number of seats is 130. The orientation is approximately from west-southwest to east-northeast.
Earlier we bought some nice pieces of crystal art from Kosta Boda:
“Fidji vase” by Kjell Engman.
"Beans" Blue Limited Edition by Bertil Vallien (Artist collection)
In addition a original "Dalapaard" to make it a Swedish art composition.
The Dala horse (Swedish: dalahäst) is a horse made of wood that is a symbol of the Dalarna landscape in Sweden, or nowadays by extension also of the whole of Sweden.
The wooden horses come in all sizes and are mostly made in Nusnäs, near Mora. Most horses are red and they are often painted by hand. The horses have been made since the 17th century. In Nusnäs there is a museum where, among other things, it is shown how the horses are made.
The church located in the village of Eyrarbakki, was built in 1890 and is made of wood. The front part stands out with the brown paint, while the rest is light blue. Like almost all churches in towns and villages it was closed.
Crazy Tuesday, theme of April 12, 2022: made of wood
Sorry, not really crazy ... but in times of spring fatigue, the bedroom seems to exert a great pull on me ; ))
No, seriously - I really liked the spring light on that day and was in the mood for a rather simple subject
[Edit: I will catch up with you later this week]

This Baroque church was inaugurated by the bishop in 1735, replacing a medieval church of unknown age (also made of wood). The ceiling decorations were painted in 1765, the pulpit is actually a Renaissance work (dating to the 17th century - which is quite late, but we are talking about a rural area in the far north of Europe) which got a Baroque make-over, and the altarpiece is also earlier than the church: it was made in 15th century, probably in Lübeck, in the Gothic style.
Just in case the world runs out of keyboards, ink and biros etc. I really do still prefer to write in longhand with pencils. Love Pencils.
From the left hand side to the back then front right, these are the Thai classical instruments these children use:
Saw Sam Sai (Three Stringed fiddle) ( ซอสามสาย ) – it is a traditional bowed string instrument made from a special type of coconut covered on one end with animal skin. Musician playing Saw Sam Sai’ mostly sits at the front row of the ensemble.
Thai Ramwong Drum ( รำวง )– It is super heavty solid carved shell with beautiful wood grain and nice lacquer finish. It is easily tunable without tools by adjusting the ropes.
Ching ( ฉิ่ง ) and Chap ( ฉาบ ) – this is the tupe of metal percussion looks like mini cymbals made of an alloy. Ching comes in pair of bowl shape cymbals. Chap is more flat and thinner.
Ja Khe ( จะเข้ ) – is made of wood in a stylised alligator shape with three strings laying along the instruments. Two strings are made of silk yarn or nylon and the other strings is made of brass, It has raised frets made of bamboo, which are affixed to the fretboard. The body is made of soft wood trees such as jackfruit.
Traditional music can help people understand a country better. It represents the history, traditions and thoughts of a community you are in.
As for yourself, of course, either you are playing or learning to play any instruments can be seen as very therapeutic. It can raise your mood and make you calm or relaxed.
Have a wonderful day ahead!

There are two large squares in Arras, La Place des Héros is the smaller one. The larger square is called Le Grande Place and is only a small street away. It's unusual to have two large squares in one city. It was lucky I took this shot that afternoon I went back the following morning and the square was full of market stalls and vans
Arras' two ancient market squares, the Grand' Place and the smaller place des Héros (also known as the Petite Place), are surrounded by 17th- and 18th-century Flemish Baroque houses topped by curvaceous gables. Although the structures vary in decorative detail, their 345 sandstone columns form a common arcade unique in France. The original buildings were made of wood however like 80% of Arras, both squares were heavily damaged during WWI, so many of the façades were reconstructed in brick after the war.

The first fortress of Ponts-de-Cé, located on a strategic point already used by the Romans, was built around 850 under Charles II (Charles the Bald) grandson of Charlemagne, to resist the invasion of the Normans who went up the Loire to plunder the interior of the country. This castle, probably made of wood, is followed by a stone feudal building, which was rebuilt by King René, son of Louis II of Anjou. In 1440, it became his second favorite home. It is there that she instituted the festivities, known as the “Baillée des Filles”, still perpetuated today.
