For the Smile on Saturday challenge: "a light in the dark"
In the dark days of winter, when the hours of daylight shrink, candles are always a wonderful way to give both light and warmth. And the quality of candle-light is special, with its warm, mellow glow. This winter I am reaching for the candles more often, and the rooms smell (comfortingly) of candle wax ;o)

For the Smile on Saturday challenge: "multicolour bubble bokeh"
What a fun way to start the new year with a smile! I took my closest (30mm) macro lens and kept it out of focus on some assorted Xmas decorations by the window ... and had some fun with bokeh balls.

Last evening we found this usually well-hidden Pacific tree frog (Pseudacris regilla) on a little part of the exterior of the house. Also known as a Pacific chorus frog, this tiny one has a beautiful low voice, and has a range spanning the Pacific Northwest, from Northern California, Oregon, and Washington to British Columbia in Canada and extreme southern Alaska.

This one did not seem too alarmed by our presence. I hope not. Cropped by about fifty percent. Looked as if sleeping when we first walked by it. Bounced off-camera strobe.

For the Macro Monday challenge "Festive Season” (December 19th 2022)
Sometimes this is the bit that I love most .... and what makes me take up my macro lenses! The tiny bits and bobs that are left over, and ready to sweep up and throw away! Fragments of ribbon, bits of foliage from the garden .... add a couple of the tiny shiny baubles from the tree ... and I am in macro heaven 😊

Yes, I’m completely quackers!
Photo was taken back in February, some newer stuff soon, I just wanted to use the caption 😜
We are now both covid free, hurray, this week, we have mostly been on a business course, which if I’m being honest was absolutely useless and boring, it was difficult for me to sit at a desk for 7 hours a day for an entire week and behave. It was nice to get out and meet new people though, so not all bad.
Have a lovely Sunday, all.
