We got some much needed rain in the Silicon Valley. After lunch I got my camera ready at the Broadcom campus in San Jose, California. This is a macro view of a table outside, taken with a macro extension tube and the Dream Lens.

I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate your critical feedback.

An integrated bookmark ribbon on a notebook.

This yellow jacket or more well known wasp was on my window sill already dead, most likely killed by a family member through fright...

I used to myself be afraid of these flying stinging machines but up close - they really are some of the most beautiful insects in the UK.

The flash could have been on a higher setting but i'm happy with the outcome for now, will try and get a closer macro on its compound eyes...

Taken with a 50mm Prime lens reversed with a reverse ring on macro extension tubes.

Flash is the AFD 360 flash mounted on a bracket to the left of the camera with a flash chord connected to the canon 550d body.

Ranunculus

This flower originates from the Middle East and belongs to the Buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). It is pronounced ran-UN-kew-lus. The Latin name ranunculus means "little frog".

I bought these yesterday as soon as I saw this intricate structure within the centre of the flower. I could have photographed them for ages - each stage of the flower from bud to bloom has so many interesting textures and structures. (I have some other views in my photostream)

Taken using macro extension tube adapter no. 3 (30mm) and standard 18-55mm lens. Lit with a desk lamp.

It's funny that we consider spiders a big part of Halloween when they're all dead, dried up and gone by late October in most places where the leaves turn colors. I captured this little guy this summer on a web he had spun by the Des Plaines river.
