Basically my big project is to make it into a smaller project. Because I am the project and I am too big :-)

 

Yesterday I was at the hospital to have some x-rays and tests on my back (I broke my back some months ago and had surgery) (see here for more info).

They said it looked "fine" and I could begin to do some more "serious" training. Until now I´ve been training 3 times a week with my physiotherapist at home. But now I can begin cycling and swimming again.

 

I have waited for this for a long time and since my surgery I haven´t been moving around a lot. Due to lack of exercise and eating way to much "feeling sorry for myself"-candy and sweets, I have managed to gain 8 kg (thats 16 pounds?).

 

Therefor I´m now starting my lifestyle change today, eating healthier and exercising. You can be a part of it by cheering for me here on Flickr since this is the first shot of the Voetmann-loosing-weight-series ;-)

 

Every wednesday morning I will weigh myself and issue it here.

 

Todays weight: 123.5 kg (new record)

 

Some years ago I had a slipped disc (Spinal disc herniation) and a lot of trouble afterwards, but I managed to drop 21 kg a in spite of that. Now I have gained them again and some more...

This time my first goal is to loose 12 kg before christmas.

 

Be a sport and cheer for me here, it would really help me :-)

I was 89kg when I came on the boat, which is too much for me. After looking at my self in the mirror and hating what I saw I decided to do something about it.

 

After taking care of my diet and after being in the gym, six days a week, an hour at a time, for two moths, my weight dropped to 84.5kg. I lost allot of fat but I also gained some muscle mass so I am sure I lost more than 4.5kg of fat.

To further help my Uncle on his diet (and to make sure he doesn’t secretly eat away at my chocolate stash) I started make him stand on the scales every evening and note down his progress, if there is any.

 

After comparing the results with those of the previous evening, I usually have a little pep talk with my Uncle... I found that bringing Thwack along to this session is most motivating.

 

My Uncle usually starts sweating before he has even begun his nightly work out :-)

Summary: After 5 weeks I have lost 6.5 kg. One kg this week. Its not going as quickly as one could hope, but one kilogram a week is most satisfactory.

My goal which is 12 kg before christmas is halfway there, its going to be tough, so please cheer all you can - it really helps!

The public challenge works. Its given me motivation in the small hours at night, when Flickr just can´t cut it out for sugar rushes and I just need something I think, punch myself and then eat an apple ;oD

   

I´ll give myself a smiley for every kg I loose.

I often complain when I look at myself in the mirror that I don't see the difference. But side to side, I really can. I still can hardly believe it.

Essentially, I'm trying to make loosing weight a little less bland food, and this is a chicken and bean broth, followed by a bowl of fresh cherries. It was easy to make, and I have to say, incredibly delicious. Incidentally it's not the lens acting funny, it's all the steam coming off the broth!

5 months into a serious change in lifestyle, including exercise and sensible eating I'm down 40 pounds!

 

I can hardly believe it. Seriously... its hard to wrap my brain around it.

 

To celebrate my accomplishment, I joined the gym today. Its getting too cold here to walk a couple miles a day at 6am before hubby goes to work. So now I can step it up a bit.

Funny series, me showing off lost inches in old trousers that were donated the next day.

 

It is pleasing to see myself much lighter then what I was an year from now.

 

I lost 4 inches and roughly 25 lbs in the whole year.

 

Though still not upto the mark, I do have some extra two inches and roughly 10 lbs extra.
