De Portzamparc studierte 1962 bis 1969 an der Staatlichen Hochschule der Schönen Künste Paris, unter anderem bei Eugène Beaudouin und Georges Candilis. 1980 gründete er das Atelier Christian de Portzamparc. Eines seiner ersten Projekte war der Wohnkomplex Hautes-Formes im Zentrum von Paris (1979). Weitere bekannte Werke sind die Pariser Opéra-Ballettschule in Nanterre (1987), die Cité de la musique (seit 1995 Philharmonie 2), die Philharmonie Luxembourg (2005) die Cidade das Artes in Rio de Janeiro (2013) sowie der LVMH Tower (1999), Hearst Tower (2000) und One57 (2014), alle in New York City. In Deutschland ist er durch die 2002 fertiggestellte Französische Botschaft in Berlin bekannt geworden.
Er ist seit 2006 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für künstlerisches Schaffen am Collège de France.
1994 gewann er als erster Franzose den renommierten und seit 1979 verliehenen Pritzker-Preis. 1997 wurde ihm die Ehrenmitgliedschaft im Bund Deutscher Architekten (BDA) und 2018 das Praemium Imperiale verliehen.

je vois surtout deux superbes résultats : l'un, qu'un mécène Francais ait fait revivre un véritable monument du "modern art" Parisien et deux , cette restauration a fait travailler de nombreuses corporations en voie d'extinction - petit détail les 18000 fleurs des rambardes ,sur cinq étages sont restaurées à la feuille d'or ! enfin il s'adjoint au chantier 42 logements sociaux ! à visiter impérativement si vous passez par Paris ....
La Samaritaine est un grand magasin situé à Paris entre la rue de Rivoli et la Seine, à l'aplomb du pont Neuf dans le 1ᵉʳ arrondissement de Paris. Fondée en 1870 par Ernest Cognacq.
Après une fermeture pour travaux , il a réouvert en juin 2021 et propose ce qui fait le charme de Paris : la mode, la gastronomie et l’art de vivre.
La découverte des stands est un émerveillement !

Die Stiftung D'entreprise Louis Vuitton ist ein Privatmuseum in Paris. Es entstand auf Initiative von Bernard Arnault, dem Vorstandsvorsitzenden des französischen Luxusartikelkonzerns Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH).
Gezeigt werden in dem von Frank Gehry geplanten und gebauten Museumsgebäude meist Werke des 20. Jahrhunderts.
Das Gebäude liegt am Rande des Jardin d'Acclimatation, nahezu unmittelbar an der Grenze zur Gemeinde Neuilly-sur-Seine, im wunderschönen Park- und Waldgelände des Bois de Boulogne.
Nachdem die Stiftung im Oktober 2006 gegründet wurde und im August 2007 für das Museumsgebäude die städtische Baugenehmigung vorlag, begannen im März 2008 die Bauarbeiten. Die ursprüngliche Eröffnung war bereits für 2009 geplant.
Der letzte Stein wurde am 18. Dezember 2013 verlegt, die Eröffnung fand am 27. Oktober 2014 statt. Sein Originalnamen ist
Le vaisseau de verre
– deutsch: Das Glasschiff.
In 50 Jahren soll es in den Besitz der Stadt übergehen.

La fondation Louis-Vuitton, anciennement "fondation d'entreprise Louis-Vuitton pour la création" lancée en octobre 2005, est une fondation d'entreprise créée par le groupe LVMH et ses maisons. Elle a pour objectif de pérenniser les actions de mécénat engagées depuis 1990 par le groupe.
Le bâtiment objet de la fondation est un musée, conçu par l'architecte Frank Gehry, situé au Jardin d'acclimatation, dans le bois de Boulogne à Paris. Il est notamment consacré à l'art moderne et l'art contemporain.
En 2001, Bernard Arnault rencontre Frank Gehry et lui confie le projet de conception et de création de l'édifice de la fondation. Frank Gehry visite le jardin. Il imagine alors une architecture de verre inspirée par le Grand Palais, mais aussi par les structures de verre, telles que le palmarium, qui ornaient le Jardin d'acclimatation dès 1893. Sous la main de l'architecte, l'édifice en verre prend l'allure d'un voilier aux voiles gonflées par le vent d'ouest, donnant ainsi l'illusion du mouvement.

LE JARDIN D'ACCLIMATATION : Situé en bordure du bois de Boulogne, à côté de la fondation Vuitton, est aujourd'hui un parc d'attractions. Créé à l'époque de Napoléon III, c'était à l'origine un zoo destiné à "acclimater" les animaux en provenance des colonies d'où son nom. Plus tard, il sera reconverti en parc de loisirs et d'agrément. Fin 2017, le groupe LVMH, qui en a la concession, engage de très importants travaux de réaménagement du parc. Une thématique steampunk marque esthétiquement toutes les attractions. Différents évènements sont organisés au cours de l'année, dont un Festival de Lanternes, depuis l'hiver dernier.

Le grand magasin "La Samaritaine", a réouvert en 2021 sur un espace réduit, après une fermeture pour rénovation qui aura duré plus de 15 ans (longues procédures administratives et financières avant rachat par LVMH, puis restauration totale de seulement un tiers du magasin initial, avec réfection totale de la façade côté Rue de Rivoli et gros travaux de remise en conformité du magasin aux normes de sécurité, raison pour laquelle il avait été fermé…)
Sous la verrière du dernier étage, le restaurant "Voyage".
Structure métallique et décors de style "art nouveau" et "art déco" de Frantz Jourdain et Henri Sauvage (1910) inscrits au registre des monuments historiques.
