I often think Luke is part cat. He will cuddle with you. He will follow you everywhere. He barks at everyone he meets and he sounds loud and mean but he is basically telling you to come and pet him. He is so loving it is crazy.

I called him a few names. Bubba-Luke. Lukey Madukey. He would lay at my feet sometime with his head on my feet whi;le I fooled with a new song of mine.
We had to put this great old guy to rest the other day and the house feels so empty without him.

Morrigan and Luke paused long enough for me to get this gorgeous picture of them on our vacation. Ohau has been lovely for us all so far. We have enjoyed everything from beach sunrises and sunsets, to scuba diving and more. Uncle Caleb even got engaged. Luke has begun a rivalry with the peacock that strolls by our bungalow deck every day, but that was to be expected with him.

Sorry that I've been kind of dormant the last week or so. Just been taking a break and did some crazy during that time.
I adopted a kitty!! So I would like you all to meet Luke, hope you all give him a warm welcome to the Flickr community!
He's only 7 months old and was originally found as a stray in Indiana and then transferred to Vermont. He loves to play and is insanely affectionate.
Expect a lot of pictures!
After a good rain we experienced a beautiful sky. I grabbed my camera, and Luke willingly (after a walk with me) volunteered to be a Good Boy and sit and enjoy the beautiful sky Our Lord and Savior painted for us.

Well, one out of two isn't bad. Merry Christmas all. This is Luke Chapter Two as recorded in an antique family bible handed down to my dear, very trusting and forgiving wife. It's illuminated by a candle which I carved to reveal its wick to the camera and to prevent a shadow falling on the text.
It's a stacked image taken using a 12mm extension tube, with a vignette and some grain added.
HMM all.

In our household our hearts are turning towards Christmas and the greatest story ever told. My younger sister is a talented singer/songwriter and on her latest album (a Christmas album - check it out on iTunes: apple.co/21GQ524) she shared a song she wrote by the name "Luke Chapter 2". I had that song in mind when I thought of the concept of this image. The Bible opened to Luke Chapter 2 and the story of the birth of Jesus with the lights of Christmas blazing in bokeh beyond. I tried a few different approaches, but settle on this SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4 lens with a single Metz 64 AF-1 flash and a Lite Genius Super Scoop II defuser a ways behind the camera so that the light would be soft by the time it hit the bright white pages of the Bible. The end result is pretty cool, I think, and is almost straight out of camera.
Technical Information: Canon EOS 6D, SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4, Processed in Adobe Lightroom CC, Photoshop CC, and Alien Skin Exposure X (use code "dustinabbott" to get 10% off)

It's that time of the year again! I can't believe it's already happening. This year went by WAY too fast.
Today is my birthday too!
Anyways, I tried to get a holiday picture with the cat shooting through the tree but he just didn't want to look at me. He was really focused on attacking the lights haha.

I actually started painting this one a few weeks ago, then I got sidetracked. I finally finished it up today. This is Photoshop over a pencil sketch.
Stained glass in St Martin's parish church, Caerphilly. This shows St Luke, Evangelist and dates from 1960. Luke is shown with his symbols of brushes and the serpent and the Rod of Asclepius (referring to his profession as a physician). Luke is standing on the ox, another symbol associated with the evangelist
