#OccupyLSX tent city at St. Paul's Cathedral - Day Six, 20.10.2011
Signs of an Occupation
On day six of the occupation at St. Paul's Cathedral the burgeoning tent city had expanded dramatically to over 150 tents, including a bookstore, first aid, kitchen, quiet space etc., with regular "Occupation University" information groups being held every day and night to educate people in the workings of capitalism, banking and economics.
Covering the walls overlooking the occupation site had appeared hundreds of signs and posters contributed by the activists. This is my record of that great artwork.

iPhone Hipstamatic capture run through the Lo-mob app. With this one I then took it into Photoshop to do some postprocessing.
He is under the weather today with allergies. I asked his permission first before I took the 2 photos. I expected a, "No, I'm sick," but instead he gave a small smile and nodded his head yes, then returned to napping.

Hackney Wick - Bordering the Olympic Park - Day 01
I spent a couple of hours scouting around White Post Lane in Hackney Wick, E9, which borders the Olympic Park and which is all under threat from the developers who, seeing the opportunity to make a fast buck are trying by hook or by crook to completely eradicate this corner of Victorian industrial London which, once it's gone is gone for ever. Needless to say what is planned is the usual hideous, soulless glass and steel box constructions, most of which will in turn be ripped down in less than twenty years time. There are many fantastic Victorian and Edwardian buildings all over the area which, though abandoned, do not deserve to be mindlessly ripped down.
It may not be beautiful, it may be run-down and need revitalising, it may have been neglected since the end of World War II, but this area's still an important part of London's incredible, vital history. Many renovated warehouses are now home to thriving small companies, and of course a lot of people still live here and love it, and they argue that yes, parts need redeveloping to bring new investment into the area, but that it should be done with some respect.
