When I took this image in 2009, the Hotel Palisade had been closed for over a year. It remained disused until it reopened in March 2015.
The site (35 Bettington Street, Millers Point) originally featured a public house built around 1880 near the historic palisade fence that ran from Munn Street to Bettington Street. The pub was popular with wharf workers before the Sydney Harbour Trust built the current five-storey Federation Free style structure in its place.
Federation architecture was the architectural style in Australia that was prevalent from around 1890 to 1915. The name refers to the Federation of Australia on 1 January 1901, when the Australian colonies collectively became the Commonwealth of Australia.
The architectural style had antecedents in the Queen Anne style and Edwardian style of the UK, combined with various other influences like the Arts and Crafts style. There are 12 recognised sub-sets of Federation architecture, of which Federation Free is one.
The Palisade's architect was Henry D Walsh, the Trust's chief engineer. The building opened for business in 1912 and was intended for the port workers and local community. At the time was the highest building in Sydney.
Following its refurbishment as an up-market facility with a ground-floor bar, three floors of luxury suites and two further floors of dining areas (indoors and balcony) with grand sweeping views of Sydney Harbour, the building was sold at auction in March 2015 with an anticipated income stream of A$1 million a month!

You've gone and done it again! The last time you were in Las Vegas, seven months ago, you had a big steak dinner and two double Bourbons at Carversteak at Resorts World. You immediately went to Gatsby's Cocktail Lounge at Resorts World and had two cocktails. And then you promptly took the elevator all the way up to the Resorts World Penthouse for three more cocktails at Alle' 66! You made your way back down to your hotel guest room and practically passed out in bed. 😒🍹🍹🍹 This time between the Collins, AZUL, and Papi Steak, you've overdone it again. You don't really have a drinking problem -- It's just that sometimes you like to Drink Well, Eat Well, and then Sleep Well. 😏😴
So unless you wish to try your luck at Latin Dance Night at AZUL, or dance some Swing and Hustle at the ‘No Where’ Speakeasy, you should just call it a day and Sleep Well Tonight and be ready for Flickr Camera Safari all day tomorrow! What do you think?
The hallway, with closets on both sides, separates the bedroom and the bathroom, in one of the bedrooms inside a two bedroom apartment at the Wynn Encore Las Vegas. The place is so large that only a fisheye lens can capture it all with one image.

Why do you LOVE The Fontainebleau Las Vegas? Did you and your very lovely lady cry when the old El Rancho Hotel & Casino was torn down 17+ years ago to make room for the Fontainebleau? No You Didn’t — Because you two didn’t care — At least until it began to become painfully apparent that they weren’t all that anxious or motivated to finish building that big blue building up on the far north Las Vegas Strip. More than 15+ years ago, you and your very lovely lady began having colorful fantasies about all the fine dining rooms, decadent nightclubs, and luxury poolside cabanas y’all were eventually going to luxuriate in. But nothing happened and that really tall big blue building sat abandoned for years! And then they finally finished building Resorts World! And you LOVED Resorts World! And then they finally finished building the Fontainebleau Las Vegas!
And then you and your very lovely lady finally began to believe! 😅
And that is why you LOVE The Fontainebleau Las Vegas! 😈😇
Duc de Crillon Historical Suite
Four suites at the Hôtel de Crillon recall the splendor of the past particularly vividly, being entirely decorated in their original style.
The original wood panelling of the “Duc de Crillon” suite (formerly the private chapel of the Crillon family) is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of New York.

The Kentucky Castle, also known as Castle Post, Martin Castle and Versailles Castle, is a castle in Kentucky, located in Versailles, Kentucky, near Lexington, Kentucky, 201 Pisgah Pike near the Woodford County line, part of a 50 acres (20 ha) estate. Construction on the castle was started by Rex Martin and his wife Caroline Bogaert Martin in 1969, after they had returned from a trip to Germany and were inspired by the architecture and many famous buildings they had seen in Europe. The finished project was to have seven bedrooms, fifteen bathrooms, a fountain in the driveway, and a tennis court. In 1975, the Martins divorced and left the castle unfinished. Over the years, it became a popular oddity and roadside photo-op for tourists. In 1988 Rex Martin put it on the market, but died before it was sold. In 2003 the so-called "Martin Castle" was sold for 1.8 million dollars to Thomas R. Post, a lawyer from Miami who graduated from University of Kentucky, and the name was changed to "The Castle Post". It had been for sale for many years at a price rumored to be more than 3 million dollars.
On May 10, 2004, after months of renovations, tragedy struck when newly installed woodwork and wiring caught fire in the main building. Approximately twice the castle's original cost went towards the reconstruction project. Reconstruction was completed in fall 2008. New additions includes twelve luxury suites, a library, game room, music room, dining hall, ball room, swimming pool, formal garden, basketball court, bar, and tennis court. In November, 2010 the property was listed for sale at $30,000,000 and was sold in 2017.

Our two bedroom apartment at the Wynn Encore Las Vegas has, obviously, two bedrooms. Each equipped with full sized King beds, huge and luxurious marble bathrooms with steam showers and jetted soaker tub. It is all tricked out as far as technology goes, too, with TV's in the bathroom walls, another flat screen rising out of the cabinet in front of the bed, full surround sound throughout the bedroom. A touchscreen pad controls everything in the room, from temperature, drapes, lights, and of course the television. I could seriously live in this room and never leave or have to get out of bed!
