Spent a couple of hours yesterday photoshooting in one of the old industrial parks here in Calgary, this park probably dates back almost as long as Calgary has been a city... This area is showing its age... [This is along 11 St. SE in Ramsay, for those who know Calgary
This night at the loading dock was the busiest I'd ever seen it. Brad (owner) was heard commenting something along the lines of there have been several bands to play here -- but nobody has stood on chairs before to watch... especially LOTS of people standing on chairs....

The loading dock is deep in the surrounding building shadows, so it's not a bright spot for a break, but at least it gets him away from the kitchen for a while.
OK, I lied. It's the loading dock behind the Sears at the mall up the street. Being short on inspiration and energy this evening, a nighttime walk with the wide angle zoom (still lovin' that lens, btw) yielded some fun.

Pictures taken during different stages of constructing Big Iron's new shipping & containerization yard.
Precast concrete blocks are being set to create the two level loading dock.
Asphalt millings are being delivered which will be used to stabilize the yard.
A Komatsu trackhoe (excavator) is working on setting the heavy blocks as well as backfilling the wall.

Loading dock at a Chicago theatre. One of the few "spontaneous" sights I saw in several hours of walking the Loop. No character down there at all.
Taken in an effort to reproduce some of the qualities of 19th century French photographer Eugene Atget's work.
Wonderful loading dock in an alley in the loop. One of the last places to lose character in a city is the alleys where all the heavy lifting gets done.
