Echo point in Katoomba is one of the major tourist destinations in NSW, Australia. Located in the township of Katoomba within the world heritage listed, Blue Mountains, it attracts millions of visitors each year with it's majestic views of the iconic three sisters and jamison valley. However, as we enter our 9th week of lockdown due to the corona virus (Covid-19, delta strain), the lookout has been closed off for all visitors, including locals who live nearby. As I wander past most days on my permitted exercise walks, I begin to see new compositions emerge, that perhaps would never have been considered....

Sad Pic of elephant's trunk...
This is Sofia, an asiatic elephant who lives in the Bioparco, the zoological garden of Rome, Italy. She is a very clever one and i always spend much time looking at her with my camera. This time, i shot here while she was trying to grab the lock of her cage with her trunk... As you can see, the lock is outside her view, but after a couple of attempts, she got hit and i was lucky enough to catch this moment. That was a deep emotional moment for me, and a tear dropped from my eye. Dear Sofia, i can only wish that in the next future no more animals have to suffer like you, caged and trapped without the opportunity of a free life.
Sorry I've been quiet, this explains it! 😜
Don't usually do 'people' shots but this one had to be done and it's something I may start doing a little more 😊
Crew shot from a recent foray to a disused county court. Thankfully we were freed! 😄
I've been out today location scouting, but wasn't really happy with the places I found for the shot I had in mind, so I waited a bit longer till the street lights went on...

Zoos have evolved over the years to make the life of an animal less and less traumatic, although it is still a prison for entertainment. Unlike those parks where the work to preserve species and recover those at risk of extinction seems to me to be an extremely important social and environmental job. Seeing that there are still zoos where you see that it is simply a prison makes me sad and angry, seeing the aggressive attitude of many animals in these zoos already gives you an idea of the discomfort they feel there and in those conditions. I have mixed feelings, but I am clear that if they gave me the option to choose, I would release them all. I dedicate this series to all those animals that in one way or another live in a prison, or simply have their freedom stolen from them.

Apart from the odd splatting, the occasional vegetable trafficking racket, and the periodic act of bean blasphemy, the Land of the Bed is almost entirely crime free.
It's therefore perfectly reasonable for a fox to expect his parked scooter to remain exactly where it was put, not for it to drive off into the horizon.
Despite this, Mr Fox being of a naturally suspicious disposition (on account of working with Polar Bears!) had still taken the precaution of locking it.
So, when he heard the shrill whining of his Vespa's engine disappearing into the horizon from his workshop, he was surprised!
It didn't take long for forensics to work out what had gone wrong. Next to where his moped used to be was the severed chain that had once afixed it. Next to the chain were the bolt cutters that had been borrowed and lost by Mrs PB.

First real attempt at a composite. Background shot is of a cell in Kilmainham Gaol and the selfie was in my living room. Both taken on my new best friend, the fuji X-T10 with the samyang 12mm at f/8.
