If you look very closely at the brake rotor it appears to have cracks all over it. This is part of Porsche's Ceramic Composite Brakes option which adds $9200 to the price of the car. The rotors are made of carbon fiber reinforced ceramic, 50% lighter than typical cast iron. The brake pads are also ceramic. According to one source, these brakes can last for 150,000 miles under regular driving conditions - but then they are almost as expensive as a small car to replace.
