10 years from now... As my wrinkles on my forehead seem to be more visible, my anxiety is more apparent. He said it's been 10 years since we last spoke. I could not remember. I am 38 now and I am more conscious about how I look. He is in town he said.
After the tragedy a year ago, I am becoming more oblivious. There are some parts of my life that I have forgotten. My best friend told me that I used to be great at recognizing faces and voices. But now, it seems like everyone around me is a bunch of strangers. "Hello." That voice. It sounds so familiar. I am waiting at a corner of a cafe. My thoughts are outside, trying to remember that very familiar voice. I look behind me and I see this very beautiful face. "How are you?" He asked. (To be continued)

1 year ago before the actual story.... I was walking fast while replying to all my messages on the phone. Suddenly, an unfamiliar number appeared on my screen and I accidentally answered it. "Alessandra, speaking," I spoke. "Hey, bae." a very familiar voice answered on the other line.
Bae was so 9 years ago. And there was only one person who called me that. He was 8 years younger when I met him. I was working as sales manager that time and he was an intern at a law firm. The first time I met him, he was really sweaty. I had him waiting for 30 minutes. Oh, I was really far from the city and I had to take the train. But his elegance, his smile and his beautiful face just made me regret being so late. I knew he was pissed off, but he started talking like he was not. He was talking about his Chinese class that he went for the first time. That was the first time I heard his voice.
I was wondering a few weeks ago on when would I hear his voice again. I missed his face. I missed his voice, his smile, his naughty stares and him. And now, he suddenly called. "Danny?" I asked. It was a very hot and humid day. I was trying to cross the street from my one laundry shop to another. The 10-year old machine stopped working. I knew I should have called the manufacturer. "Yes. How are you bae?" he asked. "Oh, I am not expecting your call. Are you okay?" I replied. But that time, I was almost going to faint. Damn, it has been ages since he left Taipei. And from there, we stopped talking. His family did not want him to have an Asian girlfriend, especially an older one. Of course. "Yes, I am, indeed. Thank you," he added. "So what's going on?" I hesitantly replied. "I am getting married," he replied softly.
When I heard his last few words, my world just abruptly stopped. Literally. And too late I realized that I was in the middle of the street. When everything was audible and visible again, I heard a white car honking loudly, approaching to where I was standing. "Damn it!", my last words. (To be continued...)

10 years from now... "I am fine... I guess." I replied. I look at him and it is his eyes that I first notice, it's round, dark and I could look into his soul by just looking at him. I could tell that he is excited and anxious at the same time.
Leslie, my best friend told me earlier that he was the most loving, honest and sincere man I've ever loved. If it was true, then how possible it is for me not to remember even the feelings, at all. His perfectly well-shaped eyebrows are distracting. Am I feeling attracted to him? Or he is just amazingly gorgeous? "Yeah, I know. You used to look at me that way." he interrupted my thoughts. "I'm Danny. If you need to remember," he added. I offered my hand first for some reasons, oh God, I am really nervous this time. "Alex, but it's Alessandra. My friends call me Alex." I replied. My voice is trembling. I try to calm down. He shakes my hand so gently. I could feel that he is nervous too. It's sweating. "Please have a seat." I offered. "Thank you," he replied. "Do you want me to call you Alex, or bae?" he continued. "Bae." Damn, I remember something. Yes. Leslie laughed about it when she was trying to recall everything about Danny. She calls it cheesy even when I was 28. It was a thing 10 years ago. "I am not sure that it's a good idea, Danny." Interrupted by a tall and good looking man standing in front of us while holding two mugs of cafΓ¨ latte. I see his troubled eyes looking straight at Danny. (Back to 1 year ago before the actual story....) "I'm Jackson. If you could hear me, I was the one who saved you when you hit by a car." the stranger continued. "I am from New York and just arrived here for a modeling job that's offered to me." He added. "I have been here for 3 weeks almost everyday to see how you are doing. Please do any thing to let me know you are okay? At least do something?" He requested worriedly. "See what you've done just now bae? You can do in this world when you believe you can." It echoed a million times. As I started to lift my index finger, the echo was fading. Danny's face started to blur... "Oh God! Nurse! Nurse! Nurse!" He exclaimed. He was panicking. The echo of Danny's voice, I could no longer hear. I was becoming weak. All I could hear now was the cardiac monitor's loud and annoying sound. It just could not stop. I could not breathe, my eyes started to close. (To be continued)

1 year ago before the actual story.... I was walking fast while replying to all my messages on the phone. Suddenly, an unfamiliar number appeared on my screen and I accidentally answered it. "Alessandra, speaking," I spoke. "Hey, bae." a very familiar voice answered on the other line.
Bae was so 9 years ago. And there was only one person who called me that. He was 8 years younger when I met him. I was working as sales manager that time and he was an intern at a law firm. The first time I met him, he was really sweaty. I had him waiting for 30 minutes. Oh, I was really far from the city and I had to take the train. But his elegance, his smile and his beautiful face just made me regret being so late. I knew he was pissed off, but he started talking like he was not. He was talking about his Chinese class that he went for the first time. That was the first time I heard his voice.
I was wondering a few weeks ago on when would I hear his voice again. I missed his face. I missed his voice, his smile, his naughty stares and him. And now, he suddenly called. "Danny?" I asked. It was a very hot and humid day. I was trying to cross the street from my one laundry shop to another. The 10-year old machine stopped working. I knew I should have called the manufacturer. "Yes. How are you bae?" he asked. "Oh, I am not expecting your call. Are you okay?" I replied. But that time, I was almost going to faint. Damn, it has been ages since he left Taipei. And from there, we stopped talking. His family did not want him to have an Asian girlfriend, especially an older one. Of course. "Yes, I am, indeed. Thank you," he added. "So what's going on?" I hesitantly replied. "I am getting married," he replied softly.
When I heard his last few words, my world just abruptly stopped. Literally. And too late I realized that I was in the middle of the street. When everything was audible and visible again, I heard a white car honking loudly, approaching to where I was standing. "Damn it!", my last words. (To be continued...)

10 years from now... As my wrinkles on my forehead seem to be more visible, my anxiety is more apparent. He said it's been 10 years since we last spoke. I could not remember. I am 38 now and I am more conscious about how I look. He is in town he said.
After the tragedy a year ago, I am becoming more oblivious. There are some parts of my life that I have forgotten. My best friend told me that I used to be great at recognizing faces and voices. But now, it seems like everyone around me is a bunch of strangers. "Hello." That voice. It sounds so familiar. I am waiting at a corner of a cafe. My thoughts are outside, trying to remember that very familiar voice. I look behind me and I see this very beautiful face.Or maybe both. "How are you?" He asked. (To be continued)

1 year ago before the actual story.... I was aware to what's happening around me. I saw my best friend Leslie just left the room. Alizea, my god daughter looked at me sadly before they closed the door. She waived her hand and said goodbye. At that moment, I could not recall what happened. "Are you there?" a stranger asked. I didn't know who this guy was, but he was sitting beside my bed. I rolled my eyes, I was looking around, confused. "Where am I?", I asked. But he did not seem to hear me. "Who are you?" i asked loudly. There was no reaction. I tried to raise my hand. It seemed heavy. I never experienced like this before. It was like, I was lifting the heaviest dumbbell at the gym.

I could not hear any thing but but waves of the ocean pushing me away from the beautiful island that I searched thousands of miles away.

Oh wait... (8 years ago, from this tragedy) "Bae, you need to lift heavy. It's not like you are going to be the incredible hulk when you lift. Trust me, it will help you become more toned." Danny insisted. "Bae, but it's too heavy. I don't know how could I lift alone when you leave for Taipei." I replied. Danny will leave for Taipei in one month's time. He will continue his research there and study mandarin for 6 months. "Bae, I know it seems hard right now. But when you channel that emotion, you would be able to move your arms and lift these dumbbells." He insisted. It was like I wanted to shout and just let all my worries, frustrations and madness out, that in a quick second, I was able to lift those 12kg dumbbells. "See what you've done just now bae? You can do everything in this world when you believe you can.", he added. He seemed proud.
