... or 'Cuckoo Pint'. Many other 'folk' names for this, especially when in flower. A lovely surprise on my walk in our local park this morning. I haven't done much to this, just edited a little in Picmonkey. I hope you like it as much as I do !

I won't tell you why it's called "Lords and Ladies". You'll have to look that up for yourselves. It's a bit 'descriptive' to say the least 😃 !

Thank you my friends for all your kind comments and just for looking.

Lords-and-Ladies or Arum maculatum. A perennial found in woodland and hedges. The fruits consist of bright red berries in a spike during the Autumn months.

Out on the Piece on Sunday morning (Lords Piece Common). Taken on a long lens (155mm) with a wide aperture (f5.6).

this is the view as seen from the Lords point.

one can see Irshal Gad, Prabhal Gad and Kalavantinicha Durg here.

this winter's offerings of spindle here, twisty there have mesmerized me to the point where i don't look forward to spring when the leaves will wreck everything. well, i take it back. it's just that 50 shades of grey maybe isn't so bad. ps i love the totally pedestrian plastic mailbox with the "up yours" entrance. (welcoming but prohibitive at the same time.)

Also known as “Cuckoo Pint”, Devils and Angels, Adam and Eve and Snakes Head

Warning these berries are poisonous to dogs!

Happy weekend everyone

More frosty goodness, this time on Lords Piece common near Fittleworth.

Ancient Promises of the Dark, Whispers of Death & Destruction. Will you embrace the evil inside? They've been waiting.........

A return to yesterday’s lake and on this occasion we see the happy couple.

Photographed while exploring with NJ. The Shop, Columbia Street, Chinatown, Vancouver. April 6, 2015.

This was my first photo to become really popular. This was my first explore, and my first big win. The idea it self originated from everyone from Goldie Hawn to Sindy Gonzalez. I was so proud of this, it made the camera page for the photo and was re blogged

quite a bit, but later became sick of it.

Popularity does that.

A fan of "heavy metal".

THE DUEL BY LORDS OF LIGHTNING (UK)

Fusing jaw-dropping science with spellbinding spectacle, the Lords of Lightning harness multi-million volt bolts of white-hot electricity in this explosive performance.

Performing shows across the world, the Lords of Lightning’s unique magnetism has drawn thousands of people to marvel at the seemingly impossible, controlling lightning in spectacular style — by shooting bolts from their bodies in a show crackling with visceral intensity.

Witness a titanic battle fought with searing shards of lightning in The Duel, an extraordinary union of fluid human movement and the volatile power of electricity unleashed.

Inspired by the work of Nikola Tesla, Lords of Lightning — The Duel is a collaboration between innovative scientist Carlos van Camp and UK’s award-winning Arcadia.*

Coast to coast. Last photo I took before dropping my 4 month old camera on the pavement. Totally fucked. The price has come down $2 since I bought it so it's only a $498 loss... It's friday and I'm tryin not to care

At Lords cricket ground for the Ashes Test between England and Australia.

I normally sit at the other end, in or near the Pavilion so it was fun to see this view for a change. And a nice indication of the famous "Lord's slope" if you look along the lines of the Pavilion.

The five-day match was a sell-out, but by 6:35pm, after a long day, some people had left the ground for Saturday evening events elsewhere.

There’s a large Aussie tour group in their yellow hats top right. And a couple holding plastic kangaroos to the left.

It was a feisty match.

They hang the man and flog the woman

Who steals the goose from off the common

But leaves the greater villain loose

Who steals the common from the goose

The law demands that we atone

When we take things we do not own

But leaves the lords and ladies fine

Who take things that are yours and mine.

Arum maculatum is a common plant in the woods and hedgerows of England.

YOUR CHALLENGE FOR TODAY! Imaginatively explain how it got it's name "LORDS AND LADIES". For inspiration you may want to visit WikiWhoKnowsEverything and look at the illustration of what the plant looks like in springtime. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arum_maculatum
