I saw this beautifully coloured rose, and had to capture the moment. I'm glad that I did as this macro captures the beauty within.

Por cierto, debido a su gran belleza es una de las especies buscadas por los coleccionistas. Yo prefiero verlas volando que en un cuadro o vitrina .......

First attempt at trying out an environmental macro capture with Canon G12 set to its widest focal length (roughly 28mm). By setting it to manual focus I was able to have the lens literally within a few centimeters from the mating beetles. The minimum focal distance on the G12 is an incredible 1cm! The 5.6 aperture may not equate to much depth of field on a DSLR sensor but on the smaller G12 sensor it's probably the equivalent to 14f. This along with the wide angle setting makes it a feasible option for environmental macro shots.

Location: Cosmeston Country Park by the Dragonfly Pond

Camera: Canon Powershot G12

Shooting Date/Time: 17.5.14 / 19:12

Shooting mode: Aperture Priority

TV Shutter Speed: 1/125

AV Aperture: 5.6

Metering Mode: Evaluative

ISO: 400

Lens: 6.1 - 30.5mm

Flash: Off / Natural light

AF Mode: Manual Focus

Need I say more... OK, maybe I do. The purpose of this picture was to get a macro of the drops on a car. That failed but it turned out cool anyway. Well, in my humble opinion that is.
