On a recent visit to Longstock Park Water Garden , Hampshire, England, I could not help but admire some of the lovely Camellias there.
Pippi Longstocking was my hero for a while, when we were both nine. Briefly wondered at the time whether it was ok to have a girl as a hero, decided it was.

Nein, dieses ist nicht das Haus von Pippi Langstrumpf. Es ist ein Teil des Innenhofs der "Grüne Zitadelle" in Magdeburg.
No, this is not Pippi Longstocking's house. It is a part of the inner courtyard of the "Green Citadel" in Magdeburg.

In the 1970s, a residential building in a prefabricated building followed on the fallow land (after the bombing in World War II).1995 Rolf Opitz had the idea to contact Hundertwasser for redesigning the prefabricated building in the Hundertwasser style, which the artist had already done with other buildings. Hundertwasser agreed, but a new building was built later because of the greater scope for design.

Longstock is a village and civil parish in Hampshire, England. It lies on the western bank of the River Test, to the north of Stockbridge and to the west of Leckford. The parish has a population of around 450. The parish church, St Mary's, was largely rebuilt in the 1880s.Wikipedia.
Firstly sorry for being behind on comments, been hectic at work and at home been trying to finish preparations/planning for my annual autumnal expedition north. I'll be gone about 3 weeks so won't be posting during that time as I don't have a laptop. I will try to comment when I can but I apologise now if some of your cracking photos are missed.
Longstock Eel Trap, Hampshire. England on a misty morning recently. I used the drone to get a different pov to those I've seen before.
An eel buck or eel basket is a type of fish trap that was prevalent in the River Thames in England up to the 20th century. It was used particularly to catch eels, which were a staple part of the London diet.
Eel bucks were baskets made of willow wood, and were often strung together in a fishing weir. Construction of such weirs was outlawed under the terms of Magna Carta:
"All fish-weirs shall be removed from the Thames, the Medway, and throughout the whole of England, except on the sea coast."
However the practice continued unabated, often with adverse effects on navigation.

Pippi Longstocking is, next to Sesame Street, The Muppet Show and Maya the Bee, one of my earliest childhood memories as far as television shows are concerned.
That's why I built a MOC for the current contest "Childhood Memories" on www.RogueBricks.de based on the stories, books and movies of the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren: The Villa Villekulla.
In addition, a Figbarf was created with some of the main characters: Pippi Longstocking herself, her two best friends Tommy and Annika Settergren, (buccaneer) Captain Efraim Longstocking, the two police inspectors Kling and Klang.
The two gangsters Blom and Dunder-Karlsson are hiding - of course ;)
During building I had to make some compromises concerning the colors and the size of the MOC. However, I think it's easy to see what it is. With the Figs I have placed some references to individual scenes. Maybe you'll discover some more of them?
Photography has been a bit quiet recently but today I braved a bitterly cold start to the day to capture the eel traps along the River Test in deepest Hampshire. This quaint little spot really lends itself to a frosty sunrise and I did get lucky with the frost and mist.
Longstock Park Nursery Walled Garden houses the National Collection of buddleias. A few examples here in my collage, including a variegated purple/white but I was unable to capture a shot of the rather unusual yellow variety.
At first there was a 'two's company scenario': two mating ladybirds hanging perilously vertically on the narrow edge of a picnic table. The sight of a small boy trying to cup them in his hands drew my attention to them.
I suggested I would take their photo and perhaps we should leave them alone. This apparently satisfied him, and also his even smaller brother who had come to see what was going on.
Some time afterwards, we passed by this same picnic table during our visit to the buddleias in the walled garden. I saw a third ladybird alight on the table and scurry along the top edge. I must have then had a moment's inattention because I suddenly realised it had joined the first two, making this threesome.
Not easy to tell, from this jumble of red with black spots, but these look rather like 5-spot ladybirds aka coccinella qinquepunctata, although Google tells me they are rare.
I showed my shot to my good friend, Gilly, who tells me she discovered that "ladybirds' mating lasts 2 hours during which time they are very vulnerable to passing hungry birds (plus innocent small boys and mad ladies with cameras)** and if you see some you should cover them up to prevent aerial attacks."
It's taken ages to render this photo suitable to post - thus for:
