Okay my hubby got me a dozen different colored tea roses last week..... that is more than enough to drive a macromaniac INSANE!!!!! LOL.... They were gorgeous... of course... they only lasted a week.. even with the sugar in the water... oh well... I have pics that will last forever! View LARGE for an even better closeup of the details!

I went to Van Dusen gardens with my good friend Pam. She has been through a lot lately and also has to go back to Montreal to say goodbye to her ailing father. So I dedicate this series to her. We always have fun when we go out.

The diversity of plants at almost anytime of year is wonderful and worth a visit if you are ever in Vancouver.

There are some carnivorous plants in this set that are neat in the way they work and how nice they look.

if you know any of the plant names I have missed, please feel free to add the name in the tags. I would very much appreciate it.

An instar nymph Ant Damsel Bug perches on a wet leaf in dads garden. He was very small, maybe 5 or 6mm in length. Thanks to Macromaniac for the ID!

Mandarin Tea !

Try as i might that lovely squirrel just didnt want to approach me no matter how much i tried to tempt her :( But as i left the woods i headed over to a small stream with the intentions making a nice cup of tea ( earl grey :) ! Hatch day!

I spotted these newly hatched spiderlings the size of a pinhead busily running between foliage on strands of spider's web on their way out into the world.

I have no idea which species they are but I did have a lovely Garden Orb Weaver there last year and wonder if these are her offspring. I'd like to think so.

Hatch day for bugs!

These tiny bugs just hatched out of some green eggs I found on my lemon tree. I am not sure of the actual species but I guess they are similar to the Spined Citrus bug that I have seen on my Cumquat every year but the eggs from them were a pearly colour.

I had just sat down at the table when i noticed this Salticus scenicus common jumping ( zebra ) #spider had joined us for tea ! Everytime i approached him with the camera he would curiously nod and tilt his head as if meticulously calculating my next movement lol !

Eriophora biapicata

This garden spider that I found in my eucalyptus tree was well hidden wrapped around the small fork of some branches during the day but at night she spins a web which collects not only insects but also pollen which is a rich source of protein for her when she eats her web at the end of each night.

The spider recycles 90% of her web in making the next night's web so is very efficient in her use of energy indeed.

Changing form

This is the second stage of development of a Ladybird beetle; the pupa. The larva attached itself to the leaf and shed its skin for the last time to reveal its pupal skin beneath. It then performs the magical process of metamorphosis or changing form into a beetle with wings; the third and final stage.

A small #raspberry #beetle doing its early morning hunt for breakfast on the underside of a leaf ! It is considered as a pest in north europe but it reminds me of a gold egyptian scarab beetle !
