… but the car park was much closer 😄

Yesterday we visited the farmers’ market, with family, at Hoghton Tower, we then enjoyed a pre-booked afternoon tea. A very nice day it was, except the weather didn’t cooperate.

Our afternoon tea was booked for 2.00pm, by 1.00pm it was raining and cold. My sister in law asked if we’d be able to have our afternoon tea earlier than booked. They were very cooperative, and our large circular table for 8 people was already reserved.

The afternoon tea was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We made a couple of purchases at the market too… two beautiful Norwegian blankets. Mine has a design with stags on it, and Tracey’s has horses. Tracey also bought some honey.

When we came out of the afternoon tea all the stalls at the market had packed up and left.

This may be a very common bird to many but not to us British Columbians. It is the first official record for the province, as it has already been accepted by the BC Bird Records Committee.

Alberta has quite a few records, including breeding records and Cranbrook isn't too far away from the Alberta border.

I never thought I would drive 10hrs each way to see a Northern Cardinal because I have seen so many but of course I had to! LOL

I drove those long hours through many snowy mountain passes to see this bird in Cranbrook. I would do it again in a heartbeat because along the way there were many cool birds to see: Black-backed Woodpeckers, Chukar, Bohemian Waxwings, Rough-legged Hawks, Blue Jays, Common Redpolls, Pine Grosbeaks and Wild Turkeys, just to name a few. The snowy landscape was a gorgeous winter wonderland and it was nice to get away from the city. I have driven this road often in winter coming back from the Prairies and this is probably the best shape I have seen it in. Although Kootenay Pass was true to her mixed bag (fog, snow, black ice, blinding snow) that she's famous for. A couple days ago she was closed for 4 hours, so I was lucky it was just typical winter driving through our highest mountain pass. Last May I drove through it to go to Creston and it was snowing then. You just never know what you will get when you cross it.

If you think I am crazy for driving this far for a bird, my friend who is a winter lister has already driven to see it twice and will do so for each month until it departs. This means if it stays until April, he will spend 120 hours on the road just to see this bird.

Yep some Birders (including myself) are nuts :).

This bird was found by two lovely people, Greg Ross and Katrin Powell who could not have been more accommodating to all the visiting birders. I thank them for opening their property to us and inviting me for dinner.

This Cardinal is the 415th bird I have seen in the province of BC.

Whether or not you’re religious, this calm quote speaks to the idea of slowing down, taking your time, and not rushing through life. Things will work out.

Each time I'm with you the world doesn't exist! My truest friend that knows my flaws and yet ur still by my side. Truly blessed by your love and friendship.

Getting to know your true self is half the battle in becoming grounded. Meditation is a helpful way to do this: Spending a few minutes a day with your true self can make all the difference.

Out in the desert I could not climb this wall nor go around it. Secured well with one sacred guard. Move along...

What better way to physically distance from people than go into nature? Decided to do more day trips, taking photos and going on drives. Wanted to capture the beauty of PNW in fall colors. The nasty, windy, stormy weather brought out a beautiful rainbow :-).

going to Tuguegarao Cagayan....hataw sa trip. (April 27, 2010)

On a drive I had taken I instantly felt like I was in an old episode of "I Love Lucy" where they were driving and kept seeing "fresh pie" 5 miles ahed, one mile ahead, well, you get the picture and laugh if you can remember. I had a polaroid camera with me and used a pack of film as I followed the signs to find Malcolm's Restaurant to only be closed. It was a fun laugh!

It's a really long drive!

Even though we were heading south, there are some portions of US 1 along the Keys where we faced the setting sun head on. No visor nor sunglasses can help when the sun is this low on the horizon. Just slow and careful driving. And the hope that you regain your clear vision soon enough to safely motor on.

.

I think I am gonna have to start "writing down descriptions of places I've been", because, I, for the life of me can not tell you what beach this was...

Must be seen here to appreciate all the details in the image

All I know it was early morning, I was in a zone cruising down the Oregon Coast and I pulled out onto this little dirt road to see what the view was like. Well this was it and I knew I had to take a couple shots.... If anyone knows, can you please relay the info for me...I am guessing someone will know because of that Sea Stack out there!!!

Thanks!!!
