Did some cropping on the hibiscus , think is the best that i can do for the standard lens 18-105mm . May be i should have a macro lens , any lens i should look out for from macro friends :)

EXPLORED:

Sunsets in themselves are generally superior to sunrises; but with the sunset we appreciate images drawn from departed peace and faded glory.

More Power!

Have a blessed day!

Thanks so much for visiting:))

Happy Holidays Macro Friends.

Asilidae (Diptera family). This one spotted flitting from one branch to another as it tries to get away from us during this morning's macro session in Admiralty Park, Singapore. It was raining at the moment, which explains the water around its body and over its eyes. Me and my macro friends were discussing whether what it has in its beak is 1) its baby robberfly or 2) a poor fly becoming its meal. Most likely its the last answer. It doesn't look like its baby (and I'm almost tempted to title this picture as Insect Madonna and Child).

Happy Macro Monday all you square macro friends!

A fun day out with friends initially to photograph birds as panning and focus practice but later moving onto Duddingston and Dr Neil's Garden. Still experimenting some new editing techniques in Lightroom so please be kind if some of these look a little unlike my normal images. Hope you enjoy.

It's been a while since I've participated in a Macro Mondays theme, I've really missed it. Toys/games is one of my favourite macro themes so I thought it was a good time to participate again. Hope all my macro friends are well =)

I couldn't have asked for a better start to a Saturday after a really hectic week @ office. Wishing all my macro friends a happy friendship day.

Shot them all in my garden and nearby empty plot using my 50mm lens and 55-200VR lens.

Wait a sec, its only Saturday, Sunday is remaining!

Asilidae (Diptera family). This I spotted just perched on dead stem of a shrub along the long stretch of the river park in Sengkang. Some of my macro friends mentioned there are lots of these interesting bugs inhabiting the place since robber flies like to live near streams, rivers, or any bodies of water. I just wandered off that place one day and, lo and behold, I saw this robberfly. The green background is actually a blade of grass behind it (the blade was not at the center, so you would notice the fading dark side at the right side of the picture).

This is not a macro lens this is an extension tube baby

With apologies to grandmasters of this genre like Amber for desecrating her style.

If anyone has an idea what sort of plant it is then display your conucopia of botanical savvy below

Ok (un)FAQs

1. yes it IS cross-processed (it alway is (almost)

2. an extension tube is just that a cylinder of metal the same diameter as a lens. it makes the lens a few mm further away from the camera effectivley shortening the focal length so you can get really close up without shelling out those precious $$$ for a true macro lens.

3. it creates a really shallow DoF (which I LOVE mwah mwah)

4. I have change the hues to purplish because I happen to think purple rocks and is less depressing than brown especially in winter

5. It is uploaded full size so view it LARGE pleeeease.
