Week 01

2018 Dogwood 52 Week Photography Challenge

The theme for the first week of the challenge was "New year. New beginnings. New you. Look ahead. Interpret as you wish."

I thought I'd do this 52 week challenge this year to help me focus beyond all the work I'm doing at the WHS. I'm going to post the work just to keep me honest :))

A U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet aircraft, assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 97, lands on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) in the Arabian Gulf, Jan. 5, 2019. The John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points. I conclude 2010 to have experienced failures and disappointments which commonly happened to all of us. I'm calm, strong and patient.

The new year brings hope. My deep love for life will bring out more happiness which will bury the disappointments of previous year; new and exciting opportunities are inevitable. Hello 2011!

I would like to thank all of you for your support. Your work keeps me inspired and happy. Thank you Anna and AnnaSparrow for your testimonials. :)

I will leave you with wise words that My Flickr friend, Cheryl C posted in her photo stream.

"Don't look back It's over. Some things couldn't get done. Send those thoughts beyond the blue horizon. To float into a new year. Time moves quickly.

Looking ahead, you have an entire clean space ahead of you. You can choose how to spend this next year. How will you treat yourself, more importantly how will you treat others. Do the right thing. Each year as I get older I know the value of time. I also understand that there are no re-do's so choose wisely.

Look beyond your horizon. There is so much waiting for you out there. Grab it."

52 Weeks Project

Whatever might happen. Sometimes it's good to have somebody to get you a reality check and telling you to just look ahead for new or modified horizons...the only thing you need to say is "Thank You".

Location: Duivendrechtsekade, Amsterdam (city limits are strange in this area) along the Weespertrekvaart. Ahead the skyscrappers of Omval and at the right the Weesperzijde.

Coordinates: 52°20'19" N 4°55'47" E

Reason: A clear and sunny morning in Amsterdam and wanted to make a selfportrait with the message 'note to self' without any explainations.

Weather: Sunny, clear and 7" C

Self-portrait technics: Camera on a Sirui carbon tripod with selftimer on 10 seconds.

Dogwood 2018 - Week 1 - Vision : Look Ahead

For 2018, I decided to stop the MacroMonday and start a new 52 challenge : Dogwood 2018 / dogwood.photography/52weekchallenge2018.html

For this first week, I wanted to convey the comfy feeling you get when drinking hot tea in the morning, still in pajamas, reflecting on what is to come.
