It's been a horrible summer. For me personally but my complaints are nothing compared to those of the people who have lost their homes, pets, livestock and livelihoods due to the wildfires.

The beautiful things about summer do keep happening though so I thought it was time to show some.

My series of three flower pictures, taken in a nearby public garden, was prompted by the startling statistics about this summer. It has been the driest one in recorded history. Just 8.6 mm (0.34 inches) of rain in total fell in the last three months.
