I think this may be my first post using my new closeup filter on my 50mm lens. Optical quality ain't too shabby! Its alot easier then bringing my huge 105m macro everywhere I go.

So.

This little treat was my dessert after lunch. YUMMY! Actually, it wasn't all that yummy because the ice cream was sorta like ice-milk..not exactly smooth, but hey, the M&Ms were awesome!

Trust me .. i see macro everywhere now.. as if the Raynox is mounted on my eyes.. not just on my lens!!

And guess what.. i have started attracting insects...

(the same question can also be asked as "how many of us don't "jump and shout" when a large moth comes and sits on your lap".. hahaha!)

Also imagine the awkward position to take the shot like the one above when its sitting on your lap facing right and not budging to move... ouch.. that hurts the back :D

I was quite fortunate that the camera bag was handy as i had decided to go for a small macro shoot in the backyard today morning (that was a wonderful shoot too.. you will see photos during this week)

Found this colourful tiny creature which looked inanimate and feigned death. Was about to flick it with my finger without realizing it is a poisonous vapourer moth caterpillar which injects tufts of hair into the skin causing irritation/infection as their defense system ...

The lighting was poor, so I used pop-up flash with DIY diffuser, which makes it my maiden diffuser experiment, and hence no chance to reduce the aperture to make the whole subject in focus!

Lately I've been seeing macros, macros, everywhere, and I'm totally jonesing for my 105mm. The lens is currently packed and ready for shipment to Nikon for repair. (I found my warranty -- still looking for my receipt. BLURG!!!) Meanwhile, I try to improvise when possible.

Today I found a tumblebug in my driveway. I got a snap with my 70-200mm and cropped it in close, but I am utterly obsessed with sharpness and wasn't satisfied with this one's level of detail.

I photographed my POTD subject later in the day, just a few steps away. The weeds in the flower and shrubbery beds in front of my house are outta control! One is a 4' tall stemmy growth with a few berries. I haven't been able to identify it yet -- can anyone recommend a user-friendly plant identification database?
