A classic Land Rover seemingly loaded with provisions adds ambiance to the Africa section of the Dallas Zoo.

The poppies in the TWU Butterfly Garden are fading. Bees like them very much but soon they need to turn to other flowers for nectar and pollen.
Mrs. K was kind enough to capture a shot of me sloshing in the rain across the Alaska Tundra to photograph an Alaska Brown Bear.
It was the thrill of a lifetime and truly a Bucket List Item.
In the Alaska Tundra, conditions are cold. The summer is brief, with temperatures above freezing lasting for only a few weeks at most. However, this "warm" summer coincides with periods of almost 24 hour daylight, so plant growth can be explosive.
A wide variety of plants species can be found on the tundra. What most of them have in common are growth characteristics - they tend to grow low to the ground.
Among the common types of tundra plants are willows, sedges and grasses. Many in dwarf forms compared to their growth forms in warmer climes. Lichens and mosses are also important, particularly in the harshest climates.
The long day length that accompanies the short summer is a boon to plants, which are able to photosynthesize 24 hours a day in some places. This leads to rapid plant growth.
A surprising number of insects are able to endure the harsh winters (many as frost-resistant eggs); these also undergo rapid development in the summer. Many bird species migrate from southern areas to the tundra each year for the reduced competition and plentiful insect harvest; this rich diet enables them to rear their young in an otherwise bleak environment.

I had taken along my Jupiter 12 lens to test out ion my new full frame camera, and took the same shot with it, but it didn't turn out as good so have loaded up this one with the Sony standard lens...
B&M GP40-2's 308 & 316 and GP-9 1736 are assigned along with four Conrail units on this loaded Bow coal train, climbing out of the Connecticut River valley. One day before the start of the Winter season an early snowfall has blanketed western Massachusetts.

A shot I've been after for a while, a heritage pair of Colas 56s - 56090/113 on 6M37 Ravenstruther - Carlisle yard loaded ballast in a lucky patch of sun near Elvanfoot.
Colas have been using a pair of 56s on the Ravenstruther - Carlisle ballast, saving tying up a 70 for a fairly short {mileage) working. 17/07/23

An interesting lashup of four axle power struggles to drag a northbound coal train more or less along the route Captina Creek is using to get to the Ohio River. Power for the unit coal train are two GE's and two EMD;s, with a pair of B23-7 units leading a GP38-2 and a GP-35. It was starting to get late in the game for the GP-35's at this point in time but I know some lasted into 1990.
Morning fog hangs in the valley shortly after sunrise as loaded Norfolk Southern grain train 40N crosses the Ohio River from South Point, Ohio into Kenova, West Virginia behind a BNSF SD70ACe and KCS ES44AC. Built in 1913, the double track bridge features 4 Baltimore Through Trusses and 1 central Pennsylvania Through Truss, with a long approach trestle on the south side for a total length of 4000 feet.

Some information on my process with this one. I started it yesterday as a blank concept. It's been finished since yesterday morning besides the music player. I couldn't conjure the apparition of what was missing. Mind you, every single thing in this was done yesterday, the blood... everything besides the player. I woke a little after 3 A.M to Ems new album. (By the way, the entire thing is amazing.) But as I was driving this morning it dawned on me that is what was missing. The art style Em went with, the fact it is almost identical to how I did the back wall in this photo.. There's even an alternative cover of him with a gun to his head. It's amazing how things work out that way. So keep in mind everyone, if you feel as if something's missing.. never ignore your art in exchange for the urge to share. Let your flower bloom, it smells so much sweeter. God bless 💙
