Day thirty-two. I wanted my photo to show my pendent today, but no... However, the photos I did get, I think came out lovely in a glamourous kind of way. This one was Mom's pick for the day.

There is something special, stylish and seductive about lipstick. It promotes beauty, elegance and luxury with the simple twist of a baton and a swipe of application. Even the advertisements for lipstick are glamourous!

The theme for “Looking Close… on Friday” on the 15th of January is “lipstick”, so this is my idea for an advertisement for lipstick using a gold Art Deco baton from the 1930s which once contained a tube of red lipstick and a tube of Coral Colours ‘Raisin’ and MAC ‘Paramour’ lipstick.

Lipstick is a cosmetic that applies protection, texture and mostly colour to the lips. Based on cosmetic cases found at archaeological sites dating back five thousand years, it is thought that Ancient Sumerians were the first to wear lipstick. These ancient cosmetics were made by mixing crushed gemstones with oils and waxes. Ancient Egyptians also wore red lipstick as an indicator of social status. Although the name originally applied to the baton (stick) of material, within a tubular container, usually around ten milimeters in diameter and fifty milometers in length, the term now generally relates to the material itself, regardless of method of application.

I am so lost. I keep hoping one day I will wake up and know what it is that I am doing with my life, but that day has yet to come... And I am doubting it will. I am not happy with what I do now; I know where I am at now will not satisfy me for long and I need to look at the bigger picture, but shit! This is hard. I know that no matter what direction I take, it isn't the end all... But it sure feels like it.

I am at a crossroad. I have an idea- something that would do well (I think)- great business opportunity, but the investment is huge, not only financially, but the commitment I would make with my life and time (years) in this place... I don't know if it is right for me. I think it would make me very happy to have this type of business, and I would be very happy being successful, and I think I could only pull it off in this town, but I don't know if this town is where I want to be in five years or more. How can I commit to something so huge, if I am not sure I want to be here... But if I'm not here, I don't know where I should go and what I could do then.

This way or that, seems nothing is going to be perfect... then again, is anything ever?
