Everyone has coins lying around at home (less so as we all move towards paying with plastic!). We have something special though, you can check it out in this week's video here - youtu.be/DHB8ZojzTWE

You may notice that this is not your average one cent coin. In fact, we went shopping at fellow kickstarter creator Chris Ovdiyenko's store Dead on Paper. We grabbed two different "Hobo coins" to experiment with including the "John Henry" that you see here.

Using the Adaptalux Studio, we were able to get an accurate shot of the coin before experimenting with coloured Lighting Arms to add highlights. Picking out the details of the design can sometimes be an interesting lighting challenge, so we made use of diffusers and direct light in the various shots we took.

i'm really not entirely sure what this is. i "think" it might be just another branch on this tree starting to form...but i could be way off :)

i noticed this cute little curly thingy up in a tree as i almost tripped over flickr friend ben who was crouched down taking a picture of something at ground level.

it was times like this where i really kicked myself for not bringing my macro.

but my main purpose for this trip was to catch the bigger picture....

but the macro freak in me just wouldn't let go. never again will i ever leave home w/out it.

but this one turned out really cool w/that insano back ground bokeh.
