Former Manly Ferry, 'The Baragoola', now derelict and moored at 'The Coal Loader'. Ball's Head Bay, Sydney harbour.
The ferry has been waiting many years now now for its restoration. It was built in 1922!! Here is some information about the history of this grand ferry:

Photographed just before sunset at the historic 'Coal Loader' facility at Ball's Head Bay, Waverton, in Sydney.
Friday evening, 22nd January, 2021.
In the distance you can see Balmain, and in the far distance you can see the Anzac Bridge, first opened to traffic on Monday, 4th December, 1995.
For information about Sydney's amazing 'Coal Loader' facility, a former coal loading plant, built in 1918, and now transformed into 'The Coal Loader Centre For Sustainability', please see:

Australia's famous poet, Henry Lawson, actually wrote a poem in 1916, in which he protested against the building of the Coal Loader, saying that it would destroy the natural bushland environment of Ball's Head.
As such, this poem was one of the world's first environmental protests. Henry Lawson was well ahead of his time. And if you have time, read his poem entitled 'The Sacrifice of Ball's Head' (1916).
Greenpeace could use this guy today, and Greta Thunberg would love his ideas!

A feature if Iceland is the amount of ice that is visible. It creates many interesting patterns and is of different colours too.
How true...

Retired tanker truck on display on a centennial farm outside Milledgeville, IL.
This scene last winter...
Have a great truck Thursday all!
Not been that happy with my macro raindrops recently. As there were loads around this morning I practised.
Comments + welcome.
Thank you for your favourites. :O)
BLOL 7591 (ex NP GP9) & BLOL 7504 (original IC GP9, now a GP10) loading grain cars for the CN up in Charolette, IL. This was back in 2017 when it seemed to be easier to catch matching set of Bloomer power & catch bigger trains. Still to this day, I love shooting these guys.
It's pretty hot down here in JAX, so lets cool it off a bit. Back in early 2015, an eastbound coke train rolls into Deshler with FURX 3022 on the point. These were always cool to see, but I barely ever saw them leading. Built as PC 6247 in 1970, it lives on today on the Kiamichi RR in Oklahoma.

Lots to look at in this picture... in only 3 months the iconic "Superwood" plant in the back would be forever idled, the iconic smell never to waft over Duluth again. Although at the time I was incredulous that such a high profile and high dollar move was tasked to a pair of beaten and worn SD40's, now I'm glad it was! Traffic is backed up far down Railroad Street and won't clear for some time, as this massive load was moving at a snails pace. Although Port Terminal is a great place for unloading cargo, the route out presents a very sharp curve. If only there was a bridge that went right across the bay to Superior...
One of my favorite lakers, the steamer Wilfred Sykes, loads at CN Dock 6 as a hill job spots cars for dumping.
I loved the dark burgundy section of this tunnel. Being lucky enough to catch the light trail passing through the centre of the frame really adds to it too (and that red glow reflection on the poster!).
Moments prior I had been taking shots just before the tunnel. A couple of guys wandered past and stopped. My heart sank- they were going to engage us in conversation. I always feel so, so awkward as I really just want to take my photographs and be left alone. They were perfectly nice but there were loads of questions about what Michael and I were doing. Anxiety levels increased, embarrassment increased. Argh.
