Localizado em frente à estação da Luz do metrô, na região central de São Paulo, o Parque da Luz foi originalmente criado como um horto botânico, aberto em 1825 ao público como Jardim Público da Luz. Este é o mais antigo e tradicional parque público da cidade.
O local possui área para apresentações, coreto, playground, espelhos d'água, uma gruta com cascata, aquário subterrâneo, equipamentos de ginástica, pista de cooper, paraciclos, áreas de estar, sanitários, mirante, ponto de bonde, lagos, chafariz, além de uma exposição permanente de esculturas, bosque da leitura e o museu Casa do Administrador.
No jardim do parque, é possível encontrar espécies de árvores como o alecrim-de-campinas, o andá-açu, o chichá, a corticeira, o jenipapo, a magnólia-branca, entre outras plantas.
O local também abriga 67 espécies de pássaros e animais como o cágado-pescoço-de-cobra, peixes como carpas, tilápias e acares que vivem no espelho d'água.
Destaca-se o lago em formato de cruz de malta, localizado no centro do parque, rodeado por esculturas que representam as quatro estações do ano.
Próximo ao portão principal, passa a ciclofaixa de lazer, que funciona aos domingos e feriados, das 7h às 16h.
Também é possível visita a Pinacoteca, museu que conta com dez salas que abrigam o acervo com cerca de cem mil obras, além de um espaço da reserva técnica no qual ficam peças em restauração. A área também oferece um delicioso café.

The ancient village of Luz, whose origin dates back to the Paleolithic and Neolithic period, was considered the most significant social impact of building the dam dam, now occupying an area of about 2040 hectares.
The New Village was built in the interest of maintaining the traits and property before, and also built a museum in order to perpetuate the memory of the old village and its people. A collection of ethnographic village, archaeological finds, the museum being provided with a temporary exhibition room.
The village is also equipped with a bullring, a Laundry public also has the role and viewpoint with a beautiful view of the Alqueva, counting also with the Parish Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and a source replica of the Santa present in the old village was said to bring forth miraculous waters.
Throughout the area there are numerous archaeological sites from different periods, many of them made known through the construction of the dam.

A Luz é uma freguesia portuguesa do concelho de Mourão, com 50,90 km² de área e 373 habitantes (2001). Densidade: 7,3 h/km². Grande parte do território desta freguesia foi submerso pelas águas da albufeira da Barragem de Alqueva, a partir de 2002. Foi construída uma nova aldeia, para onde se mudaram todos os habitantes da Luz.
