Still a shot from last year. I haven't got the energy to go out shooting at the moment. I will be starting on the new therapy soon. Hopefully it will make me feel better. I will have to go to LUMC (University hospital of Leiden) every month to receive the drug intravenously. On Tuesday I have my first appointment. Not yet for the therapy, I first have to for all kinds of scans and bloodtests before commencement. Like a "before" and "after" registration.

Fourty years ago today: an Amsterdam - Brussels Benelux train just south of the Leiden CS station.

The train is gone now, and the grey building at the left has a new owner. The new LUMC hospital in the background has been finished of course.

LUMC. Blood bank and hospital buildings.

While I was setting up for this photo two fellows from a well-known corporate security company approached me, asking why I was taking pictures of the blood bank. They also told me that the businesses around here don't like this type of activity. Rather than explain what I was actually taking a photo of, I played dumb and said I'd be a good citizen.

These kinds of folk usually assume I'm a student before I even have time to answer. Maybe I should go along with this?

Leiden, Rijnsburgerweg, voormalig terrein van de zusterflat van het AZC/LUMC en later van een asielzoekerscentrum (COA). Momenteel staan alleen de bankjes er nog en is het gebouw met de grond gelijk gemaakt. 5 mei 2017.

Pencil and ecoline ink on paper. This is my ode to the friendly, competent and overworked staff at the Leyden University Medical Centre (LUMC). They answered the call, from different departments, and came to help in a crisis. Not just nurses and doctors, but also catering staff (quite a few ex-restaurant workers) and cleaning staff ( from all walks of life). I thank you all.

A morning view of the back of Leiden Central Station. The busy hart of Leiden, students rush over the cyclist lanes towards their college, and people are going to work with the public transport. This place is always buzzing with energy.

This image is a panorama created from 7 exposure blended images making a total of 21 bracketed shots taken handheld on a glorious morning in March 2017 from the top floor of the LUMC Parking lot.

The nicest illuminated building in the area. This building, adjacent to Leiden Central Station and right next to the Leiden University Medical Center, houses a school, a hotel, a rehab center, several restaurants, a gym and a sauna/pool/wellness center.

Benelux train to Brussels leaving Leiden. In the early eighties Leiden had a connection to Belgium every hour. Trains left at .58 on track 8. In the background the new AZL/LUMC medical center is being built.

High work pressure in corona time for medical staff

Taken around the Leiden University Medical Centre (het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum).

This shot was taken from platform 9 of Leiden Central station. The LUMC blood storage facility Sanquin. Damaged in February this year when the right ventilator exploded. The damage can be seen here by the burn marks from the fire that raged for a few hours (goo.gl/SXtX0A, video).

This was shot on the ambulance ramp leading to the ER of the Leiden University Medical Centre. Due to the strong light in the sky, the light balance was difficult to control. This is a classic scene for HDR, but I decided not to set up my tripod, remote control etc on the ambulance entrance of a major university hospital in a densely populated area. For obvious reasons.

The shot was processed in Lightroom 3.4, where I darkened the sky by almost 2 stops (carefully using the Adjustment Brush), and increased the overall exposure of the shot.
