Letztes Jahr kaufte ich ein Konvolut von einem Dutzend Fotos, auf denen eine Adler M 200 abgebildet ist. Wer diese Bilder fotografiert hat und wo sie aufgenommen wurden ist mir nicht bekannt, aber ich vermute, dass sie Mitte der 1950er-Jahreentstanden sind. Die Adler M 200 auf diesem Foto dürfte Baujahr 1953 sein - das Typenband am Tank wurde 1953 eingeführt, während die Dosendeckelbremse aus Stahlblech 1954 einer Leichtmetallbremse weichen musste.
Last year i bought a dozen old photographs showing an Adler M 200 motorcycle. I have no clue who took these pictures and where they were taken. But i think they were shot in the mid-1950ies. The motorbike was definitely built in 1953, judging from the name band on the fuel tank which was introduced in 1953 and the old steel half-hub brake in the front wheel which was replaced with a full-hub brake made of aluminium in 1954.

Meine beiden Adler - vorne die rote M200 von 1953, hinten die schwarze M2011 von 1954. Beide haben einen Hubraum von 200 ccm, aber die M200 ist hat einen Zweizylindermotor, während die M2011 nur einen Zylinder hat.
Die M2011 ist ein Zwitterwesen - die Gabel ist noch von der älteren M-Serie (wie bei der M200), während Tank und Sitz schon von der nachfolgenden MB-Serie sind.
My two Adler motorbikes - the red M200 (built 1953) in front, the black M2011 (built 1954) behind. Both motorcycles are 200 cc, but the M200 is a twin and the M2011 a single.
The M2011 is a transitional model between the older M- and the newer MB-series. While it sports the tank and the seat of the more modern MB it still shares the old front fork with the M-models.

Diesmal scheint die Adler sich mehr Zeit gelassen zu haben, bevor sie wieder in ihrem Wurmloch verschwand. Zeit genug, um sich von Friedrich Wilhelm Pfeiffer, dem Pferdemaler von König Ludwig II. porträtieren zu lassen.
This time the Adler was obviously staying longer in another time. Long enough for Friedrich Wilhelm Pfeiffer, the portraitist of King Ludwig II‘s horses, to immortalize her in one of his paintings.
