Driving through stormy rain; and thunderclouds I pulled over on the driver back home from Glen Coe (Scotland, UK) for a desperate comfort break (mama ain’t too proud) so much was it needed that I couldn’t care less about getting drenched …when the rain suddenly halted (lucky me). Business taken care of bacterial hand wipes administered I reached for my camera to capture this out of worldly light that the changing weather gifted me.

People come, people go

People high, people low

People stay, people change

People lie, people don't

I don't fulfill my potential

'Cause everyone around me is so self-referential

Hypocritical, maybe, a petulant baby

(Wah wah wah, shut up)

Shut up, you're driving me crazy

Call me a lowlife, that shit don't faze me

I'm alright on my own, I don't need you to save me

This image was created from multiple exposures blended together in Photoshop CS6 layers using the "Lighten" blend mode. All exposures were taken with a single Paul C. Buff Einstein strobe with a 22" beauty dish attached to a Elinchrom boom arm and a 3-stop B&W ND filter attached to my lens. If you send me a FlickrMail message, I'll be more than happy to send you some information on mostly how I photograph this style and what equipment I use, along with some YouTube video links that help explain this process.

These just bloomed today. We've had this one since 2005. One of our faves.

Took this while walking towards the waterfront. As a footnote this area fifty years ago was about as bad as you can get filled with lowlifes, hookers, winos, muggers and other ne'er do wells and you couldn't pay me to go into this area after dark. But it is amazing as now they are building forty-fifty story luxury condominiums/rentals where you can bet your ass even the studios have seven figure price tags or if it's a rental people are paying 6-8K month for a one bedroom this area has become much cleaner and safer. Of course to make it easier they have round the clock high speed ferry service which takes you into midtown or the Wall Street area in just several minutes so no worrying about a schizophrenic homeless guy who thinks you are a spawn of Satan throwing you in front of a subway train for you! I grew up in this city but for the last fifty years this city has been increasingly a city of the very poor and the very well off with no room or care of the needs of the middle class and only providing good quality services if an area has financially very well off people in it.

“We’re forced to move ahead. However dark the path. One might mourne for the pass, fear for the future, begging for a rewind, yet we’ll keep walking, even when we wouldn’t want to.”

The instruments do not sleep in their dark cribs / They keep cool, meditate / They have speech with strangers / Come all ye faithless / Young and crazy victims of love / Come the lowlife and the highborn / All ye upside-down shitasses / Bring your own light / Come in. Be lost. Be still / If you miss us at home / We’ll be on our way to the reckoning (Mette Rasmussen, poem by C. D. Wright)

Bottom line is I hate coyotes. They don't hunt, they are Nature's lowlife opportunist. But our pack at Grizzly Ranch is healthy and beautiful. And they are fun to watch.

CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF BRILLIANT BOWERY PERFORMANCE

On September 7, JACKIE FACTORY producers CHI CHI VALENTI and JOHNNY DYNELL presented

their second annual HOWLUCINATION to crown the 2008 HOWL! FESTIVAL.

LOW LIFE CITY was a two hour theatrical showcasing the East Village - and especially, The Bowery, in a lavishly costumed production starring dozens of downtown's finest. A time-travelling, bawdy and witty cavalcade of talent, this show is not recommended for children!

HOWLUCINATION '08: LOW LIFE CITY was inspired by the seminal LUC SANTE book "LOW LIFE: The Lures and Snares of Old New York." It continues a body of work born at JACKIE 60 a decade ago, with past editions in London, Minneapolis and of course, last year's HOWL! For the show's producers, East Village residents for over two decades, this annual show is a Valentine to the neighborhood's past, present and future stars.

Back from our trip to Somerset. This is one of the shots I took in the New Forest near Ringwood on on our first day away in the rain and winds, tomorrow i`ll post one of the last shots on our last evening in Somerset which was a complete contrast to rain and winds.

With this image we were quite high as can be seen by the state of the trees, the lovely Heather has by now seen it`s best . Sadly the beauty of this spot is spoilt as a few yards behind where I took this shot some lowlife had dumped a mattress and two large Gas cylinders in a bush.

always wondered who was the first person to make a steering wheel from a chain....

Unspeakable cruelty on a grouse moor in 2020. This was within a few yards of The Dukes Road, and within a mile of the Bearded Vultures roosting site.

I had to think long and hard about posting this rather grim picture. There is no point trying to sugar coat the depths of depravity some lowlifes will stoop.
