Large sheet of white foam board on camera right as a reflector. NIkon 18-200 VR lens with Kenko extension tubes.

Toy soldiers shot for the strobist macrochallenge. I wanted to create an image with smoke but that proved difficult.
Strobist info:
- Metz 54Mz3 on the left, a bit to the front, at 1/256 and more dimmed with depron
- Metz 50Mz5 on the right, again a bit to the front, sorta snooted with depron (black and white with a small slit to get more light on the faces)
- Due to lack of remotes for the moment shot at 1 sec shuttespeed and manually fired the 50Mz, the 54Mz slaved.
- Smoke created with a soldering iron and baby oil

Macro strobist challenge: shot with my EF 100mm macro lens 2.8
Strobist data: Slice of kiwi, on clear glass, propped up over an area that has been masked underneath to allow light through the glass just into the slice.
Below the masked area of the glass sits a 580ex, hotshoe cord to my Canon 30D.
Here is the slice with no flash below and an ambient focusing light

Strobist: This was lit by two flashes, an unidentifiable and nonadjustable Russian object (purchased at a flea market) was resting on the arm of a couch shinning at the wall behind the subject and a sigma DG super was sitting on the chair that the subject was on, pointing up at a piece of white plastic balanced on the backrest of the chair. Triggered by ebay remotes.

Taken with D200, one SB800 camera left, bouncing off ceiling, one SB80DX behind leaves with Joe Demb diffuser, One SB80DX camera right on tripod with home made diffuser. Triggered by Pocket wizard. Flash settings were fairly high to maintain f22 (for DOF)

We moved to this farm in October when everything was brown. These just bloomed yesterday and they are gorgeous! Another bush is going to bloom soon-I think those are blood red!
The Common Lilac is a very common ornamental plant.
There are over 1,000 varieties of Lilacs.
They range in size from 4ft to 30ft.
Strobist Info: Nikon SB-25 at Full Power into 42" Wescott Silver Umbrella, triggered with wireless E-bay triggers, Gobo (black side of reflector disc) on the far side of the umbrella to prevent light from hitting my fence behind it. Camera white balance set to 'flash' in an effort to slightly warm the picture.
I shot this in my backyard for the Strobist Challenge #7 I figured I would take advantage of the few weeks the lilacs are in bloom for this assignment.
A butterfly my son and my dad caught, after we released it.
Taken with a Nikon 180/2.8 with a Canon 500D diopter on a Nikon D200, handheld.
Strobist: Taken at night. One SB-800 into an umbrella nearly head on, and another bare SB-800 from above, fired by CLS.

For this challenge I thought it would be fun to take picture of a model car (Scalextric) as if it were a real car.
A close-up shot of the insides of a dead 10gb disk drive. My initial real attempt at using off-camera flash. I just got a pair of eBay triggers last week and, other than some sanity check shots to make sure they worked, this was the first opportunity to try them out.
A Minolta and Quantaray flash, one on each side, fired by a Cactus PT-04 trigger setup. More details on this setup shot.

Some simple props lying about the livingroom.
Used my Fuji S9600 with a Canon Speedlite 540EZ (Camera left 90degrees with a yellow filter, flash triggered) and a Starblitz 2000BTZ (handheld over my right shoulder with a -2 or so white foam filter). Both remotes were triggered with my Fuji inbuilt flash which had a 100% reflector to the ceiling to lose its effect. Any opinions appreciated but please be nice as I've just started at this game! :)

Three guesses as to what this insect covets. I photographed it using a Nikon D80 set to f/22 @ 1/200 second shutter speed. The lens was a Tokina 100 mm macro. For off camera lighting I used a Nikon SB800 with a Westcott mini-softbox. The flash was positioned above and to the left of Mr. Fly, set to 1/32 power, and triggered by Nikon CLS.
The photography group I belong to has been working on practicing macro photography this month and has a challenge going. For the challenge, you post a macro shot and everyone has to try and guess what it is. This is my submission...Does anyone have a guess as to what it is?

We went to the Roswell NM Zoo yesterday, and these were laying in dirt out of a cage! Don't know what kind of eggs they are. There were Peacocks roaming everywhere though.
