Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a blue day at Color my World Daily and at the fabulous Looking close on Friday the theme is Wise Words.
I dont know for you, but being very clumsy during my childhood, wearing glasses and being a lefty (it appears that left handed people running freely while holding sharp objects make other people nervous lol) I heard a gazillion times the words of wisdom : don’t run with scissors !
I know, I was clumsy but I always loved arts and crafts so I had scissors in my hands pretty often. I still can hear those words coming from my Mom’s mouth , except that today I’m the Mom… and between you and me; my oldest son is as clumsy as his mom ;-). Seeing him, browsing around with scissors in his hand makes my nervous….
Have a beautiful day and see you later my friends !! And remember, whatever you do: DO NOT RUN WITH SCISSORS !!!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
Pablo Picasso
Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time."
Thomas Merton
If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.
Edward Hopper
Creativity takes courage.
Henri Matisse
In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it.
Ernst Fischer
I have no fear of making changes, destroying the image, etc., because the painting has a life of its own.
Jackson Pollock
I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for.

Meet Hanna
I met Hanna strolling with her friend Ned on the streets of Bethesda a few days ago - I knew she instantly would make a great stranger portrait - her beautiful eyes and a lovely warm smiling personality were definitely wonderful to work with. However, when I first made my request she seemed uncertain - happy to be requested but not sure if she would make good pictures and that she was kind of camera shy. I assured her that she would definitely look great and for whatever reason if she didn't like what she saw we would delete the pics and walk away.
With that reassurance in place, we walked around a few minutes chatting to know a little about her while finding a good spot to do the pictures. Hanna is a landscape designer - she loves working with a creative mindset which is why this line of work appealed to her. Besides her work, she loved arts including sketching. Her favorite quality of herself - she was a little hesitant to say as she thought it would sound pompous but after a little cajoling, she mentioned her positive attitude - which actually did reflect in her personality if I may add. When I asked Ned about the same - he had a lot of things of what he loved about her but the most important thing I took away is that she was pure of heart - a wonderful quality to be appreciated for I'd say.
With the pictures - within a couple of clicks Hanna settled into a groove - and the hesitancy was gone as she easily followed instructions. More importantly - it appeared that she was actually enjoying the random session. Even though it may have been her kindness or just being generous she happily said that some of these were the best pictures clicked of her. Well, either way - music to my ears!!
Thank you Hanna for your time and trust - was wonderful doing these pictures. Special thanks to Ned for the support as well as the patience - and you look great together, All the very best in all that you do a- was indeed great making your acquaintance. If you do stop by and like your pictures - feel free to contact me id you would like a hi-res copy of your pictures.

Meet James.
Well there are strangers and then there are Strangers - and Mr. James definitely is the latter. I feel lucky to have met this terrific gentleman yesterday. I was in DC last afternoon, and I decided to carry my camera - something i do regularly nowadays just in case someone stands out as a opportunity. And I am super pleased that I did and ended up crossing paths with James.
It really does not take a great eye or rocket science to figure out that James would undoubtedly make a great picture. I saw him from a distance crossing at the light and I knew I had a superb person to photograph (hoping that he agrees). As soon as he was within walking distance I approached the man - I will admit he had a strong intimidating presence about him, and he agreed after a few basic questions (but only if it was quick).
There was something really like able about his personality - almost like he had walked out of a movie. The perfectly coordinated dressing with that coat, the hat, the corduroy jeans and that cigar - and an undeniable awesome presence
James was very kind even though I extended my few minutes - switching to various angles and looks - cigar in hand, smoking cigar looking sideways etc. - and looking super cool and confident. Looking at him posing even got attention of few passer bys - one in a car clicked his pic too and another lady stopped me later and asked me what I was doing and that she loved arts and agreed that he indeed was a interesting personality.
Mr. James is from Virginia but was in DC for a meeting. He mentioned that he was a diplomat in the past and is currently in International trade. On asked what he likes - he mentioned with a smile "eat, drink and being merry .. and women". Nothing much wrong with that, right?
When he saw his pics in the camera, he was pretty pleased with the result and requested me to email them (with his card). I surely will Mr. James - hope you like these.
it was great meeting you by chance - you really are a striking personality. All the very best in your life.

August 19, 2022 is the World Photography Day. I made this short video which is only 26 seconds long but includes 100 photos I took since I came to Newfoundland. My greetings to all the photographers worldwide and those who love arts and constantly display human beings' exquisite aesthetics and magnificent creativities.
The background music is Chopin's Etude Op. 25 No. 11, Winter Wind. It is one of my favorite music.

Nothing will make two peoples differences come to the surface faster than marriage. One difference that shines heavily in our marriage, and affects us especially in the fall, is the art show.
My bride loves arts and crafts…any and all. We agree on the art side with the exception of jewelry, holiday ornaments, anything knitted/crocheted/sewn or woven…oh yea…and this is a big one…anything that smells, especially candles and home made soaps. The last thing I want to smell on a beautiful fall day is someone’s rendition of butterscotch, especially when they totally missed the mark. When they make a natural forest (not heavy pine) or even a barn-smelling candle or soap, then maybe we can talk!
I am also very particular about crowds as well, she is not. The crowd size could never be too small, but can certainly be too large. Enjoyment is never achieved when I am shoulder to shoulder with strangers who are mob herding me toward the fake butterscotch booth. In an attempt to keep me from rolling my eyes back in my head and totally detaching into an out of body experience, Joann will sometimes go out of her way to point out the photography booths. Funny thing is that it is in the same tone and manner that she once used to distract the kids when they were toddlers before loading up a spoonful of vegetables and ramming it home! We both enjoy the nature photography booths especially when creative elements are included such as layering; textures and creative framing are applied.
I am often surprised at the high prices especially when the main object is slightly out of focus or pixelated. Being a talker myself, I always try to engage the artist (if not with a possible customer) to complement and ask him/her about the back-story of the shot. I assume they are like me and the where, when and how is equally important as the capture. Often it is not. Several over the years have turned a deaf ear the moment that I share my love for wildlife photography. They were only interested in business yet had an attitude that would provide for poor sales.
Some 5-7 years ago we were at one of the larger art shows where I spent most of the day people watching and moving from one shady spot to the next. Noticing a booth with a large owl shot out front, I wove through the crowd like a ninja between deadly laser beams, sometimes high, sometimes low and often sideways. Finally…something for me to look at! Once inside, I was surrounded by some of the greatest shots I had seen in some time, with a white haired gentleman standing in the corner. Within minutes, and around question number 23, I knew I had found a kindred spirit. For this artist, it was about the adventure and not just the product. I asked about camera settings, time of day, research methods…talking to someone that shared my passion was so refreshing!
A short time later (She may have been there longer) I noticed my bride by my side. Introductions were made and the man looked at Joann and said, “He’s got it bad!” to which she laughed out loud and said, “Oh…I know!” It was then that he shared something totally unexpected, stating; “You have a good guy here, at some point he is going to want to upgrade his camera and lenses, and you need to support that!” You could have pushed me over with a feather when Joann smiled and agreed. At the time I had a canon T3i and an 80-300mm lens, internally I laughed as I thought I had all the camera and lenses I would ever need…he understood the addiction much better than I.
While departing we shook hands and I asked one final question. It may have been a silly question to a pro, but having never taken a class in photography requires one to seek information from any possible source. I said, “What does it take to make a good photo great?” He smiled and shared “Most concentrate on the subject only, never moving their feet to better the background. When the subject and the background is great, then you have a great capture!”
I learned more in that twenty-minute exchange than I had in the previous 20 years of nature photography. Most importantly, that being addicted to something that gets you out and off the couch is ok and normal. And yes, that Joann was fine with me upgrading my equipment was a plus as well as I have reminded her of this conversation many times! I wish I had grabbed his card, as my problem with name retention grows daily. I would like to thank him again for his patience, kindness, wisdom and understanding of the internal me. Since that day when someone writes or asks questions about the where, when and how of any of my shots, I attempt to emulate him by spreading the grace that was granted me on a beautiful fall day…in an uncomfortable crowd…in air filled with the smell of bad butterscotch.
Oh yea, here is a shot of a squirrel seemingly hiding its snack from me, as if I had asked for some. I love the background more that the subject.
Taken yesterday at Patoka Lake state Park, Indiana.
This is a form of street art I've only even seen before on bridges. Whilst we were there I saw people attaching new locks so it is still a way to show love for whoever you are with.
This week's challenge in Project SoulPancake is called Art at Arm's Reach. It goes a little something like this:
STEP ONE
Scavenge around your desk, barstool, couch cushions for anything handy. And we mean anything: paper clips, poker chips, fake eyelashes, junk mail, bullet casings.
STEP TWO
CREATE ART.
STEP THREE
Bask in your artistic brilliance.
Repeat as desired.
I can't even begin to tell you how therapeutic this was. As a kid, I always loved arts and crafts. In fact, there is still, to this day, a craft box in my parents' basement that's filled with all sorts of random odds and ends. Toilet paper rolls, toothpicks, cotton balls, q-tips, acorns, popsicle sticks, string, empty bandaid tins, glitter, glue, stickers...anything and everything my mom thought I could possibly want to use. And on rainy days or really any day where I was bored and looking for something to do, my mom would pull out the craft box and I'd make something. I'd forgotten how much fun it is. To just completely focus your attention and energy onto creating.
And really, I guess that's what my photography is to me these days. That tiny slice of my day devoted to nothing but me and whatever I can dream up and create. I think that's why I love it so much. It's my time to get away from whatever else is bothering me and channel my energy into something that is purely mine.
But after this little challenge, I think I may be putting aside some time to do crafts again too. Now I understand why Joel is getting so much out of his Made Project.
Special thanks to Shannon who gave me this tin of monkey mints. And to my favorite wine (Good Harbor Fishtown White) for providing me with the cork. :)
Project SoulPancake - Week Two: Art at Arm's Reach

E X P L O R E D #85
My Favourite Albums of the Year 2015
From California to the Faeroes Islands, Germany to Kentucky, right back to here in Vancouver, these are my favourite albums of the year.
Cayucas – Dancing at the Blue Lagoon (Secretly Canadian)
A rare California entry on my year-end list. Their sunny brand of quirky indie rock struck me in just the right way. Released to almost zero acclaim, this might be my pick-me-up album of the year.
Leon Bridges – Coming Home (Columbia)
Rarely does a debut album hit me as hard as this one did. Borrows heavily from the 50’s and 60’s American soul catalogue in lyrics and form, but hey, who cares when you have a voice as smooth as his.
Sufjan Stevens – Carrie and Lowell (Asthmatic Kitty)
Lauded seventh studio release from the now Brooklyn-based musician is one of his best. References his childhood memories of a mostly-absent mother and a mostly-present stepfather. Touching, solid, memorable.
Valley Maker – When I Was a Child (Brick Lane Records)
Seattle heart-wrenchers mix male-female harmonies, sparse guitar lines and poetic lyrics for an entrancing release.
Beirut – No No No (Pompeii Records)
Critically panned but, in my humble opinion, still well worth a listen for its brilliant instrumentations and clever lyrics despite being an even bigger step towards the radio-and-streaming-friendly centre
Daniel Martin Moore – Golden Age (Sub Pop)
Kentucky singer-songwriter reminds me of the similarly beautiful and melancholy Jesse Marchant with a slight Americana twist
Hayden – Hey Love (Arts & Crafts)
Hayden is like a cousin to me, a brother, an old friend. When he gets it right, as he usually does, his albums speak to me in a way that few others could. He’s older, wiser, and more of a lyricist here than ever but much of his simple boy-next-door songs remain the same as they did when I first listened to him so many lifetimes ago.
Villagers – Darling Arithmetic (Domino Recording Co.)
Ireland’s Villagers were once nominated for Mercury Prize but are, as so often s the case, still more or less unknown on North American shores. Largely the baby of leadman Conor O’Brien and in part a coming-out record, it features simpler songs than past albums but now more deeply personal and affective as a result.
Peter Broderick – Colours of the Night (Bella Union)
Once a member of Horse Feathers and Efterklang, two of my all-time favourites, Portland’s Broderick now spends much of his time in Europe adding his talent to many an album as a recording and touring musician. He recorded this release in Switzerland borrowing talent and inspiration from his musical brethren.
Nils Frahm – Solo (Erased Tapes)
German modern pianist released this album of solo tracks for free in the spring but the delicate music is rich beyond words.
Marius Ziska – Home (Stargazer Records)
Proof that there is great music everywhere, Ziska is a singer songwriter from the Faeroes Islands with great melodies and soaring vocals that remind me of, dare I say it, a young Chris Martin.
Honourable Mention:
Fort Frances – No One Needs to Know Our Name; Father John Misty – I Love You, Honeybear; Colin Stetson & Sara Neufeld – Never Were the Way She Was; Patrick Watson – Love Songs for Robots; Other Lives - Rituals; Simen Mitlid – While We Wait

My wife is a member of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Obviously, she loves arts and fashion. Last week, a new exhibit regarding the most iconic collections of 20th- and 21st-century women’s fashion was open to the public. We went to check it out over the weekend. Of course, I intended to do some street photography there given the opportunity.
As I was loitering around the exhibhit and this dress with imprints of Mao Zedong 's portrait caught by eyes. At first, I thought it was a Warhol 's creation. But when I looked closer at the description below, it said the make of this dress was a collaboration between Zhang Hongtu and Vivienne Tam, the latter being well known in the New York fashion industry.
For this photo, I decided to open up the aperture to F2 just enought to get the old lady on the left somewhat near focus to capture her expression of curiosity. My focus point was at one of the Mao 's head.

CRAFT REVOLUTION / MOSAIC APPLICATION IN A PATCHWORK APPROACH, A TRULLY NEW LINE IN A ROW
Doing things like no other before is like walking in another line, why we need to do being different from them, how do we see things in another side? Is this possible to have a new line in a row?
I attend seminars about Quality Control, this seminars tackles the main cause of the real problem is in the organization itself, yes, and is true no need to attend seminar for this, if we know ourselves is our best enemy, but how we need to know more ourselves, our environment dictates us to be being with them, and our mind action accordingly in this way of thinking.
Working in an Export Company for long years as a research and product development officer is not a good job, but paying you a lot sometimes per project, and your Boss saying you always; “our sale will get high after this project out of the market! You can go to vacation after this! Yes vacation after finish the particular project, hmm sound nice, as I said this is not a good job after all. Vacation is also not good in this kind of works. Why I say this. How you can say you are free after your kids out in school and you are watching American idol and praying for the artist you want to be declared as a real winner,
How can we say we are free and in vacation with family and thinking what you can do to be more careful for the kids if all with you, or even if you alone and feel bored and open your pc for something else just to get out of your mind, how?
Being free is acceptance just live with them walk with them and feel with them, my master in this seminar put this thing in our mind , the second things he share to us is everybody need a free space for our self, as a person and different from the other person.
He share to us a line in a bible , I forgot the pages and the verses, but something like this I am not particular in the bible things and thoughts but the messages is clear, you are so special from the other person in your words ,in your thought , in your actions too,
And he shouting to all of us saying hey get out of the box his face look like red and I feel he is angry for what ever reason,
Then he put here things in the bag and walking outside the hall never turn back and go to small coffee table and put some head set on his ear, we all get shock we feel confuse, me I am thinking he get mad to someone , that time the seminar is running up to more hours and this person sitting , look like relax and we are thinking what s wrong , the company paying much for him, and the 2 long hours to wait him , feel more confusing , I see also he snap a bit and his eyes is close for almost 15 minute , and we are so silent , and no body want to talk , hey what’s wrong , I go to the other side of the room and I fall asleep, somebody doing that things and fall asleep too, but the only thing I notice no one get out of the room , we are all waiting for something, boring and everybody no one to talk just the eyes talking that time and our lips add some smile,
Time running and one of the participant decide to talk to all of us and saying we don’t need him in this kind of seminar , he never say anything to us just sip his coffee for long hours and we left nothing to do. and one of my colleagues saying , how can we say it in a nice way, everybody saying something ,suggesting , and one off the participant crumble the papers and want to throw to the master , that moment we are all smile and saying yes do it if you can! But after that no one, want to do that kind of things to his master after all,
Or maybe being polite much better that throwing things as our action for that particular situation and the message is clear , everybody even they have a good actions they don’t want to go out of the box,
New line in a row is a fresh and clear action ,as an artist , as a creator of this particular crafts , I love to share what I have after my long journey , this world is so fast in many particular , technology ,development, high-rise building new phone , everything that we can consider as our home outside our home or a chips on our big pockets , weight less but full of everything what we put inside that chips for our own purposes,
This new craft was born in this particular world of arts but I found out, this craft is out of the line , the material is there , the colors is in there, the meaning is there , the message is there , everything is there , and still I cannot fine the right line for this particular crafts,
I start doing craft on my early age, I still remembering cutting pages of full colored magazine cut in a small piece and paste it, collect all the colored papers and cut and paste it just my start, I love to draw plant animals flowers birds everything about nature, and this track considering of my actions whom I am now, in my own world,
I never finish college, as my root, but I take a fine arts courses in one best school in Philippines (U.S.T. University Of Santo Tomas) Manila the oldest School in Asia the school for Architecture and Fine Arts, that time I feel bless, it because I never dream to get enter in that school, I walk barefooted in my young age, I never dream one day I was in one of the room in there. In my teenage days I was always in a church I am a member of a choir group, but my voice is not good at that time, but I feel important when I am part of this group , our master telling me you are part of this group and your voice is to important to us, I joint also a theater club my master told me , here in our company money is hard to find and the only things I can share to you is how they praise you after the production is done, this group is a community base just for a public information and services, and that’s true I feel different from other person when I joint in this group I have many friends , they all like me as a devil in my characters I always portray , this group give ME more opportunity to explore my space more on the way I never do and think before, or maybe I get out of that box I never notice in this way, or I walk in a new line in a row ,
This group also sent me to college, and I walk out in this group and stop my study up to 2nd years in colleges of course the main reason is money, yes this is my hard times at that moment I need to decide which way I need to walk, to finish or make another way like a new line in a row, I need to force my self to work hard for my daily bread.
New line in a row is a formation of things on how we see and need to act patiently specially in our materials that surround us. Or a CALL on how we make a line in a way we can move perfectly, and this is what I want to share to you,
New line in a row is my greatest achievement, after searching and looking for arts and crafts, i look more books, searching more artist, looking for the master, site in the internet, regarding arts and crafts, and still I never see anything that need to compare on my crafts, but this crafts more on mosaic, patchwork, color pixel in our computer and idea coming from cross stitching, and how it make it different from them,?
Mosaic is a form of arts more on glass and stone or anything that form pattern and pastes it,
Patchwork is a form of arts too start from our old clothes recycled it and form pattern too.
Cross stitching is also form of arts that need to count and have pattern too.
Color pixel normally found in our computer if we want to see or using magnifying glass to see thing clear.
I never research much on this particular meaning (mosaic, patchwork, cross stitching, pixels,) suggestion is always welcome or comment to this particular is will help much,
This kind of words build my composition and remind me, where I start thinking and looking in different way, how can I called my crafts , or where can I place it , I thinking is there a room for me, the answer is YES , I can place it in a galleries of mosaic,
In a patchwork, in pixel room, but not in a wall that hangs cross stitching arts,
But more on more that way, my experiment get more wild and run, colored pixel is always many colors in his single square form, I decide to get out in this category,
I try more research about patchwork , and I see more clear things in this room , the next things I open my mind to the mosaic room and get involved more on more , and I notice a clear picture and help me to categories my craft more in this way.
I draw another line, a new line in a row
After fifteen years searching for the soul of my arts, I try to make room for them, I want to be different from them, I want to be more careful and I want to have a free form from them,
Arts is copying nature I thought, and maybe I think in this way, but copying is like doing things you admire and seeing things that guide us, copying is the only easy way to make us more competitive or maybe more to be exact, new line in a row starting in this way collect the things that have a connection on me make a clear picture and transform in a way I do now,
New line in a row is a form of arts with the relationship to the crafts world,
Arts is different from the crafts, arts is unique form and creation of human no same things have in common with out copying using special tools we have..
Crafts are more on copying have pattern to create more precise and get to perfectly conclusion.
New line in a row is my first step to get out of the box, I never notice for long way before.
New line in a row is a form of CRAFTS after all!
I called this crafts MOSAIC CLOTH IN A PATCHWORK APPROACH
A truly NEW LINE IN A RAW
Only the dead man can make his canvass clear and white
I choice freedom that make my life to be complicated and open for more restriction after all

PINK CAPITAL / MARIKINA CITY, PHILLIPINES
Mona is a little bit different. After all her miserable love affairs, she found Lipschitz, a painter.
I see Mona as a very sensible woman, she love arts, and after all Lipschitz found many other woman and Mona found herself. Without him. He wont put his brush in foreign paint buckets anymore.
This evening I realized that - I never took time to walk around the beautiful lake, slowly, observing every little thing that embodies.
So I did - walked around while noticing little things from seasonal flowers to the spring sky getting more and more hues after the sunset.
It's not the most well-known city in the US, but it's certainly a comfortable place for me now, at this point of the life.

... ... the background of this love letter was stamped with Hero Arts La Letter K5344. A piece of twine ties the small floral heart to the aqua coloured embossed paper securing the two parts of the card together. The embossed page of the card actually opens up, as well, giving three pages for letter writing (the first page being only 3/4 of the size). The beautiful floral heart and embossed paper are both from Franziska :)
Thanks so much for looking. Enjoy your day.
