The Grund area is calm and still has the atmosphere of a small village. It is a really nice and historic place for a walk and an ideal place to stroll in Luxembourg. Located in a basin, you will have to go down via the Saint-Esprit lift or walking the small winding cobbled streets to reach it. But it’s worth it! Walking is the best way to savor the peace and tranquility of the neighborhood.
With its quiet and relaxing atmosphere, the Grund district is a great place to wander around, in both summer and winter, to enjoy the beautiful landscapes. It is surrounded by trees, stone buildings and ancient bridges. There, simply look up to enjoy a magnificent view of the green heights of the Ville-Haute or discover a detail on the historic buildings.

1975 Luxembourg morning
I arrived from London too late to find a decent priced hotel. I spread my sleeping bag below the weeping willow tree behind a church. This is what I saw when I awoke, people hurrying to work across the bridge through the fog. At that time, I was young, free and that morning felt so true and full of promise. I was 25.
Here's one from my trip today to the valley of the Sauer in the North of Luxembourg - Éisléck. Very cold but great nature!

The Abbey of Echternach is a Benedictine monastery in the town of Echternach, in eastern Luxembourg. The Abbey was founded by St Willibrord, the patron saint of Luxembourg, in the 7th century. For three hundred years, it benefited from the patronage of a succession of rulers, and was the most powerful institution in Luxembourg.
The abbey is now a popular tourist attraction, and owes much of its modern fame to an annual dancing procession that is held every Whit Tuesday. Tens of thousands of tourists, day-trippers, pilgrims, and clergy visit Echternach to witness or participate in the traditional ceremony.
