Worker-foraging bees collect nectar by sucking droplets with their proboscis (a straw like tongue). The nectar on its own provides immediate energy in the form of carbohydrate sugars. Worker bees jobs include housekeeping, feeding the queen, drones and larvae, collecting the pollen and nectar, and making the wax.
As humans, one thing that we can learn about life from honey bees is teamwork, as they are natural teamplayers. If one bee is suffering or falling behind, the others step up and do the work, making sure that collective productivity is never reduced.

So, the Buddha is sometimes depicted sitting on a Lotus flower, symbolizing the one who overcame the pain that prevails in the material world and became enlightened. Just like the Lotus flower which starts to grow in the dirty and muddy water but manages to surpass the water and produce a perfect flower.

It is also a posture in Yoga, which depending on its form will be related to infinite possibilities or creation.

This origami Buddha is meditating sitting in a lotus-flower.
I folded the Buddha and the lotus from a sheet of golden foil, 18x18 cm. Final height about 6cm.

The origami lotus is a traditional model.
This image was taken a few days ago. It was the first lotus in the pond for the season. The bloom from this one is long gone. I do hope to see many more before the season is through.

RHS Wisley - Jun 2019
These are more images from RHS Wisley in June 2019. It has a great selection of plants and shrubs inside the garden complete with Glass house, lake and long borders. There is a magnificent arrangement of colour and diversity. A garden well worth visiting particularly when there is a Flower Show on view.
