A Blue Tit being trained by Yoda ?

Hardly a Millennium Falcon.

The Tunisian town of Tataouine modelled by George Lucas for the Star Wars planet.

I was treated to this magnificent view as I climbed the ancient, uneven steps of Skellig Michael while on pilgrimage. I wish I took more shots than I ended up taking but the path is extremely dangerous and one wrong move would most likely result in death which is not what I was aiming for. The boat ride from Portmagee, County Kerry, Ireland, lasted around 1 hour. It’s a hard place to visit as landing on Skellig Michael is completely weather dependant. This particular part of the Atlantic is known for its choppy nature. I literally felt like I was the luckiest guy on Earth when I stepped onto the island. I came here to visit the most Westerly Christian site in Europe. The monastery at the top of Great Skellig was founded by 4th century monks, possibly earlier. The exact date of its foundation doesn’t seem to be known but that doesn’t matter when you’re standing within it’s beautiful walls.

Multi-level ghorfas, as seen at Ksar Ouled Soltane in southern Tunisia.

Ksar Ouled Soltane is a fortified granary, or ksar, located in the Tataouine district in southern Tunisia. The ksar is spread out over two courtyards, each of which has a perimeter of multi-story vaulted granary cellars, or ghorfas.

Like other ksour (plural of ksar) built by Berber communities Ksar Ouled Soltane, is located on a hilltop, to help protect it from raiding parties in previous centuries.

Ksar Ouled Soltane is now a tourist destination, with visitors coming to see its well-preserved granary vaults. It was also featured in the film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace in some of the scenes used to represent the slave quarters of Mos Espa, where the character Anakin Skywalker lived as a boy.

Star Wars Episode V: the Empire Strikes Back

12Km off the South Western coast of County Kerry, Ireland lies Skellig Michael. Christian Monks built a monastery on the top and dedicated it to Saint Michael The Archangel. They came here for solitude as all monks do hoping to hear God’s voice loud and clear. There is an imaginary line that runs from Ireland to Israel. Seven monasteries all dedicated to Saint Michael run along this line that is known as “The Legendary Sword Of Saint Michael”. Stories from the ancient past tell us that the line represents the blow from St Michael’s sword that cast Satan into Hell. When I learned of St Michael’s Line, I felt a spiritual calling from God to come to each one these monasteries and pray. The success rate for landing on the island via boat (the sole way of visiting the island) was only 65% the previous year. It’s only possible to attempt to land between the months of May & September. I booked my place on one of the several boats that take you to Skellig Michael in November 2022. I had seven long months of waiting to see if I would be one of the lucky ones to make it. I would only know in the morning of departure. As the morning of departure arrived, I looked to the sky which was clear and blue. I arrived at the doc and the captain announced that we will be leaving for Skellig Michael. I was overjoyed. The ocean was extremely choppy so the boat ride was intense as I flew through the air several times landing on the soaking deck, exchanging a safer landing for holding onto my camera. I felt fear and sheer admiration for the monks that came to Skellig Michael centuries ago in rowing boats. This was one of the greatest achievements of my life. Making it up the dodgy stairs to the monastery will remain with me for as long as I draw breath. This is where Star Wars was filmed too. Luke Skywalker was here but I was more impressed by the mental monks. You can see the beehive cells on top by zooming in.

Luke approaches one of the attacking Blizzard AT-ATs with a grappling hook and his saber on his hand. He has a plan!

As a photographer, a common theme I like to find is minimal geometry and patterns in nature or man-made objects.

This photo represents geometrical patterns and shapes created by the architecture and reflection of the Prudential Plaza in Jacksonville, FL. I walk past this building so many times, but one day managed to stand underneath it, and discovered this magic.

The architect is KBJ Architects from Jacksonville, FL, a firm responsible for shaping the incoming Jacksonville skyline we have today.

Thanks for your time!

accumulating quite the collection of lego/starwars figures... need more, much much more...

A few hours after the last photo, the snow was both softer and stickier, allowing Luke to hang from the actual snow.

After his crash-landing, Luke Skywalker finds himself pursued by the forces of the Empire.

A bit of fun - trying to re-create a classic SW cast shot in 1:6... though Leia's wearing the wrong dress.

Luke is fixing one of a moisture vaporators on Tatooine. Treadwell, a repair droid is here to help as much as he can... the look on Luke's face is telling that, he ain't really much helping at all, in contrary, he is trying to tell a jokes of moisture farmers!

Han hoped the Imperials would fall for the same old song and dance.

An overview of the hangar set I made (though in reality, it's little more than a single wall!) If I'm honest it doesn't really convince - the set's not deep enough for the perspective trick to work, which is why the other photos I took were close-up's - but I thought you guys might like to see it nevertheless.

Manche würden sagen; oh schön Lego im Schnee.

Ich hingegen sage: Schaut her, da ist Luke Skywalker auf Erkundungstour auf dem Planeten Hoth.

Some would say; oh nice Lego in the snow.

I, on the other hand, say: look, there's Luke Skywalker exploring the planet Hoth.
