The 2011 Glen Waverley Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival held in the bustling Kingsway precinct has over 30,000 visitors and boasts a truly unique artistic program and a wonderful array of Asian food.
The Chinese Consulate has organised for the Wuhan Iron & Steel Co. (WISCO) Art Troupe, also known as 湖北省青年艺术剧团 Hubei Provincial Youth Art Troupe, China, to be flown out from China to perform at this year's Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival.
Hubei Provincial Youth Art Troupe has performed on a number of significant occassions around the world including in Hong Kong for 'Hubei Week' and the Mondial International Art Festival, Canada.
The Troupe has won many awards over the years and their performance during the Festival should not be missed!

Le sénateur P. Michael Pitfield, le dernier des sept enfants de Ward Chipman Pitfield et de Grace MacDougall, fut nommé à ce poste par Pierre-Elliott Trudeau en 1982. Il s'est joint au Bureau du Conseil privé du Canada en 1965 et en fut le plus jeune greffier durant les années 70 et au début des années 80. L'une de ses premières affectations consista à servir en tant que membre d'un comité spécial mandaté pour créer une nouvelle distinction honorifique nationale. Le résultat a été l'inauguration de l'Ordre du Canada en 1967 - l'ordre national le plus élevé de ce pays. En 1975, à 37 ans, il fut nommé par le premier ministre Trudeau au poste de secrétaire du Cabinet, le poste le plus élevé de la fonction publique fédérale. Il fut le plus jeune Canadien à occuper ce poste. En 1979, il a brièvement quitté la fonction publique pour enseigner à la John F. Kennedy School of Government de l'Université Harvard, en tant que professeur MacKenzie King aux études canadiennes. On y rappelait qu'il devait son pouvoir à une association étroite et de longue date avec Pierre Trudeau, cela, dans une ville de tradition et de réseaux, qui faisait de Pitfield le fonctionnaire le plus controversé et le plus influent du pays. Il a été l'objet de controverses constantes, allant des rapports de ses voyages de vacances de jeunesse avec Trudeau à son compte de dépenses du gouvernement. Pitfield et Lalonde étaient à la retraite de Jean Marchand à Cap Rouge près de Québec en 1965 lorsqu'un petit groupe s'est réuni pour persuader Trudeau de se présenter comme libéral.
À l'âge de 14 ans, trop jeune pour être admis dans une université canadienne, il s'est inscrit à l'Université St. Lawrence à Canton, New York. Il en sortira diplômé en sciences à 16 ans. Il a fréquenté l'Académie militaire des États-Unis à West Point puis est entré à la Faculté de droit de l'Université McGill, obtenant un baccalauréat en droit civil.
Il eut d'abord pour collègues Brian Mulroney et Marc Lalonde au cabinet du ministre de la Justice conservateur Davie Fulton. De 1961 à 1965, il a été attaché du gouverneur général du Canada, Georges Vanier. En 1972, il a été nommé conseiller fédéral de la reine; en 1982, il est nommé commandeur de l'Ordre royal de Victoria par Sa Majesté la reine Elizabeth II en reconnaissance de son travail sur la Constitution du Canada; et, en 1984, il a été nommé membre du Conseil privé de la Reine. En 1984, il a aussi été nommé vice-président du conseil de Power Corporation et administrateur de la Corporation Financière Power, postes qu'il a occupés jusqu'en 2003, année où il a été nommé administrateur émérite de Power Corporation du Canada.
Pendant près de deux décennies, il a siégé au conseil d'administration de l'Institut de cardiologie d'Ottawa et a été président du conseil de 1994 à 2000. En septembre 2003, l'Institut de cardiologie de l'Université d'Ottawa a créé la Chaire Michael Pitfield en chirurgie cardiaque à l'Institut de cardiologie.

Ole and Anne Marie were my 2nd cousins, 5 times removed (see next image)

Yep, it's video time again! While Matt was home from uni we dedided to have a trip to Winchester, a pretty city in Hampshire. We had lunch in MacD's, walked through the shops and round the Cathedral! Hang on till the end to see Matt and JJ!

Air Service Airship C2 Destroyed by Fire The Army Airship C2 enroute from California to Langley Field caught fire and was destroyed while being maneuvered out of a hangar San Antonio Tex prior to resuming its journey Seven were injured including Maj NA Strauss the commander of the ship but none seriously The following telegram sent by Major Strauss to the War gives a detailed account of the mishap C2 completely destroyed while maneuvering from hangar 9.15 this morning Cross hangar wind of fifteen miles with stronger gusts Handling crew of 100 men When was approximately one half out of hangar strong gusts ship to ground Orders given to maneuver ship back hangar immediately After maneuver started section of six feet in diameter to which handling guys and patches secured pulled out followed by breaking of two windward handling guys then followed by falling off of patches third windward handling guy Ship went to leeward into door resulting in breaking up of car and tearing of together with rupture of gasoline tank Approximately one half minute after this occurred hydrogen caught with partial explosion followed by complete burning of except three surfaces The injured are Major Strauss commander Sergeant AD engineer Maj John MacD Thompson 8th Corps Area Headquarters Capt Nelson Valker Ben Baines newspaper reporter Sergeant Harry Bills and Garcia Noranjo None was hurt seriously The C2 started on its transcontinental fiight from Langley Field Va on Sept 24 at 12.22 am The purposes of the flight were to establish a transcontinental airship route assist in the location of possible emergency landing fields both heavier than air and lighter than air craft and to demonstrate the capabilities of the present training type of airship

The MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) plots the difference between a shorter-term (12-bar) and a longer-term (26-bar) exponential moving average (EMA). Bullish and bearish events are generated respectively as the MACD fluctuates above and below zero to indicate whether prices in the shorter term are stronger or weaker than the longer term average. A 9-period EMA of the MACD is overlayed as a "signal line" which smooths out the MACD to provide a clearer view of whether it's moving upward or downward. A bullish event is generated when the MACD crosses above the signal line, showing that the current MACD is actually higher than its average, a sign of increasing strength for the price. The opposite is true for bearish events which signal decreasing strength in price as the MACD crosses below the signal line showing that it's now below average.

The Chinese Consulate has organised for the Wuhan Iron & Steel Co. (WISCO) Art Troupe, also known as 湖北省青年艺术剧团 Hubei Provincial Youth Art Troupe, China, to be flown out from China to perform at this year's Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival.
Hubei Provincial Youth Art Troupe has performed on a number of significant occassions around the world including in Hong Kong for 'Hubei Week' and the Mondial International Art Festival, Canada.
The Troupe has won many awards over the years and their performance during the Festival should not be missed!
