Ein Fünf-Sterne-Ausblick in die Geschichte von Baku wird dem Gast im Hotel mit Rang und Namen geboten. In direkter Nachbarschaft zur Altstadt und dem sagenhaften Jungfrauenturm nächtigt der weit Gereiste und genießt mit etwas Glück nicht den Blick auf das gegenüberliegende Zimmerfenster, sondern über die Uferpromenade aufs Meer oder in die Gassen des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe.

ENG: Recently I had time again for a stroll in the City West. So I was once again tempted to go to the KaDeWe (department store of the West). Honestly, my last visit is certainly 20 years ago. ☻ Price-wise, nothing has changed, as can be seen from the bottles of wine from the last post. Therefore, there is today something sweet from chocolate for the soul of me for you on the eye. Here, a bottle of wine alone has already cost from 120 euros. Purely architecturally, something has changed, as can be seen in the new escalator system. But more about that later.

GER: Letztens hatte ich mal wieder Zeit für einen Stadtbummel in der City West. So kam ich mal wieder in die Versuchung ins KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens) zu gehen. Ganz ehrlich, mein letzter Besuch ist bestimmt schon 20 Jahre her. ☻ Preislich hat sich nichts verändert, wie an den Flaschen Wein zu erkennen ist vom letzten Post. Deshalb gibt es heute etwas süßes aus Schokolade für die Seele von mir für euch aufs Auge. Hier hat eine Weinflasche allein schon ab 120 Euro gekostet. Rein architektonisch hat sich schon was verändert, wie am neuen Rolltreppen System zu sehen ist. Dazu aber später mehr.
CLASSIC REMISE Düsseldorf
Bereits 1989 gründete Jörg Bratke von Bergen in Trier ein Autohaus mit dem Fokus auf hochwertige Fahrzeuge. 1995 folgte dann eine Dependance in Luxemburg, im Jahre 2006 fand die Expansion mit einer Niederlassung in der Düsseldorfer Classic Remise ihren konsequenten Fortgang.
Bei einer 4-Seenfahrt auf den Seen in Schwerin sind wir an zahlreichen Bootshäusern vorbei gekommen. Manchmal passten die Yachten auch gar nicht mehr in ihre "Garage" und in manchen Häuschen würde sich wohl auch auf Dauer leben lassen .
At a 4-Lakes trip on the lakes in Schwerin we have come past numerous boathouses. Sometimes the yachts fit also no longer in their "garage" and in some houses you could probably live permanently.

Das Expeditionsschiff MEANDER
Die MEANDER wurde 1946 auf einer deutschen Werft in Hamburg gebaut. Diese Werft in Finkenwerder war damals bekannt für den Bau von starken Schiffen und baute die MEANDER mit einem eisverstärkten Rumpf. Das bedeutet, dass die MEANDER problemlos in der Arktis operieren kann. Bis in die 1990er Jahre wurde MEANDER als Fischereifahrzeug betrieben. 1995 wurde sie für die Beförderung von Passagieren zu einem Luxus-Segelschiff umgebaut. Das Schiff hat Stürme bis Windstärke 11 in der berüchtigten Drake-Passage rund Kap Hoorn problemlos überstanden und kann daher als bewährtes Seeschiff bezeichnet werden.
Die traditionelle Takelage und der robuste Schiffsrumpf machen diesen Zweimast-Stagsegelschoner zu einem besonders seetüchtigen Segelschiff.
The Expedition Ship MEANDER
The MEANDER was built in 1946 at a German shipyard in Hamburg. This shipyard in Finkenwerder was known at the time for building strong ships and built the MEANDER with an ice-reinforced hull. This means the MEANDER can easily operate in the Arctic. Until the 1990s, the MEANDER was used as a fishing vessel. In 1995, she was converted into a luxury sailing ship for passenger transport. The ship has easily weathered storms up to force 11 in the infamous Drake Passage around Cape Horn and can therefore be considered a proven seagoing vessel.
The traditional rigging and robust hull make this two-masted staysail schooner a particularly seaworthy sailing ship.

Das Albergo Gelsomino wurde 1927 vom italienischen Architekten Rodolfo Petracco entworfen und gebaut und war ursprünglich ein Gästehaus für italienische Beamte. Das Gebäude wurde in den letzten Jahren restauriert und beherrbergt nun ein Hotel am Strand mit Blick auf den Hafen und die Stadt Kos.
Albergo Gelsomino was designed and built in 1927 by Italian architect Rodolfo Petracco and was originally a guesthouse for Italian officials. The building has been restored in recent years and is now a beachfront hotel overlooking the harbor and the town of Kos.

Das Mysterium von Hammām. In einer Flasche.

Hammām is a turkish or oriental bath. It's not just about cleansing the body – a visit is a true celebration of body and soul. Here, everyday life is simply washed away in pleasant warmth under dim light, lots of soap foam and water – true luxury. The Hammām is a further development of the Greco-Roman baths that the Byzantines used, later the Arabs took over.
The soap foam here in my picture is in a small bottle, which is perhaps more suitable for a fragrance essence than for a full bath, at least for our proportions, the front section measures 1.2 inches ;-) The two bottles in blue and red come from a wonderful trip from Egypt ...

Als Hammām wird ein türkisches oder orientalisches Bad bezeichnet. Es geht nicht nur um die Reinigung des Körpers – ein Besuch ist ein wahres Fest für Körper und Seele. Hier wird der Alltag in angenehmer Wärme unter gedämpftem Licht, viel Seifenschaum und Wasser einfach weggespült - wahrer Luxus. Der Hammām ist eine Weiterentwicklung des griechisch-römischen Bades, das die Byzantiner benutzt haben, später haben es die Araber übernommen.
Der Seifenschaum hier in meinem Bild befindet sich in einer kleinen Flasche, die vielleicht doch eher für eine Duftessenz als für ein Vollbad geeignet ist, jedenfalls für unsere Größenverhältnisse, der Ausschnitt vorn misst 3 cm ;-) Die beiden Flaschen in Blau und Rot stammen von einer wunderschönen Reise aus Ägypten ...
