Back to my first love, black and white photography, after 25 years of loyalty and my betrayal at the beginning of last year.
Returning to B&W after a year of color is a bit like coming home after a long trip: you feel good there, but different, and you have to find your marks, again.
Welcome to this enchanted parenthesis on Istanbul, slipped between two series in color.
These are very loyal dogs. My grandparents had a couple on their farm; they guarded the sheep and other livestock. After eight years absence, I returned to the farm to visit; both dogs joyously jumped telling me they had recognized me.
It was a difficult decision to keep this street scene in colour but the little bit of pink on the dog's collar made me to, sorry B&W lovers...

Having a dog is 99% of the time following each other around, watching each other go to the loo, and wondering what each other has in their mouth!

In what seemed like a futile display of love and loyalty, this ram stands guard over the body of a dead sheep in a barren paddock in the outback of South Australia. He never moved more than a few paces from the body and was obviously distressed at my presence. Moved by his concern I took this and several other photos and wondered how long it would be until he met a similar fate in this place without water or food.
A lot of Thanks to Herr Olsen that he let his dog posing for me.
