Στο γεφύρι της Πορτίτσας...!!!
Σπήλαιο - Γρεβενά.
Ονομάστηκε έτσι γιατί βρίσκεται στην είσοδο ενός επιβλητικού Φαραγγιού....Ανάμεσα στα βουνά Σπηλαίου και Λυκότρυπας δημιουργείται η κοιλάδα Κανάβη. Η ευχάριστη αγκαλιά της κοιλάδας με τα νερά του ορεινού ρέματος να κυλούν νωχελικά ανάμεσα σε κροκάλες και πλατάνια, ημερεύει τη σκληρότητα της ορεινής γης.
Η κοιλάδα καταλήγει σε βαθύ φαράγγι, που ονομάζεται Πορτίτσα, ενώ η έξοδος του ονομάζεται Καρούτες. Την εικόνα έρχεται να συμπληρώσει στο βάθος το βράχινο φράγμα που σχηματίζουν σαν συμπληγάδες οι δυο αντικριστοί κάθετοι βράχοι το οποίο εμποδίζει αποφασιστικά το άπλωμα του μικρού οροπεδίου. Μπροστά από το στενόμακρο στόμιο του φαραγγιού που χάσκει σαν πόρτα που ξεχάστηκε ανοικτή, το πέτρινο γεφύρι της Πορτίτσας δρασκελίζει το ποτάμι δίνοντας διέξοδο στην επικοινωνία των ντόπιων ανάμεσα στο Σπήλαιο και το Μοναχίτι.Ο ποταμός που περνά κάτω από την κάμαρα του γεφυριού είναι ο Βενέτικος ποταμός, παραπόταμος του Αλιάκμονα, ο οποίος είναι ο μεγαλύτερος σε μήκος Ελληνικός ποταμός (μήκος 297 χιλιόμετρα).Η κατασκευή της γέφυρας υπολογίζεται το 1743 και σύμφωνα με πηγές χτίστηκε με προσφορές από το Μοναστήρι του Σπηλαίου. Είναι δίτοξο με το άνοιγμα του μεγάλου τόξου να φτάνει στα 13,80μ και του μικρού τα 5μ. Το συνολικό του μήκος είναι 34 μ. και το πλάτος του 2,70 μ. , το δε συνολικό του ύψος του φτάνει τα 7,80 μ.
.....Μείναμε εκεί μέχρι το ηλιοβασίλεμα....Ένα ηλιοβασίλεμα διαφορετικό , μαγευτικό, σε έναν ονειρεμένο τόπο...ευλογημένο....!!!! διασχίσαμε το φαραγγι , μέσα στα παγωμένα , πεντακάθαρα νερά....Οι μεγάλοι όγκοι του φαραγγιού από πάνω μας , αντανακλούσαν τους κρυσταλλενιους ήχους από το ποτάμι.....Απλά μαγικό......!!!!! Προσπάθησα να καταγράψω όλα αυτά μέσα σε μια φωτογραφία....Αδύνατον.........!!!!Φύγαμε γεμάτοι οξυγόνο από τα νερά του ποταμού και το μπάνιο στο ποτάμι , με την υπόσχεση να ξαναπάμε εκεί , πολύ σύντομα....!!!!! :)
Stayed there until sunset .... A sunset different, magical , a dream place ... blessed ....! ! cross the gorge , through the icy clear waters .... The bulk of the canyon above us , reflected the crystalline sounds of the river ..... just magical ...... ! ! I tried to capture all of them inside a photo .... it's very little but ...... We left full of oxygen from the waters of the river and swimming in the river , promising to be back there very soon .... ! ! :)
Argasi Bridge - Zakynthos Island.
Το πέτρινο γεφύρι στο Αργάσι της Ζακύνθου. (1805)
Argassi Bridge is built at the outfall of a river and is today ruined, located 10 metres from the seashore, in the small harbour of Argassi. Almost half of the bridge, which used to be part of the main road, is now resting on the shore and the other half is immersed in the sea. This is due to severe erosion from the seawater and the winds. The bridge was originally constructed in 1805 and consists of three arches.
Παλιό ενετικό γεφύρι που δεσπόζει στο νότιο άκρο της παραλίας του Αργασίου. Ήταν χτισμένο στις εκβολές του χειμάρου "ποτάμι της καμάρας" και σήμερα βρίσκεται μέσα στη θάλασσα. Εξυπηρετούσε παραλιακό δρόμο ο οποίος ξεκινούσε από τον Άγιο Σπυρίδωνα στις Γούρνες και κατέληγε λίγο πριν απο τον Νταβία κάτω απο το "κομμένο βουνό".

We still haven't ventured very far from home due to pandemic restriction but it's slowly loosening up. Consequently, this image is from 2018. It could easily be an entry for "Sliders Sunday," but really was that colorful and kept getting better as the evening progressed.

The Wreck Of The Demetrios II.
The wreck is the Demetrios II, a cargo ship built in 1964 by J J Sietas KG at their shipbuilding yard in Hamburg-Neuenfelder, Germany.
The ship is60 metres in length and weighing more than 900 tonnes.
The Honduran-flagged M/V Demetrios II ran aground off Paphos Lighthouse on 23 March 1998 in heavy seas during a voyage from Greece to Syria with a cargo of timber.
The crew were rescued and airlifted to the safety of Paphos by a British Military Helicopter.
The wreck remains on the rocks today, gradually rusting away. The story goes it’d cost more to salvage it than it’s worth, so it’s likely to stay there for a long time to come.
The ship meanwhile, was left stranded on the rocks, and has become a tourist attraction and local landmark.

Chlemoutsi Castle and its History..,
Το Χλεμούτσι βρίσκεται στο χωριό Κάστρο του Δήμου Κυλλήνης, στο δυτικότερο ακρωτήριο της Πελοποννήσου. Καθώς είναι χτισμένο στην κορυφή ενός λόφου, δεσπόζει στην πεδιάδα της Ηλείας.
...."Όταν μπήκα από την στενή ορθάνοιχτη καστρόπορτα και διάβηκα στις γοτθικές ρημαγμένες αίθουσες και τις χoρταριασμένες αυλές..και πιάστηκα από μια αγροσυκιά για να ανέβω στο επάνω πάτωμα και στάθηκα σε μια πέτρα , μου ΄ρθε να σύρω στριγγιά φωνή σα γεράκι......
......Ξαφνική χαρά με κυρίεψε σαν να πήρε μέσα στο νου μου γοργοράτο ρυθμό ο καιρός....και σε μια αστραπή , ήρθαν οι Φράγκοι στην Πελοπόννησο , την κούρσεψαν, την γέμισαν ξανθόμαλλα παιδιά και άγρια κάστρα.....Κι Αφανίστηκαν....!!!!!!!!!
Σε κάθε βήμα μου απειλητικά κοράκια σηκώνουνταν , σκέπαζαν μια στιγμή τον 'ηλιο, έσεραν φωνές και ξανάπεφταν στην άλλη μεριά του κάστρου....Στάθηκα σε ένα γοτθικό παραθύρι και κοίταζα τον κάμπο της Γλαρέντζας να απλώνεται όλο γαλήνη και γονιμότητα και γύρα του τη θάλασσα να αχνίζει . και πέρα έλαμπαν τα "θεία νησιά¨Η ΖΑΚΥΝΘΟΣ , Η ΚΕΦΑΛΟΝΙΑ και αχνά σαν όραμα από γαλάζιο φως η ΙθΑΚΗ....""

Πρέπει να είμαι απόγονος των ιπποτών εκείνων γιατί μου γέννησε την γλυκειά εκεινη νοσταλγία που ένιωσα όταν κάποτε είδα στην Αχαία , ένα καστέλι Φράγκικο, σιωπηλό και μόνο να υψώνει τις επάλξεις του προκλητικά στο χρόνο.....!!!!!

The Legend of the beautiful and the ugly fairy......!!!
Once upon a time there were two fairies.one living at Chlemoutsi and the other at Santameri.The fairy at Chlemoutsi was beautiful but unable to have children, whereas the fairy at Santameri was ugly but have five sons and one exquisitely beautiful doughter.In response to the pleas of the beautiful fairy, her sister , the beautiful ugly , gave her, the doughter , on the promise that she could visit the girl at Chlemoutsi.The fairy of Chlemoutsi broke the promise and banned her sister from seeing her child.
Such was the ugly fairy's lamentation and rage that ever since , when the winds are howling and wind is wild , legend has it that this is the mother's wailing at the loss of her child.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Legend of the Sunless King.....(Ο Θρύλος του ανήλιαγου Βασιλιά)
........Ήταν κάποτε ένα βασιλόπουλο που κατοικούσε στην Παλιόπολη(αρχαία Ήλιδα) και είχε αγαπήσει την βασιλοπούλα που κατοικουσε στο Χλεμούτσι.Το βασιλόπουλο το ονόμαζαν Ανήλιαγο γιατί αν ποτέ το έβλεπε ο ήλιος και το φως της μέρας, ήταν η μοίρα του να μαρμαρωθεί.....Το ίδιο και η βασιλοπούλα γι αυτό την έλεγαν Ανήλιαγη.Προκειμένου το βασιλόπουλο να ανταμώνει την Πριγκίπισσα , οι δυο νέοι έφτιαξαν μια υπόγεια στοά από την Παλαιόπολη ως το Χλεμούτσι. Δυστυχώς όμως μια μέρα το Βασιλόπουλο βρέθηκε έξω από τη στοά , τον αντίκρισε το φως της μέρας και μαρμαρώθηκε...........!!!!!!!!
Το κάστρο ιδρύθηκε το 1220-1223 από τον ηγεμόνα Γοδεφρείδο Α΄ Βιλλεαρδουίνο και αποτέλεσε το ισχυρότερο φρούριο του φράγκικου πριγκηπάτου της Αχαΐας, που γνώρισε ιδιαίτερη ακμή κατά την εποχή των Βιλλεαρδουίνων. Για να μπορέσει να πραγματοποιήσει την κατασκευή του ο Γοδεφρείδος ήρθε σε σύγκρουση με τον καθολικό κλήρο της Αχαΐας και χρησιμοποίησε τις προσόδους για την οικοδόμησή του. Το νέο κάστρο ονομάστηκε από τους ιδρυτές του Clermont, στα ελληνικά κατά παραφθορά Χλεμούτσι, ενώ οι Ενετοί αργότερα το αποκαλούσας Castel Tornese επειδή θεωρήθηκε λανθασμένα πως εδώ βρισκόταν το φράγκικο νομισματοκοπείο των τορνεσίων.
Χτισμένο σε θέση στρατηγική, με εκτεταμένη θέα στον κάμπο της Ηλείας και στο Ιόνιο πέλαγος, προστάτευε την πρωτεύουσα του πριγκιπάτου Ανδραβίδα και το σημαντικό λιμάνι της Γλαρέντζας.
Το 1427 περιήλθε ειρηνικά στον Κωνσταντίνο Παλαιολόγο, μετά τον γάμο του με την κόρη του Τόκκου και αυτός το χρησιμοποίησε ως στρατιωτικό και διοικητικό του κέντρο. Το 1460 το κάστρο κατελήφθη από τους Τούρκους και το 1867 από τους Ενετούς, που το κράτησαν στην κατοχή τους ως το 1715, όταν ξαναπέρασε στα χέρια των Τούρκων. Φαίνεται όμως πως το Χλεμούτσιέχει αρχίσει να χάνει το σημαντικό του ρόλο στην άμυνα της περιοχής, ήδη από το τέλος της Φραγκοκρατίας. Το 1701 ο Grimani προτείνει την καταστροφή του. Η θέση του δεν εξυπηρετούσε τα συμφέροντα των Ενετών, που σχετίζονταν με τη θάλασσα, ενώ το ήδη παλιό κάστρο απαιτούσε εκτεταμένες εργασίες για την επισκευή και τον εκσυγχρονισμό του. Το Χλεμούτσι έμεινε στην κατοχή των Τούρκων μέχρι την Επανάσταση του 1821. Σημαντική καταστροφή υπέστη κατά τον βομβαρδισμό μέρους του το 1826 από τον Ιμπραήμ που κατέστρεψε ένα πύργο του εσωτερικού περιβόλου και το τείχος κοντά σε αυτόν, υποδηλώνοντας πως το κάστρο έπαιξε κάποιο ρόλο κατά την Ελληνική Επανάσταση.
Σήμερα το Χλεμούτσι εξακολουθεί να διατηρεί τον έντονο φράγκικο χαρακτήρα του. από τους μεταγενέστερους κατακτητές μόνο οι Τούρκοι φαίνεται να ενδιαφέρθηκαν για τον εκσυγχρονισμό του και έκαναν μικρής έκτασης εργασίες, κυρίως για την προσαρμογή στη χρήση των πυροβόλων όπλων. Έτσι το κάστρο παραμένει ένα από τα σημαντικότερο και πιο καλοδιατηρημένα φρούρια της Ελλάδας και αποτελεί εξαιρετικό δείγμα φρουριακής αρχιτεκτονικής της εποχής της Φραγκοκρατίας στην Πελοπόννησο.

Finally after almost three weeks of rain and cloudy skies along the east coast of North Carolina, the sun returned on Friday. It was like a miracle to see the sunshine again. And what a magnificent sunset we were gifted with - thank you, Mother Nature ! ! It was amazing to watch the reflected light and colors while watching the sun setting at Lake Crabtree.
