The ant invasion of the Summer '07 begins. This is the result of neighbors leaving trash outside our kitchen door! Bad neighbors, bad!
This picture was taken in my backyard (in Spring 2008). It was my second time trying Macrophotography. I experimented with a lot of lighting position but this one is what I liked the most. Thanks to the shadows, the rose doesn't look flat. This is definitely one of my favorite pictures.
Took this beautiful picture of a rhododendron at brueckner gardens in Mississauga.I was speaking with a Mr David J. Culham and he told me that the gardens is run by mainly volunteers.I think that is a super thing to do and great civic pride.

Proving the value of my latest Cash Crusaders budget find. The Len’s was used but like brand new for R2999. Used it on Portraits and Macro. Excellent value for money. Once you know how to spot a good deal, and find the diminishing return sweet spot, ‘cheaper’ gear can go a long way. Nikon Z equivalents around R15k. 5x Price I don’t think will give 5x the image quality.
Would have helped to have had a bit more focal length so to not need to crop in as much. I was chasing a pollen drenched bee 🐝 around the garden when I spotted this fella. He looked like a bee but with strange eyes. Later learned his true identity.

The other day I thought I was getting another chance to photograph snowflakes before the weather warms up, this time using a tripod. However 80 km/h wind gusts are not conducive to macro photography! At one point when I was about to press the shutter on what I was anticipating would be a pretty decent shot, the wind blew over a light that I had propped nearby onto the subject flake, completely obliterating it for eternity. And then blew the whole setup off the table to make sure I got the message!.
I got nothing, and so decided to re-check images that I had shot earlier but that had not fit what I was looking for at the time. I tried smudging out the fibres, but my initial attempts left the snowflakes looking too detached from reality, so for now I have left them in. Strangely, the shots from this earlier day were all hand held.
