SOOC + 1 in Comments (50mm)

H everyone!

Sunday, last day of the week of tests with my new Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens and well I decided to use the macro extension rings, actually just one of them the smaller (9mm) and here is the result. I think I will be using more this lens, I am really happy with it and there are still more things I want to try, like panning, long exposure, light painting and of course more portraits.

Well, hope you weekend was awesome!

Btw, Happy Fathers day!

Well, it will be a kind of sacrilege if not making this shot :),

Yes those are chillies, very small chillies but also very very hot, I think mom will do a sauce tomorrow but hopefully she will not use all of them... I could die if she does :P

It's Tigger from winnie the Pooh, in case you're wondering. again another one of Chloe's toy's. Thanks cuzin Chloe! I owe you a lot.

What they are doing? They eating another or they have sex?

Been playing around a little with some old foreign coins, trying to get some shots.

I was not really satisfied with any of them. I think this turned out the best.

It is taken with just one of the extension tubes. With all three it is possible to get closer. But seeing how dirty the coins are it might be better to back away...

Tackling a lattice crust on a pie this small was probably kinda crazy, but I'm glad I did! It was my first ever cherry pie, period, and it tasted pretty darn good, too!

This was taken with a 50mm mk II using macro extension tubes. I have yet to upgrade to the AF tubes, meaning you can auto focus and also adjust aperture. This had to be manually focused without the use of aperture... Which isn't easy! A lot of leaning forward & back, zooming in & out 'til I could get the focus.. I was lucky with this shot to get the entire subject in focus, everything else I photographed was only semi focused due to the uncontrollable aperture. In saying that, extension tubes are a fantastic substitute to macro lenses and a bunch of fun.

Enjoy.

I looooove books with illustrations like this, and the ones in this book were all done in the 1950s.

My mom was reading excerpts from "The Wisdom of Narnia" book, and this passage stuck out because a family member was being particularly terrible to her that day. I had to take a photo of it.

6th April 2009

For macromondays weekly theme; Frugality

Save money, electricity and the environment by pegging your clothes on the line outside in the fresh air instead of using a dryer.

Have you ever had to smack something electronic to get it working again? This is probably why. Some components heat up while energized, which can cause the component and solder to expand. When the component is de-energized later (after you turn off the device), the components and solder contract/shrink. Over time, these heat cycles can cause the solder joints to crack, causing a bad connection, as seen in this picture, from the A/C control module on my 2002 Corvette Z06.

GIMP

Last minute shot, macro and then processed in GIMP to get the "blinds" and the selective color effect. I had not idea what to do so I took a 256Mb DIMM RAM I had from my old Dell Laptop and the macro extension rings, the idea of the processing came after, lets say I like it.

Well, now time to sleep, well, actually to continue watching Silent Hill 2.

Have a great weekend!
