"La Disparition" is a book written by Georges Perec. In this book, there are no words using the letter "e." The book took several years to translate into Spanish - with a vocabulary omitting the letter "e." What Perec wished to expose was that a society without one of its cultures is like the alphabet missing one of its most important letters.
Perec focussed on the problems of the Holocaust while, several centuries ago, Montaigne dealt with the issues of the Portuguese Inquisition. In the end we could say, "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose".
The wind blows ripples into sand dunes in the Lake Mungo lunette. Millions of sand grains being blown up the windward surface of a dune form a series of ridges and troughs called wind ripples. The bouncing sand grains more often then not land on the windward side of each ripple creading a low ridge. The spacing of the ridges and troughs is related to the average distance grains jump and is determined by by the wind velocity and grain size. The dunes stretch in a continuous arc for approximately 40km. NSW, Australia.

Every time I saw this sculpture and the glasses on the table, I could only think of John Lennon and his musical legacy. This sculpture was located in front of the hotel where he recorded the song "Give peace a chance" during his "bed-in" with Yoko Ono in 1969. Peace for all today!

Walls of China, Mungo National Park are a place to time travel. Travel back 60,000 years to when todays lunettes were created in rich lush forests. Wind, rain and drought have transformed the landscape to what we see today. These two images were taken at sunset.

An full Easter moon rises as the sun sets over one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world. The Walls of China is a lunette that sits on the eastern side of the ancient Lake Mungo stretching for more than 33 km. It is made up of three distinct layers; the reddish Gol Gol layer, formed between 100,000 and 120,000 years ago, while the archaeologically prolific middle greyish layer or Mungo layer, deposited between 50,000 and 25,000 years ago with the most recent Zanci layer, which is pale brown, being laid down mostly between 25,000 and 15,000 years ago. The scientific evidence shows that Aboriginal people have lived at Mungo for at least 45,000 years. This is the dated age of the oldest stone artifacts and human remains that have been found so far, and represents a lineage that extends back over some 2000 generations. Lake Mungo dried up almost 14,000 years ago and is located in the deep Outback of NSW, Australia

Mungo National Park is located in Outback NSW. It has been inhabited for the last 40,000+ years and has seen many changes, from rich river lands, lush with forests to the now semi arid landscape. Time has sculptured amazing scenery which at sunrise and sunset change color by the minute. One feature of the area is the 'Wall of China' filled with lunettes. This is but one of the many.
This is sacred land.
This land is spiritual.

Tangara à lunettes noires male / Black-goggled Tanager Male / Trichothraupis melanops
The black-goggled tanager (Trichothraupis melanops) is a species of bird in the family, Thraupidae. It is the only member of the genus Trichothraupis. It is found at low levels in forest and woodland in a large part of eastern and southern Brazil, eastern Paraguay and far north-eastern Argentina, with a disjunct population along the East Andean slope in Peru, Bolivia and far north-western Argentina. While generally common and widespread, and consequently considered to be of least concern by BirdLife International and IUCN, the population associated with the Andes is relatively local and uncommon.
The underparts are tawny, the back and head are dull brownish-olive, and the tail and wings are contrastingly black (the latter with a white speculum that is difficult to see when perched, but conspicuous in flight). The male has a yellow crown patch and a large black patch around the eyes (the black "goggles" for which the species is named).
