Captured this image in a parking lot of a local San Francisco discount supermarket. Like many places in this area, drought resistant ground cover is rapidly replacing the traditional lawns and plants. Plant stores have always sold plants and foliage that was suited for the local area but indigenous has become the norm for landscaping for a long time now; and even more when faced with a drought such as California has been. Not much upkeep to this little island of plant life.

Basically dry-tolerant plantings that require little maintenance. The trees are Norfolk Island Pines, the strap-leaved ornamental 'grasses' I've currently not identified.
