Someone asked me once if Honey Buzzards eat honey. It may have been a logical question but I explained kindly that they have a mixed diet but these medium-sized raptors have earned their names by raiding the nests of bees and wasps.
Their eyelids are particularly thick and the scales on their legs are also thick. I am told that If you get a chance to watch them at a stinging insect nest, they shut their eyes tightly and open their wings half-way and gently fan the nest with what some believe to be a naturally evolved pheromone secreted in glands under the wings that calms or subdues the defending insects.
They are also very patient birds and in forests, they sit and watch below the flight of wasps and wild bees and hop & fly from tree to tree to find the ultimate goal - the nest!
You must understand though the touch of your hand
Makes my pulse react
That it's only the thrill of boy meeting girl
Opposites attract
It's physical
Only logical
You must try to ignore that it means more than that
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
What's love but a second-hand emotion?
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
It may seem to you that I'm acting confused
When you're close to me
If I tend to look dazed I've read it someplace
I've got cause to be
There's a name for it
There's a phrase that fits
But whatever the reason you do it for me
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
What's love but a second-hand emotion?
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
I've been taking on a new direction
But I have to say
I've been thinking about my own protection
It scares me to feel this way
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
What's love but a second-hand emotion?
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
What's love but a sweet old-fashioned notion?
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
What's love but a second-hand emotion?
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
What's love?
Got to do it
Got to do it
What's love?

Under a false hope that Amtrak would be logical and send the inbound Hiawatha set (with a Veterans NPCU)
right back out as the last outbound of the day, we were quickly disappointed when the sound of an e-bell became audible as Amtrak 342 departed Milwaukee. IDTX charger #4604 brings the Chicago-bound Hiawatha, through the plant and past the searchlights that guard Menominee as light fades.
She's real she's deep
She's logical and mystical
She believes in kindness and oneness
And romance and magic
She's sensitive and distant, a warrior and lover
She believes in roadtrips to the stars
and distance with the universe
She's fearless and gentle, wondrous and brave
She lives in waterfalls and forests
and sunsets and galaxies
She is the artist, the thinker, the poem and the dream

After Norfolk & Western 611’s successful visit to Strasburg in 2019, it seemed logical that a return was likely. Getting it back to Pennsylvania became a stormy journey. The pandemic eliminated the possibility of a 2020 visit, but finally, a return for the entire summer was planned for 2021. Steamed up and ready to leave the North Carolina Transportation Museum, the big 4-8-4 suffered a stoker screw failure, and the return was delayed for repairs. After a three hour wait to get on Amtrak’s Keystone Line in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she finally was delivered to the Leamon Place interchange with the Strasburg Rail Road late yesterday afternoon. As it was taken to Strasburg, storms rolled in, providing appropriate lighting for its return.

an abandoned structure along the colorado roadside, between taos, new mexico, and great sand dunes national park in colorado...the christmas wreath to the right, to my recollection, is the only one in my photostream, but it is the reason i chose this image to share on christmas eve
this christmas day is also rather unusual, because it is the first night of hanukkah as well, the first time that has taken place in 20 years, and just the fifth time in the last 114 years!
Season's Greetings!! Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate!! Best wishes to you and yours :-)
I just thought since they're a million pictures of dragonflies posted online, I should start naming mine. Kind of like naming winter storms. Logical, right? And this fellow was rather small for a dragonfly too. I don't know if the first Jedediah was small, and don't even know when he lived. It's just a cool name.
the light was absolutely edible tonight.

While waiting for the Oystercatchers to come my way I squatted down in about an inch of water, as they came closer and closer my knees reached the point where I had to move. I had a choice, get up and the birds would leave or sit down; of course I made the logical choice, I sat down in the icy cold water and was rewarded with these photos.

Come mai succede tutto così?
La logica non è logica ma perchè allora deve esserla?
a voi la risposta amici miei
When we will meet again?
Is this time true or not?
Is your life as you thought or where you are?
For lucky we are by someone that is getting us real...
Have you ever thought thet you are inside something bigger than you?
Misuderstanding or to be to much sensible?
Why it happens always in this way?
Logical things are not logical but why must to be logical?

My first sunrise photos after hundreds of sunsets. Yes I am more an owl than the early morning bird. I need a couple of coffees before having a touch of inspiration. So it is logical that I started my sunrise HDR project during Winter holidays. In my view only bakers and the NSA should get up early. And the NSA should be first in case of suspicious bakers....
I had a tough week last week... I was walking on a path under the trees, at Crystal Bridges, thinking of all my problems and about everything that's very wrong about the world. As I was walking, the sun came out, and I a bud on a tree caught my attention. Coming from Chicago, I am used to polar weather in the winter, landscapes covered in ice and snow. This bud seemed to me somewhat out of place in January, even though here in the South it might not be. Anyway, I took this pic of it. All of a sudden, as I was standing in the sun, looking at this sign of life on one of the highest branches of the tree next to me, I felt strangely better. My problems did not seem that important. Started to realize that I could breath fresh air, and forget all the bad things, for a second or two at least. This was an amazing feeling. So to celebrate I did the most logical thing in the world: I decided that winter was officially just over. In January.

Here is another shot from Sunday evening above Hollywood and the Academy Awards. I wanted to avoid the chaos of my neighborhood on street level but also wanted to capture the busy city from afar so Hollywood Bowl Overlook was my logical destination.
I hoped tourists would rather stand around for no reason hoping a celebrity would be wandering around on foot than head to this vantage and I was mostly correct. The parking lot was full and after a few minutes of waiting, a spot opened up and there was really no one else around me. One guy was set up with a few cameras but was gone after it began to get dark and for a while, I stood on the sloping path down towards the city all by myself--which is what I prefer.
I love cityscapes even though I still have some issues trying to get settings right. It's one thing to expose a shot for the sky or for the foreground but dealing with changing ambient light or working in a longer exposure can present challenges. This was a pretty quick exposure--mainly because I wanted to focus on the blimp as long as it was hovering over my view--but surprisingly, even at longer exposures later in the evening, the clouds really didn't change much. The shutter speeds on the 3 posted so far from sunday night range from 1/125th of a second to 77 seconds and the sky remains mostly the same...the main difference being the light trails on the freeway and the lit buildings after dark.
Probably the biggest saving grace of coming here during the sunset to my back is when the intense light creates that golden sliver across downtown as seen here. I've shot here maybe 15 times now over the last year and have seen conditions like this on about 1/3 of the visits. While part of me is always bummed that I didn't go somewhere to shoot the actual sunset, at least I have aspects of the sunset incorporated into my shot. There really is no clean angle of a sunset here and I haven't found any good areas along Mulholland that are easy to stop at either. Nearly every scenic overlook faces away from the sunset--probably intentionally to avoid traffic--and as long as this is my favorite city view, I'll probably continue to pick this place first over any other area nearby.

I was a bit hasty with my Greenwich uploads - I like to keep things in date order or some kind of logical order when we go away on holiday and trips, but see I skipped straight to the sights of Greenwich and forgot these two photos from the Uber trip!
We were almost the first to board the boat, which meant we had a good choice of seats and we chose three in the front row.
I took this photo as we approached the pier at Greenwich and you can see the Cutty Sark ship and also the dome which is the entrance to the Greenwich Foot Tunnel (I didn't know this at the time) - this tunnel runs from the Royal Borough of Greenwich under the River Thames to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It's 1215 feet long - I wish we'd had a look down there, as I can imagine you can get some great photos down there!
I'm living in Germany. Hence, the logical consequence is that I neither travel in Germany nor do I take many photos in and of Germany. Right? Many of you probably know this, too. We all want to travel the world and see these far away places but keep forgetting that right here where we live is someone else's far away place. You don't necessarily have to fly halfway around the world to find exciting locations. It's most probably worth spending more time exploring your own neighborhood as well. Although I have to admit it strangely feels a bit like the broccoli you have to eat before you can get the icecream, I'm trying to save a place in my travel plans to get to know my own country a little better in the future. Maybe a small place, but a place.
Let's kick this off with an image of the Cathedral in Cologne (Germany).

Is it a potato beetle? Yes.
Does it look like a potato beetle? Yes
The similar Colorado Potato Beetle is found throughout the USA, but this one, the "False Potato Beetle" is found only in Eastern USA. Eastern Potato Beetle would seem a more logical name...oh well.

Specs of coloured light pierce the inky blackness of the night away in the distance to the south of Tonelnagee mountain[ from where I took the photo] and across the Wicklow Gap, seen just before dawn on the first day of January 2017. There is a perfectly logical explanation for them but there are many recorded incidences of moving lights flickering and dancing across the moors and wild places.. This strange phenonimum is referred to as "Will O` the Wisp" or "Jack O` Lantern". It is common in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and also in Nova Scotia and the Appalachian mountains. It also exists in many other forms throughout the World. It is said that it is the fairies who create this to toy with unwary human. Others say that its is the spirits of souls who were not allowed into hell and who are condemned to wander the wilderness forever carrying a glowing ember from the fires.
It was first recorded as been seen in Shropshire, in England, in 1660.
People are warned that if they see theses lights, to look away immediately and ignore them, as those who dont find themselves drawn in with an un controlable desire to catch them.
Many have been known to be found at daylight on the following morning completely disjointed and exhausted from chasing the lights continuously through the long night and unable to catch them or escape there strange magnetic attraction.
Scientists are now of the opinion that the effect may be caused by phospherence created by the reaction of various types of decaying vegative matter. The spirits apparently dont believe it though!
According to dictionaries, Willow the Wisp, is used to define a person who is very secretive and elusive.Cute in other words. We use the word cute here to mean slippery or underhanded or hidden.
My favourite expression with regard one of these types is; " That fella is so cute, he would live in your ear and let the other one out in rooms!"
Something that is "Willow the wispish" is also a pipe dream that not attainable. A bit like the problem your going to have making any sense out of all this!!!!

The lights seen in the photo are of the Turlough Hill, Hydro Electric Scheme built in 1974. They literally removed the top of a mountain and created a reservoir. Below this is a natural lake, Lough Nahanagan. The water is pumped between these during the night and allowed to fall back to the lower lake during the day which operates the turbines. The operating plant is concealed under the upper lake in a vast made made chamber and the for the lower lake in the natural cliffs surrounding it It is completely silent.,An incredible feet of engineering which has proved extremely successful.

Ive never seen these fairy lights myself but I have on occasion, woken up in a hell of a lot worse places than the middle of a peat bog, and Im saying no more!!!!!!

I see several people are referring to the lights as coming from a village. My write up clearly states that they are from the"TURLOUGH HILL HYDRO ELECTRIC SCHEME!"
Perhaps reading the write up might help. I forgive you though! Well, mostly!!!! Lol!

The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia, known simply as the Sagrada Familia, is a Roman Catholic basilica in Barcelona, Spain, designed by architect Antoni Gaudí. Begun in 1882, it is still under construction (November 2016). It is Gaudí's masterpiece and the greatest exponent of Catalan modernist architecture.
The Sagrada Familia is a reflection of Gaudí's artistic plenitude: he worked on it for most of his professional career, but especially in his later years, where he reached the culmination of his naturalistic style, synthesizing all the solutions and styles he had tried up to that point. Gaudí achieved perfect harmony in the interrelationship between structural and ornamental elements, between plasticity and aesthetics, between function and form, between content and container, achieving the integration of all the arts into a structured and logical whole. The Sagrada Familia has a Latin cross plan, five central naves, a three-aisled transept, and an apse with seven chapels. It boasts three façades dedicated to the Birth, Passion, and Glory of Jesus. When completed, it will have 18 towers: four at each portal, making a total of twelve for the apostles, four over the transept invoking the evangelists, one over the apse dedicated to the Virgin, and the central dome tower in honor of Jesus, which will reach 172.5 meters in height. The temple will have two sacristies next to the apse and three large chapels: the Assumption Chapel in the apse and the Baptism and Penance Chapels next to the main façade. It will also be surrounded by a cloister designed for processions and to isolate the temple from the exterior. Gaudí applied a highly symbolic content to the Sagrada Familia, both in architecture and sculpture, dedicating each part of the temple to a religious significance.

We live in an era of nihilism. It has become so normal that we are blind to it. A nihilistic society has high divorce rates and rampant fatherlessness. A nihilistic society is promiscuous with high numbers of sexually transmitted diseases. A nihilistic society has drug and crime epidemics. A nihilistic society lacks morals and common sense.
Abortion, the killing of one’s offspring, is nihilistic. Calling a human fetus a parasite is nihilistic. Why would one lie and call a fetus a parasite? It is because nihilism is incompatible with the truth. The further a society goes into nihilism the more it despises the truth. Nihilists love to preach their gospel of subjectivism. Nihilists declare that there are more than two genders. Nihilists support euthanasia. With nihilism, life has no value. Nihilists claim that people are nothing but sacks of hormones. Without a doubt, nihilism degrades and dehumanizes people. The climate change (net-zero) agenda is nihilistic (anti-human). I have read LGBTQ literature, which states that heterosexuality must be abolished. This too is a form of nihilism. Supporting mass migration, as empires do in decline, is nihilistic. Indeed, supporting the demise of your children’s future is nihilistic. Feminism, with its hatred of men, is nihilistic. Woke-Marxism, with its oppressed versus oppressor, is nihilistic. Socialism ends in nihilism, just look at the Soviets and Nazis. Artificial intelligence is also nihilistic, the same with transhumanism.
Mao wanted to destroy the Four Olds: Olds Ideas, Old Customs, Old Culture, and Old Habits. Mao needed New Ideas, New Customs, New Culture, and New Habits to replace the Old ones. The old order must be destroyed and replaced by the new order. Violence is part of the nihilist revolution. Nihilism, the worship of nothingness, in its purest form will produce destruction. In the end, the madness of nihilism will lead to either world conquest or utter ruin.
“We will not capitulate – no, never! We may be destroyed, but if we are, we shall drag a world with us – a world in flames.” – Adolf Hitler
Nietzsche declared that God was dead, because modern man had lost their faith in God. The foundations of our society are based on Christianity. If we tear down our foundations, then our whole society will come crashing down. This would destroy the Old Ideas, Old Customs, Old Culture, and Old Habits. Our values and traditions would be gone. We would destroy our measuring stick of right and wrong, truth and lie. Without our foundations, we will lose our house.
The West has rejected God and embraced secular humanism. The fruits of this will end in total nihilism. In rejecting God, they reject not only salvation but the truth. Since they reject the truth, they will follow error to its logical end—destruction. Nihilists are at war with the truth, at war with God. They, like Nietzsche, want to murder God. They want to be like Nietzsche’s Superman. They want to replace God and be their own god. They want to live by their own truth. In their nihilistic gospel of nothingness, they want to turn the world into nothingness. God created the universe from nothing. Therefore, they want to turn everything into nothing and create their own world. They do not want the universe to revolve around God. They want the universe to revolve around themselves. Their nihilistic world of tyranny will be cold; it will be efficiently run by machines and technology. They are constructing an artificial (digital) world. Their utopian world will be so all-encompassing that no one will be able to escape. Moreover, they want to transform a human into a transhuman—Nietzsche’s Superman.
With each technological advance, man becomes both stronger and weaker. Every power gained is also a power that can be used against man as well. Every victory won, means man is that much closer to being the servant of the leader in charge. Those who reject Christ will serve the antichrist. They will become born again in the antichrist, a spiritual (transhuman) rebirth. 666: take the Mark of the Beast! The merging of man and technology will mean the abolition of man. Transhumanists want to merge man and machine to create a new being. They want to make a being through their technology, a being made in their own image. They want to end humanity as we know it. They are planning the extinction of man!
Nihilism is the inversion of Christianity. In the gospel of nihilism, the antichrist is Christ, and God the Father is the dragon (the devil). Yet those who reject the Mark and choose Christ will live. The nihilists, however, will spend eternity living in the nihilism of hell with their father the devil.
John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I (Jesus) have come so that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.”
