Post-moult ghost spider / aranha branca pós-ecdise

This was one of those super skinny legged spiders, big in size if you consider the length of the legs but small if you consider how the look (barely visible because they're so skinny). He was hanging upside down in our dining room & fairly tame so I decided to try and be brave and use my 3580macro on him :) I tried to get closer (this is at 35mm) but his webs were in the way and he'd keep jumping and then I'd keep jumping back so I decided to give up hah :D

I hesitate to add this. Has anyone got tips for getting shots of flying insects? Some are so sharp on flickr. No matter how hard I try I always get mediochre pics. I was so pleased the first time I captured a fly in flight until I saw the quality online. Still, I get quite a BUZZ out of it! - sorry about the pun! Just waiting for some sun to try out my 7D.

Macro shot of a brown jumping spider.

The "rain spider" is a common name for the huntsman spider species of the genus Palystes, specifically found in Southern Africa. They are known for entering homes, especially before or during rain, because they follow insects that are seeking shelter indoors. While large and sometimes startling, they are not considered dangerous to humans.

A picture from a while ago. When Spring was in the air and the Summer was still going to be hot and dry

false widow spider, also called steatoda nobilis. It gives a nasty bite and is well established in Devon, UK

Half inch long insect resting, or nesting, or maybe hiding inside the rolled edge of a grape leaf. I find it amazing that a grape vine offers extreme habitat to such a variety of life.

Found this little guy outside this morning asking to come in the house. I said no. But he let me take his pic.......That was nice.

Araignée du jardin, prenant sagement la pose

Merito proprio lo sguardo minaccioso di questo ragno riservato, che con pazienza e dedizione ha tessuto una tela enorme per gustarsi i suoi pranzi. Il macro mi diverte sempre.

Mirror Mirror under the spider, Does this make your butt look wider/?

The boys knocked over our waterfountain only for this beasty to come crawling out from the stones.

This tiny spider (about 1/4 inch max) was sitting near the center of its web. This was taken indoors at Meijer Gardens Greenhouse during the annual butterfly exhibit. This may be a native Michigan species or it may have come from anywhere around the world. If anyone can help with identifying it please let me know.

Micrathena Spider

About 3/4 inches across if she spread all eight legs, which she obviously didn't do. She convinced me it was time to dust off the tripod and give up handheld macros. At her scale, a tiny breeze is a wind storm. She is slightly transparent, but with cool markings. She built her home under a newly sprouted grape leaf. Amazing the life in and around that one area.

I hate how noisy this picture looks. It didn't get this way until I uploaded it. argh.

Another shot from the same shoot as my last Arachtober image. This guy wasn't too happy with me sticking my camera all up in his business. I had the macro and the extension tube on, so I was in quite close.
