long-legged flies, are a large, cosmopolitan family of true flies with more than 7,000 described species in about 230 genera. The genus Dolichopus is the most speciose, with some 600 species.

Today I met this gorgeous spider who posed sweetly while I took it's photograph. Afterwards I set it into our yellow daisy bush, so it could carry on with its spider business.

Cornu aspersum is an invasive alien snail with shells up to 32 mm in diameter and is originally from Europe and is, widespread in New Zealand. Active at night or during wet weather it is Slow moving, using a slime trail. It has a well-developed sense of smell and /taste.
